Livy was laughing at a joke Marco had just finished telling when the elevator doors at the far end of the penthouse swung open.
Marco’s smile vanished instantly.
He jumped to his feet so fast that his chair scraped loudly across the polished floor.
Thinking it was the Don, he was surprised to see Chloe walking in.
“Ma’am,” he said, his voice tense.
“How…
how did you get in here?” Chloe didn’t answer right away.
She just stared at him.
“Traitor,” she hissed.
He was supposed to be on her side.
Instead, he was sitting here eating breakfast and laughing with the woman who had nearly sent Antonio to prison.
Chloe’s eyes looked across the room.
She had never been allowed inside Antonio’s penthouse.
No one was.
This was his private sanctuary, somewhere even his most trusted men were not allowed to come.
Marco was the only exception.
He came when Antonio was away to clean, arrange his meals, and handle the small errands the Don couldn’t be bothered with.
And yet this federal rat was here.
Chloe slowly turned her attention to Livy.
She looked young.
Didn’t look a day past twenty.
She looked almost innocent.
Almost.
This girl was a federal witness, who tried to put the Don behind bars.
Yet he had married her and brought her here?
Why here, and not his main estate?
And more importantly, why was the bitch still alive?
Chloe’s jaw tightened.
She had spent all night trying to understand why Antonio hadn’t simply putten a bullet through her head.
Now here she was, sitting comfortably at his dining table, laughing and having breakfast.
Her blood boiled.
Livy, meanwhile, was staring at the newcomer.
She was beautiful in a cold, intimidating way.
Her expensive dress hugged her figure, and every detail about her screamed wealth, confidence, and entitlement.
A strange thought crossed her mind.
Could she be Antonio’s girlfriend?
Or maybe she was one of his lovers?
It’s not like she gave a damn or anything.
Chloe walked toward the table.
Her eyes landing on the lavish breakfast spread.
Her lips curled into a bitter smile.
Then, without any warning, she picked up a full glass of orange juice and dumped it right on Livy’s head.
She gasped as the juice ran down her face, soaking her hair and dripping onto her clothes.
She slowly lifted her head.
“Lady, what the hell?” For a moment, she could only stare in shock.
Marco moved immediately, stepping in front of Livy.
“Ma’am, that’s enough!
You shouldn’t even be here, let alone attacking the Don’s guest.” Chloe glared angrily at him.
“Shut up!” She turned back to Livy, her expression filled with contempt.
“My name is Princess Chloe Evangeline Deureux.” She paused, letting the name sink in.
“The Don is my fiancé.” She straightened, smoothing down her dress.
“I’m here with a proposition.
One that I think you’ll find very difficult to refuse.” Livy let out a sharp scoff, wiping the juice from her cheek.
“Take your proposition and shove it.” ”You don’t know what I’d be willing to give you,” Chloe countered smoothly.
“Whatever it is, I’m not interested.” “You will be.
I will keep in touch.” She turned and walked away, laughing as she headed through the living room toward the elevator.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Antonio’s men stood in a semicircle holding out their guns.
Several bodies lay motionless across the blood-stained concrete.
Antonio stood at the center of it all, dressed in a flawlessly tailored black suit.
A cigar rested between his fingers, smoke curling lazily around his face.
A pistol hung loosely in his other hand.
He walked forward slowly, stepping over a body.
One of the men on the ground stirred, wheezing as he struggled to breathe.
Antonio shot him without even glancing at him.
He walked slowly few more places.
One man was kneeling, holding his side while blood rushed out between his fingers.
”Don Antonio,” he said, his eyes wide with fear.
“I was wrong.
Please forgive me.” Antonio stopped, standing directly over him.
He took a slow puff from his cigar, letting the gray smoke drift lazily into the air before blowing it away.
”Please…” he begged.
“Don’t kill me.” Antonio raised his gun.
“There is only one outcome for defying my orders.” The man’s eyes widened.
“I won’t do it again, I swear it…” Before the man could finish, Alex appeared beside him, looking tense.
“The Red Dragon was just hit,” he said.
“It’s an FBI raid.”
