Jay stood in front of Keifer’s office desk, holding her college bag with a serious face.
“Keifer,” she called.
He didn’t even look up from his documents.
“Hmm?”
“I’m going to college tomorrow.”
The room went silent.
Keifer slowly lifted his eyes.
His cold gaze landed on her.
“No.”
Jay blinked.
“No?”
“No college.”
She crossed her arms.
“Excuse me?
I’m not asking for permission to breathe.”
Keifer leaned back in his chair.
“Your safety comes first.
The outside world isn’t a game, Jay.”
Jay rolled her eyes.
“I survived before you entered my life, Mr.
Watson.”
A small smirk almost appeared on his face, but he hid it.
“You’re my wife now.”
“And that means I lose my freedom?” Jay challenged.
Keifer stood up, walking closer.
His serious expression made the room feel colder.
“It means I have enemies.
People who would hurt you just to reach me.”
Jay looked at him for a moment.
She saw the worry hidden behind his anger.
Still, she refused to lose.
“I’m going.
I worked hard for my education.
I won’t sit inside this mansion like a decoration.”
Keifer stared at her stubborn face.
“You’re impossible.”
Jay smiled proudly.
“And you married me.”
For the first time, Keifer had no reply.
He sighed.
“Fine.”
Jay’s eyes widened.
“Really?”
“One condition.”
“What?”
“My security team goes with you.”
Jay groaned.
“Keifer—”
“No arguments.”
She walked away mumbling, “The Devil has too many rules.”
Behind her, Keifer quietly smiled.
Because he knew one thing…
The girl who argued with the Devil was the only person who made his world feel alive.
