Shen Yu narrowed his eyes. His low, deep voice carried a hint of amusement, making it impossible to tell whether he was mocking her or genuinely surprised.
This little thing always managed to catch him off guard with her adorably clueless behavior.
The next second, an irresistible force swept over her.
Xia Zhiyao's vision blurred. Before she could react, Shen Yu effortlessly scooped her up with one hand. As though lifting a tiny kitten, he pulled her into his arms with ease.
Mmph!
She landed squarely on his firm, muscular thigh.
The brush of her skin against his clothes, the warmth radiating from his body— the position was unbearably intimate.
A moment later, his overwhelming masculine scent surrounded her completely.
Growing up, she had never been this close to any man. She had always been a well-behaved girl and had never even held hands with a boy before.
The unfamiliar intimacy filled her with fear and helplessness.
Forced to straddle his lap, she instinctively pressed both hands against his broad, solid chest, trying to push herself away and escape the scorching contact between their bodies.
"Stop squirming."
Shen Yu frowned. Without the slightest hesitation, he smacked her on the butt.
Smack!
"Ugh..."
The girl flinched. Unable to hold back any longer, she let out a soft whimper as the tears she had been desperately suppressing spilled down her cheeks like a broken dam.
"If you move again, I'll throw you outside and let the wolves eat you."
Shen Yu deliberately tried to scare her, a trace of cruel amusement hidden in his tone.
His thick, powerful arm wrapped firmly around her slender waist, pulling her tightly against his chest until not even the slightest gap remained between their bodies.
His large fingers absently traced the curve of her waist.
Even through the thin layer of fabric between them, Xia Zhiyao could still feel the scorching heat radiating from his body.
She instantly went rigid.
She was genuinely terrified.
This was a lawless place, and he was its king.
Forget hitting her once— even if he strangled her to death right then and there, no one would dare utter a single word.
The little thing in his arms finally settled down.
She was still trembling like a frightened rabbit, but at least she had stopped struggling.
The room fell silent, leaving only the sound of their mingled breathing.
Shen Yu's hand did not move any further. It simply rested against the unbelievably smooth skin at her waist.
The rough calluses on his fingertips lightly brushed against that small patch of exposed skin, sending another faint shiver through the girl in his arms.
Inexperienced. Tense. Stiff.
Shen Yu narrowed his dark eyes.
His hand slowly slid down her thigh, past her bent knee, over the calf pressed tightly against his own leg, until it finally came to rest around her slender ankle.
He felt her entire body tremble violently, overwhelmed by helpless fear.
"The first time?"
The man suddenly spoke. His voice was low and husky, his breathing noticeably heavier.
Xia Zhiyao's mind had gone completely blank, filled with nothing but a dull ringing.
She froze for a moment before slowly realizing what he meant.
A wave of shame nearly swallowed her whole.
But she didn't dare remain silent.
Nor did she dare lie.
She knew this man had very little patience.
Biting her bloodless lips, she gave a small, difficult nod.
Tears slipped down her cheeks like beads from a broken string.
She didn't even dare sob aloud.
So she really was a virgin.
A delicate flower raised in a greenhouse—someone who had never even seen a weed growing in the wild.
Troublesome.
Shen Yu studied her quietly for two long seconds.
Her trembling lashes were still dotted with tears, while twin streams continued to run down her cheeks like tiny brooks that refused to dry.
The predatory darkness in his eyes softened, if only slightly.
"Alright."
He spoke calmly as his palm gently stroked down her back in a slow, reassuring motion.
"Then this time— we’ll keep things normal."
Xia Zhiyao's eyelashes trembled as confusion and fear filled her eyes.
Keep things... normal?
What did he mean?
Did that mean he had originally planned to do something... not normal?
Before her oxygen-starved mind could process his words, a strong hand suddenly gripped her chin and forced her to lift her head.
Shen Yu's striking, sharply defined face came closer as he looked straight into her eyes and delivered his next command.
His tone wasn't harsh— if anything, it was almost gentle. Yet the overwhelming authority in his voice left no room for disobedience.
"In a little while, you may cry."
"But you're not allowed to scream."
"I don't like noise. Do you understand?"
Xia Zhiyao's heart pounded wildly.
What did any of that mean?
She didn't know.
Nor did she dare ask.
In front of this man, she had no right to question him. All she could do was obey without hesitation.
With tears brimming in her eyes, she nodded obediently.
"Good."
A good little puppy.
Cute.
The corners of Shen Yu's lips lifted into the faintest hint of a smile.
The next instant, without the slightest warning, he rose to his feet.
A sudden wave of weightlessness swept over her.
"Ah!"
Xia Zhiyao let out a startled cry.
Acting purely on instinct, she reacted immediately.
To keep herself from falling like a discarded rag doll, she instinctively wrapped her slender legs around the man's lean, powerful waist while her arms clung tightly around his neck.
She hung from him like a little koala.
The position was unbearably embarrassing.
His chest was as hard as steel, and his body radiated an intense, scorching heat.
Shen Yu seemed pleased that she had taken the initiative to cling to him.
One large hand supported her hips as he carried her toward the single bed nearby.
It was only a few steps away, yet to Xia Zhiyao, it felt as though an entire lifetime had passed.
When they reached the bedside, there wasn't the slightest trace of tenderness in his movements.
He simply tossed her onto the soft mattress.
The world spun around her.
Before Xia Zhiyao could curl into herself in a protective instinct, his tall figure was already looming over her, completely blocking out the light above.
There was no kiss.
No gentle caress.
Not even a single unnecessary word.
To Shen Yu, this was nothing more than a one-sided act of possession—a declaration of ownership.
He was the king of this land.
And at this moment, she was the offering placed before him.
There was no hesitation.
No opportunity for her to prepare.
