Su Muzhi looked at the livestream screen full of special effects and couldn’t stop smiling. She silently calculated that this week’s basic living expenses for the rescue station were already covered.

“Streamer, is it true that the vulture is into girls?”

A golden-highlighted comment took over the screen and caught her attention.Full novel: The Fake Heiress Livestreams Mind Reading: Fluffy Creatures Help Her Stage a Comeback and Become the Group’s Beloved Darling — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Of course it’s true. It likes girls.”

As she spoke, Su Muzhi walked into the enclosure. Hearing her voice, the vulture stopped rubbing against Chen Zhanye and immediately shifted its target toward her, saliva pooling and dripping straight down to the ground.

She even gave the drool a close-up. The chat exploded with laughter again.

Blackie somehow flew into the enclosure. Despite the vulture being several times larger, it showed no fear at all. It even circled it a few times before bursting into laughter:

“Hahahaha, where did you even find this idiot? This is the first time I’ve seen a mentally challenged vulture.”

Su Muzhi shot it a confused look. Blackie generously explained:

“Eyes dull, not afraid of people—clearly human-raised from a young age. Low intelligence too. Just a food-obsessed idiot.”

She gave Blackie a thumbs-up for its analysis. It matched what the police had basically said.

Blackie proudly shook its head, then slowly moved toward the livestream camera, occupying most of the frame.

“Is that Blackie? Is it doing the ‘one pair of glasses, one curse’ thing today?”

“Yes, babies. Our rescue station’s top streamer Blackie is about to make its grand entrance!”

Following Su Muzhi’s dramatic setup, Blackie raised its head proudly, flew into frame, and slowly spat out a single word:

“F***.”

The chat went briefly silent, then exploded. Comments and gifts flooded the screen, pushing the livestream popularity rapidly upward.

Chen Zhanye stared in shock at the absurd scene: every time Su Muzhi thanked viewers, Blackie immediately followed with a curse.

“Thank you everyone for the gifts. If you like our rescue station, please follow us. We’ll occasionally livestream animal daily life.”

“That’s it for today’s stream. See you next time!”

After ending the stream, Su Muzhi immediately checked the backend. In such a short time, they had earned over 4,000 in donations. After platform fees, over 2,000 remained.

She excitedly shared the news:

“Station Head Chen, we made over 2,000 today. That’s almost my monthly salary!”

Chen Zhanye finally relaxed after days of tension. He let out a long breath.

“Then let’s give the vulture a bonus meal. The fattest rat.”

He waved his hand and tossed a fat rat from the feeding bucket into the enclosure.

The vulture immediately perked up, flapping its wings like an old man rushing forward.

The rat, sensing danger, ran wildly. After a few rounds, the vulture finally caught its tail and pinned it down.

But the rat, in desperation, turned around and bit the vulture’s foot.

The vulture yelped and let go.

The rat escaped.

A miserable scream echoed:

“It hurts! It hurts!”

“I’m never eating live rats again!”

Just as Su Muzhi and Chen Zhanye were about to leave, they turned back at the noise. From Chen’s perspective, it looked like the vulture was happily eating.

“It’s eating pretty fast,” he said.

Su Muzhi hesitated.

“Is it possible… it hasn’t eaten yet and just got bitten?”

“Impossible—”

He stopped mid-sentence.

The white bird was now frantically digging in a corner.

Silence.

“…I must not be awake yet,” Chen muttered.

Still, he quickly grabbed the rat and threw it back.

But the rat now terrified the vulture. It refused to pin it down.

“It’s moving! I can’t!”

For the first time, they encountered a genuinely rat-phobic predator.

“Try knocking it out,” Su Muzhi suggested.

After doing so, the vulture finally ate the rat.

After settling that, they checked on Fei Buhao and Wukanjian. With companionship, Wukanjian’s condition improved significantly. The rescue station finally enjoyed a rare half month of stability.

“Feels like I’ve lived through half a century. Finally some peace in the office.”

Work had become routine: livestream feeding, occasional animal performances. Mornings were now manageable.

“It’s like we don’t even have enough cages anymore,” Chen Zhanye joked.

“Yeah. I’m seriously starting to think I attract injured animals wherever I go,” Su Muzhi replied.

“Don’t jinx it,” he said.

Her phone suddenly vibrated violently.

An unknown number.

She hesitated, then answered.

Her expression immediately turned serious.

“My sister has to attend a parent-teacher meeting tomorrow. I need to take leave.”

After hanging up, she stared at the phone.

“Your sister?” Chen asked.

“Not biological. A friend’s sister. Their parents are abroad, so I’m going in their place.”

He nodded. Then, noticing her tension:

“What happened?”

“The teacher said it’s serious.”
