It looked pretty bad.

The player standing in front of him, or rather, the woman, was fucking shining.

She wore medieval style armor and carried a big-ass sword that glowed gold like some pay-to-win bullshit.Full novel: The Exploiter's Ascension: Rise Through Broken Mechanics. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But what caught Rafael’s attention was the blue flag painted with six white stars on her chest plate... and the blue cape on her back.

That meant one thing. She was part of a guild... which was even worse.

"Look..." Rafael began as he lowered his sword. "It was an accident! I didn’t want to—"

"You fought in the Great War," the woman began. "That sword is from the Great War. You aided the South, didn’t you?"

"...what?"

Her question caught him off guard.

She raised a finger and pointed at the sword in Rafael’s hand.

"A dull Blade of the Executioner is the best blade, right? Because it kills slowly." Her eyes returned to Rafael’s face. "A maniac. That’s what you are."

Rafael was so confused that he thought he was in the middle of a role-playing situation, but slowly and surely, he started piecing things together... and it only became more confusing.

"Are you... talking about the Great War?"

"Yes, where you chose to side with those who massacred NPCs and other players. You sided with monsters."

She eyed him.

"Do you really think that now that this is reality, we humans should trust people like you?"

Rafael was... truly fucking mind-blown. He couldn’t comprehend the insanity of what she was saying.

"You..."

He looked around as if there might be someone else there who could explain what the fuck this woman was talking about.

Then he looked back at her.

"You... attacked me... because of the Halloween Event?"

"You knew what the South was doing during the event. You knew what joining them meant, and you still chose their side."

Rafael opened his mouth, but she continued before he could speak.

"Those NPCs remember the Great War. They remember their families being killed, their cities being burned, and the players who helped do it."

He was stunned of what the fuck was being said.

"It was a Halloween event... you’re insane."

"Everyone in Fersay voted on whether to imprison or kill those who participated in the Great War," she began. "You people chose the side of evil. We can’t trust any of you."

She pointed her sword at him.

"But you aren’t just an executioner of civilians..."

Rafael’s eyes shifted toward the notification.

"You killed players."

Rafael couldn’t argue with that. That feeling was still inside him, the sickening realization that he had taken real lives. He had killed people for real, no different from killing someone back on Earth.

But there was something else underneath that guilt... the reality.

"It’s a PvP zone," he said. "They knew what could happen to them."

She stared at him. "So that makes it acceptable?"

"What a hypocritical bitch you are. You want to kill me because of a Halloween event... where people got skins and weapons if they participated." He looked into her eyes. "You truly are an insane bitch and you are judging me?"

"I’m not the one judging you." Her voice came. "We all are."

She gestured toward the city around them.

"Thousands of players are here in Fersay. Once we understood that death was permanent, we voted. We established rules that every player inside this city is expected to follow."

Rafael stared at her.

"Murder. Theft. Assault. PvP. The treatment of NPCs. Even crimes committed during the Great War." Her expression hardened. "Because we’re still humans."

Her eyes shifted toward the collapsed brothel.

"Those three players had families on Earth. Friends. People who may be trapped somewhere in this world looking for them right now. And they’re never going to find them. We aren’t going to slaughter each other for experience, loot, territory, or because some system tells us we’re allowed to."

Her gaze returned to Rafael.

"Eldoria might call this a PvP zone, but we don’t." She stared into Rafael’s eyes. "And you are a war criminal and a murderer."

For a good ten seconds, Rafael didn’t say a single word, as the picture finally got all together.

"So that’s why y’all have done nothing for a week? You guys are already building your own little society, huh?"

Teleportation.

"We are humans. We need to work together, but not with people like you. Just surrender, and you’ll get a fair trial."

[Teleportation Activated.]

"My answer for your insanity... is simple. I believe in freedom." Rafael began. "In adventure."

Rafael raised his middle finger. "So go fuck yourself."

[Teleportation]

Rafael disappeared from Fersay, from the woman... and in the next instant, he was already back at Tim’s bungalow.

Moreover, he was already jumping him.

"Tim, you motherfucker!" He shouted and knocked him to the ground before he started throwing punches,

Though the protection spells on Tim worked perfectly... he felt nothing.

"You gave me the fucking Executioner’s Blade?! Are you fucking stupid?!"

He punched Tim straight in the face.

"Calm down, Rafael!"

"Calm down?!" Rafael grabbed the collar of Tim’s shirt. "You sent me there with a fucking reason to get clapped! Do you know what happened to me?! I wanted to go fuck elves, and the elves almost fucked me—"

He was stopped by a blade, its tip pressed between his eyes.

"Get off my brother."
