Le Huan woke up early. Turning her head, she saw Zhao Yan still asleep beside her. She froze for a moment, then called out to 1066:

“…What happened? Did we do something after drinking?”

The previous night, 66 had been on high alert, worried that Le Huan might be taken advantage of while drunk. Unexpectedly, it was Le Huan who had made the first move, touching Zhao Yan’s face. But no matter how much 66 tried, it couldn’t wake her. In the end, it gave up.

After that, everything went black—no sight, no sound. It could only guess that something had happened, though it had no idea how far things had gone.

Le Huan was also shocked. She felt Zhao Yan wasn’t the type to take advantage of someone, at least not without worrying whether she might get angry at him. Could something really have happened between them?

She rubbed her head as fragments of memory flashed through her mind—herself singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” touching Zhao Yan’s face, leaning in to kiss him…

Alright. She had nothing to say for herself.

But Le Huan wasn’t stupid. There was nothing unusual about her body—aside from her lips hurting slightly—so nothing serious must have happened.

She turned to look at Zhao Yan again. His lips were in a miserable state, scabbed in several places, looking painful.

Le Huan, however, felt no guilt. No matter how much it hurt, Zhao Yan had been the one taking advantage. After all, it had been her first kiss too.

She studied him carefully. He wasn’t bad at all—he looked fierce, as if he could beat someone up at any moment, but in reality, his personality was gentle and meticulous, like a loyal puppy.

He had treated her well from the very beginning. Even someone as picky and fussy as her couldn’t find fault with him. She had never been in a relationship before, and since she would eventually leave, trying one with him didn’t seem like a bad idea. She remembered that kissing him had felt quite nice—though his kissing skills were terrible. Her tongue still hurt.

With that thought, she mischievously pinched his nose. Zhao Yan woke up immediately. Seeing that it was her, he relaxed—but then, recalling what had happened the night before, his heart tensed again.

Le Huan had been drunk and unaware, but he had been completely sober. Anxiety and unease filled him. He didn’t dare look at her face, afraid of seeing disgust or rejection. Yet deep down, he had already made up his mind—no matter how much she hated him, he would still follow her.

【What did you two even do? Why does he look so guilty?】

66 was dying of curiosity, but Le Huan refused to tell it anything.

Seeing Zhao Yan’s submissive posture made her want to laugh. She wanted to tease him, but also worried he might feel bad, so she decided to be straightforward:

“Yan Yan, do you want to be my boyfriend?”

Zhao Yan couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Each word was familiar, yet together they made no sense. He stared blankly at her, as if struck by a sugar-coated bomb, his heart reacting before his mind could catch up.

“Stunned? If you don’t want to, forget it…”

Le Huan knew he was overjoyed and deliberately twisted her words, unable to resist teasing him.

Zhao Yan snapped back to his senses, his eyes reddening with emotion—a mix of bitterness, joy, and grievance.

He had waited so long. To outsiders, they already looked like a couple, but Zhao Yan knew she had never truly acknowledged him. He selfishly never corrected others, as if pretending could make it real.

He had never been able to read her feelings, never knowing if she felt anything for him as a woman toward a man.

And now, at last, he had his answer—Le Huan liked him. The realization filled him with overwhelming joy, yet also a trace of grievance that it had taken her so long. Her teasing words made his eyes redden even more. He felt utterly pathetic.

Zhao Yan said nothing, yet his reaction said everything.

Le Huan found his large, awkward figure amusing. She even considered taking him with her when she eventually left.

She leaned over and hugged him. “If you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as a yes.”

Then she kissed his ear.

Zhao Yan’s ears were extremely sensitive. At her touch, they flushed red instantly. Goosebumps spread across his body, and an uncontrollable reaction stirred within him.

Le Huan noticed, but pretended not to. She had no intention of going that far with him yet. Judging by his size, she felt it might kill her. For now, kisses and hugs were enough.

Zhao Yan shifted slightly, pulling the blanket over himself to hide it. But at the same time, he wanted to keep kissing her. Neither knew who started it, but they ended up kissing again.

By the time 66 was finally released from its “black room,” it was already noon. The two had just gotten together and were like dry wood meeting fire—kissing while washing up, kissing while feeding the cat, even kissing while cooking.

66 protested loudly in her mind, accusing them of being lunatics who did nothing but kiss.

Even Le Huan began to feel overwhelmed. She avoided eye contact with Zhao Yan—because the moment their eyes met, he would lean in and cling to her lips again. He had become even more clingy than before, unable to be apart from her for even a second, even waiting outside the bathroom while she was inside.

Her lips remained swollen, never fully recovering. Zhao Yan loved staring at them—both pained and secretly thrilled. Le Huan started avoiding him out of fear.

Despite sleeping late the night before, Zhao Yan looked refreshed and energized. Even the scar on his brow seemed to carry a hint of joy.

That afternoon, they were scheduled to head out to clear a nest of zombies. Wu You and the others had already joined up with the second squad and arrived outside Zhao Yan’s house.

Zhao Yan had already prepared lunch for Le Huan. It was the happiest day of his life—he intended to remember it and celebrate it every year.

He even regretted accepting the mission. This was supposed to be his time to bask in newfound affection with Le Huan. He kept reminding her not to wander around, promising he would come back soon to spend time with her, telling her to eat properly, and so on.

Wu You was used to Zhao Yan’s overly protective, almost motherly attitude toward Le Huan, but today felt different. Seeing Le Huan’s lips, then Zhao Yan’s battered ones, he twitched slightly—who would have thought someone so delicate could be so fierce in this regard?

Zhou Bai, with his sharp hearing, caught Zhao Yan—usually the cold, ruthless leader who ranked first in zombie kills—rambling endlessly to a girl. He was stunned.

—Who on earth managed to tame this cold-faced demon?

Jiang Jingfeng, recognizing the voice from the previous day, immediately rushed into the courtyard. His eyes locked onto Le Huan, a wicked smile curling on his lips.

“Found you.”

Sensing his hostile gaze, Zhao Yan immediately stepped in front of Le Huan. The gentleness on his face vanished, replaced by a chilling coldness. The atmosphere grew tense.

Le Huan looked at the unfamiliar face, not immediately recognizing him—after all, he had been masked the day before. It was 66 who reminded her he was the man who had whistled at her.

Looking at his somewhat familiar eyes, she recognized him. Jiang Jingfeng had a rebellious, unruly appearance—one of the better-looking men in the apocalypse—but he wasn’t her type.

Hearing his arrogant tone, Le Huan had no intention of backing down. With so many people around to protect her, why would she fear someone like him? She pushed Zhao Yan aside slightly and smiled provocatively at Jiang Jingfeng:

“Oh, it’s you. Did you sleep well last night?”
