He’d sent Gisekki a long-winded letter in the mail that very day they had their PVP match, trying to clear up the misunderstanding.
The main point was that he’d mistaken the PVP for a guild interview—and that he was sorry.
To: Gisekki
Status: Unread
Hello, this is YeUbeomjeol. I have something to tell you.
...
...
...Hm, Gisekki still hadn’t read it today.
‘Still, it’d be weird to go up and ask him to read my mail… If I tried to talk to him directly, he’d probably run away.’
If the guild had sucked, Ye Uwon wouldn’t have agonized this much. He’d just leave.
But the guild members were better than he’d expected.
And since Gisekki was even an officer in the guild, he felt like he had to clear the air for the sake of the group dynamic.
(Guild) BaekKimchi: @YeUbeomjeol YeU-nim, did you happen to go hunting the twins?
That’s when BaekKimchi spoke to Ye Uwon.
He’d run a few raids with BaekKimchi before.
(Guild) YeUbeomjeol: @BaekKimchi Hello, Kimchi-nim. I was planning to go today.
(Guild) BaekKimchi: @YeUbeomjeol Gasp; I’m about to go too, wanna join?
(Guild) YeUbeomjeol: @BaekKimchi Sounds good.
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: Jealous. I wanna go too but I got Territory War :(ㅠㅠ):
(Guild) QuengKang: kkbb
Since it was the second-ranked guild, the members were pretty busy.
To keep control over their wide territory, they had to regularly accept challenge declarations from other guilds and engage in Territory Wars. If they rejected too many, they’d lose the territory.
‘I wonder if I’ll get to try a Territory War soon.’
Territory Wars in God of Water Veil were a pretty major source of fun.
There were basic Territory Wars, Defense Battles, and full-on Guild vs Guild Territory Wars. Usually, people did the smaller-scale ones that only needed two participants.
You could challenge or be challenged with just two members, and depending on the outcome, you could take part of the opponent’s territory and 5% of their gold.
‘They said the more you win, the more contribution points you get, right?’
Winning Territory Wars boosted your guild contribution score, and payouts were distributed based on those rankings. The payouts were juicy enough that some players specialized in nothing but Territory Wars.
‘Defense Battles are like territory defense, and the Guild vs Guild ones need at least ten members... Guess that’s the biggest one. Sounds fun.’
The rewards were pretty sweet across the board, but you had to be in the guild for a certain period before you could join, so Ye Uwon hadn’t been allowed in any yet.
BaekKimchi has sent you a party invite. Accept?
[Accept]
[Decline]
‘Well, let’s go hunt some twins first.’
Ye Uwon immediately hit accept and joined the party.
Cult Boss: Twilight Fair (5/6)
Including Ye Uwon, there were now five members.
(Dual Cannon) BaekKimchi: Dragon Knight’s in the house.
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: hihi
(Assassin) NyamNyami: You’ve arrived~
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: lolol whoa, the Dragon Knight from the rumors;;
They were all guild members.
Ye Uwon quickly checked the party composition. A healer (Spirit Priest), a long-range DPS (Dual Cannon), melee DPSs (Assassin and Undead).
Not a bad comp, all things considered.
(Dragon Knight) YeUbeomjeol: Been a while since I’ve done Twilight Fair. I’ll do my best, even if I’m a bit rusty.
They were headed to Twilight Fair, a Cult Boss raid with conjoined twin siblings as the main boss.
‘Been a while since I did a Cult Boss, not an Apostle.’
Cult Boss raids were the go-to content before the Apostle raids became a thing.
Of course, since it was a low-level raid, the gold payout wasn’t much.
But once in a while, items with a 0.1–0.2% drop rate would show up, and those were super expensive. So people with time to kill often tried their luck, chasing the jackpot.
(Assassin) NyamNyami: lolol I’m looking forward to seeing YeU-nim humble them
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: fr, there’s a rumor going around the guild lately that raids are chill af if YeU-nim’s in the party lol
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: Apostles supposedly roll over, give you a handshake, and go “bang bang high-five”...
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: ok that’s cap lmao;;
Ye Uwon gave a sheepish smile at the chat.
He’d spent the last week mostly doing raids to get closer to the guild members—and apparently that built him a bit of a rep.
(Dragon Knight) YeUbeomjeol: I’ll do my best.
Ye Uwon considered himself just average.
But the guild members kept complimenting him.
Like how good he was at grabbing aggro, or what skill that was just now, or thanking him for saving them.
‘Maybe it’s just because I’m new? I’ve never been complimented this much while playing before.’
As a Dragon Knight, he’d never really gotten praise.
It still felt awkward to hear stuff like that, but he couldn’t deny—it felt kinda nice.
‘I’m not even that good. I should be the one thanking them.’
People here were seriously kind.
Even though it was just a game, it made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
(Dual Cannon) BaekKimchi: Gasp; is this everyone?
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: Looks like this is it for the folks who said they’d go? One spot left~
BaekKimchi said they’d try recruiting one more and typed into the guild chat.
(Guild) BaekKimchi: @Guild One spot left for twin raid~ DPS or healer, anything works~ Newbies welcome too~ Come hop on the bus~~
Everyone in the party except YeUbeomjeol and LifeIsSolo was max level.
Didn’t seem like they’d be short on DPS.
(Guild) HouseParty: If there’s still a spot after my Territory War ends, I’ll go.
(Guild) ^Card^: Me toooo
(Guild) BaekKimchi: gasp; no way I’m waiting that long?!?!ㅠㅠ
(Guild) ^Card^: rip; lol
But since most guildies were busy, they’d probably need to grab someone else through a party finder.
(Dual Cannon) BaekKimchi: Guess I’ll recruit someone new then;
(Dragon Knight) YeUbeomjeol: Okay.
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: yyyep lol
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: yeyeyep~ but will anyone even join us? Didn’t the Spirit Association blacklist our guild... lol
(Dual Cannon) BaekKimchi: gasp; oh right;
Blacklisted?
Ye Uwon tilted his head—he hadn’t heard about this before.
(Dragon Knight) YeUbeomjeol: Blacklisted?
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: You didn’t know, huh ㄷㄷ As soon as you joined, you were in a black guild lol
(Assassin) NyamNyami: Not sure if you remember, but… the day we met, YeU-nim?
(Assassin) NyamNyami: That day, Gise-nim fought with a Spirit Priest in party chat ㅠㅠ The drama blew up big since then.
Hm… Ye Uwon vaguely remembered something like that.
But he didn’t know the full story, so he stayed quiet and listened.
(Assassin) NyamNyami: What happened was, the Spirit Priest guy kept applying to our party with some busted-ass gear.
He was like 10 levels below the recommended gear level, so we kept rejecting him, over and over.
Then he started whispering us like, “why won’t you accept me?” and stuff.
(Assassin) NyamNyami: So Gise-nim, who was party lead at the time, finally accepted the invite just to say:
“Quit whining in my DMs. Your gear is trash.”
And then immediately kicked him. lol
...He invited the guy just to flame him?
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: Ahhh;; shouldn’t have done thatㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
(Assassin) NyamNyami: But like, he really was wearing dogshit gear ㅠ That priest dude… ha...
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: gear smelled like rust bruh
Ye Uwon would’ve never done something like that, but it was Gisekki, so honestly… he wasn’t surprised.
(Assassin) NyamNyami: In the end, Gisekki and the priest got into a public brawl in front of everyone ㅠㅠ
And the priest put our whole guild on the Spirit Priest blacklist lol…
Turns out the guy was high-up in the Association……ㅠ
And the character applying to our party now is probably one of his alts
(Assassin) NyamNyami: That priest was ruthless—kept blocking our raids nonstop afterward.
We couldn’t get any runs going… and then you appeared, YeU-nim!
(Spirit Priest) LeaveTheHealingToMe: Yep, so when you joined, we finally got to start.
Even though you weren’t in the guild yet, we were scared you might get blacklisted too lololol
Ah, that explained it.
That’s why they’d rushed to start the raid right after he joined.
It was confusing at the time, but looking back now, they’d actually been trying to protect him.
(Assassin) NyamNyami: hehe we had zero history with you back then~ But now you’re an official GaeSae guildie! ^^
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: feelin’ like quitting the guild rn frfr
(Assassin) NyamNyami: excuse me, what was that you just said? ^^
(Undead) LifeIsSolo: I said Spirit Association’s full of assholes.
