The next morning…
The Watson mansion was unusually quiet.
Too quiet.
Keifer had already left for work.
At least…
That’s what Jay thought.
She slowly opened her bedroom door.
She peeked into the hallway.
Left.
Right.
No one.
She tiptoed downstairs.
The head maid noticed her.
“Ma’am…
where are you going?”
Jay put a finger to her lips.
“Shhh…”
The maid blinked.
“I’m escaping.”
Before the maid could react—
Jay slipped out the front door and ran through the gates.
“Mrs.
Watson!”
The security guards looked at each other.
“Should we stop her?”
“Sir didn’t say we could touch Mrs.
Watson.”
“So…”
“…We pretend we didn’t see anything.”
Jay grinned triumphantly.
“Freedom!”
Outside the mansion…
A black SUV was waiting near the road.
Freya leaned out of the window.
“Jay!”
Ella waved excitedly.
“Hurry!
Before your husband catches you!”
Jay laughed and ran toward them.
“You two are my heroes.”
Freya opened the back door.
“Get in!”
Jay climbed inside.
“We’re actually doing this.”
Ella giggled.
“I can’t believe you’re sneaking out like a teenager.”
“I feel like one.”
The car started moving.
Jay leaned back with a victorious smile.
“I escaped.”
Freya high-fived her.
“You defeated the Devil.”
Exactly…
Ten seconds later…
A sleek black Rolls-Royce slowly pulled out from behind a row of trees.
Its tinted windows lowered.
Keifer sat in the back seat.
One arm rested on the door.
His expression unreadable.
Felix sat beside him, trying very hard not to laugh.
Keifer spoke calmly.
“…Follow them.”
“Yes, Sir.”
The Rolls-Royce quietly followed the girls’ SUV.
Inside Freya’s car…
Ella looked out the rear window.
“…Um.”
Freya frowned.
“What?”
“I think…”
“…we’re being followed.”
Jay turned around.
Her smile disappeared.
Behind them…
The familiar black Rolls-Royce.
The personalized license plate.
The same bodyguards.
Jay slowly covered her face.
“…Oh no.”
Freya laughed.
“Is that…”
Jay nodded miserably.
“…My husband.”
Ella burst into laughter.
“He’s literally following”
The black Rolls-Royce stopped beside Freya’s SUV.
The rear window slowly rolled down.
Keifer looked directly at Jay.
His face was unreadable.
“Mrs.
Watson.”
Jay folded her arms.
“Good morning.”
“I told you not to leave the mansion.”
“I wanted to go to college.”
“I said no.”
“And I said yes.”
Freya quietly whispered to Ella,
“…Should we drive away?”
Ella shook her head.
“I value my life.”
Keifer stepped out of the car.
His polished shoes echoed against the pavement.
He stopped a few feet away from Jay.
“Get in the car.”
Jay stubbornly shook her head.
“No.”
His eyes narrowed.
“I’m counting to three.”
Jay smiled confidently.
“You always count.”
“One.”
She stuck her tongue out playfully.
“No.”
“Two.”
She folded her arms tighter.
“Still no.”
Freya covered her face.
“Oh no…”
Ella grabbed Freya’s hand.
“He’s actually reaching three.”
Keifer looked at Jay one last time.
“…Three.”
Jay proudly smiled.
“I’m still not coming.”
For a few seconds…
Nobody moved.
Then—
Keifer calmly walked toward her.
Jay blinked.
“…What are you doing?”
He didn’t answer.
Before she could step back…
He bent down, slipped one arm behind her knees and the other around her back.
In one smooth motion—
He lifted her into a bridal carry.
“KEIFER!”
Jay squealed in surprise.
“Put me down!”
She lightly kicked her feet in the air.
“I said put me down!”
Keifer didn’t even slow his pace.
“No.”
“People are watching!”
“I know.”
“This is embarrassing!”
“I know.”
“KEIFER!”
She looked around dramatically.
“Help!”
Everyone on the sidewalk turned to look.
A few college students froze.
Two security guards looked at each other nervously.
Jay reached one hand toward them.
“Help me!”
Keifer stopped walking for a moment.
He slowly looked around at everyone watching.
Then, in his calm, deep voice, he asked,
“…Who are you asking for help?”
He glanced at the crowd.
“Everyone here is scared of me.”
The crowd immediately looked away.
One man suddenly became very interested in checking his phone.
Another quickly crossed the street.
A delivery rider quietly started his bike and left.
Freya whispered,
“…He’s right.”
Ella nodded rapidly.
“I suddenly remembered I have homework.”
Jay looked around in disbelief.
“Traitors!”
Keifer continued walking toward the Rolls-Royce.
She pouted in his arms.
“I can walk!”
“You had your chance.”
“I’ll behave.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I promise.”
“You promised yesterday too.”
She sighed dramatically.
“…You’re impossible.”
“And you’re impossible to leave alone.”
Felix opened the car door with a perfectly straight face.
“Good morning, Ma’am.”
Jay looked at him desperately.
“Felix!”
“Yes, Ma’am?”
“Save me!”
Felix glanced at Keifer.
Then back at Jay.
He smiled apologetically.
“I’m afraid my salary depends on making sure Sir wins this argument.”
Jay gasped.
“Even you?”
“My deepest apologies.”
Keifer carefully placed Jay inside the car.
As she tried to climb back out—
He gently closed the door before she could escape.
Click.
The child lock engaged.
Jay pressed her forehead dramatically against the window.
“I’ve been kidnapped.”
Keifer got into the seat beside her.
Without looking up from the document Felix handed him, he replied calmly,
“No.”
“You’ve been escorted.”
Jay folded her arms with an exaggerated huff.
“I’m filing a complaint.”
“To whom?”
She opened her mouth…
Then closed it again.
Keifer looked at her with the faintest hint of amusement.
“Exactly.”
From outside the car, Freya and Ella watched the Rolls-Royce drive away.
Freya let out a long sigh.
“…I don’t know whether to feel sorry for Jay…”
Ella laughed.
“…or for Keifer, who has to keep chasing his runaway wife.”
