Qin Huai opened his mouth but did not know what to say. After all, the food was delicious and he did not feel unwell. He remained dazed for a long while before shaking his head to indicate that he had no problems at all.

“That is good.” Seeing that Qin Huai was truly fine, Shen Yuzhi finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat down beside him.

Shen Yuzhi had originally intended to investigate the matter regarding Ling Feng’s office building, but now it seemed he had no time for that. He handed the task to his subordinates and hurried home alone.Full novel: The Fallen Beauty Becomes the Mob Boss’s Possession — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“It is not safe for you to stay at Song Zhe’s villa now. You should just stay here instead.”

Qin Huai lowered his head immediately upon hearing this, as he had only just found some peace. He could understand that Shen Yuzhi meant well, but this was no different from imprisonment.

Qin Huai did not want to repeat the past under any circumstances. He did not want to remain locked in this villa by Shen Yuzhi; even if he was provided with everything, he absolutely refused to lose his freedom.

Therefore, this time, Qin Huai retorted directly: “No! I have my own place to live, and I have things I need to deal with right now. How can I stay here permanently?”

Seeing the firm look in Qin Huai’s eyes, Shen Yuzhi fell silent for a moment. He looked up, seemingly scrutinizing Qin Huai, but a look of contemptuous mockery appeared at the corner of his mouth, which made Qin Huai feel extremely uncomfortable.

“If people find out you are pregnant now, it will probably be a trending topic very soon. What kind of headline do you want?”

Listening to Shen Yuzhi’s words, Qin Huai understood clearly, even if he were foolish, that Shen Yuzhi wanted to use the child in his womb to threaten him.

In this way, Qin Huai would be thrust into the spotlight.

Qin Huai furrowed his brows, his eyes filled with helplessness and sadness. He had originally trusted Shen Yuzhi quite a bit, but he had not expected that Shen Yuzhi would be so despicable as to threaten him over such a small matter.

“Let me tell you, Shen Yuzhi! Even if this child is yours, I will not let you manipulate me. Who do you think you are? You want to control my freedom? Forget it!”

Qin Huai roared at Shen Yuzhi, and the surrounding atmosphere turned eerily tense. The housekeeper, who had been standing by the dining table, silently slipped away, leaving only Shen Yuzhi and Qin Huai to confront each other.

However, Qin Huai did not give Shen Yuzhi the chance to explain further. After finishing his statement, he left the dining table first and turned toward the door, attempting to leave.

He was blocked by Shen Yuzhi, who had stood up to intercept him. The expression on Shen Yuzhi’s face made Qin Huai feel extremely uncomfortable, but he did not want to have any physical contact with him. After all, Shen Yuzhi was an Alpha, and he was an Omega; there was a massive disparity between them no matter how one looked at it.

“What is the point of glaring at me? Qin Huai, are you truly ignorant, or are you just playing dumb? Do you think I want to keep you in this villa to imprison you?”

Shen Yuzhi furrowed his brows, his expression filled with pain, much like how he looked years ago when Qin Huai had left him.

Qin Huai saw it and felt the pain in his heart, but he knew that if he softened his heart now, the result would be the same as it was a month ago. Qin Huai told himself that he would not repeat his mistakes.

“But Shen Yuzhi! If you were really thinking about me, you would not control me like this!”

Neither of them would yield. Standing at the door, they began to shout. Qin Huai was so angry that his face turned red, and his whole body trembled.

If he stayed in Shen Yuzhi’s villa indefinitely, he might become completely out of touch with the world. By then, if Cheng Shangjian plotted behind his back and took over the entire Cheng family, Qin Huai would be the one left crying. Furthermore, there were Lin Xingxue and the troublesome Cheng An. If these people united to cause trouble, Qin Huai would have nowhere to turn.

“I can roughly guess what you are thinking, so you can complete your tasks even if you stay here. It is not that I will not let you go back to the company, but I want you to rest in the villa for the time being.”

Before he knew it, Shen Yuzhi’s tone had softened considerably, and he felt quite helpless facing Qin Huai.

However, Qin Huai had already made up his mind not to stay in the villa. Regarding this, they remained at odds, neither willing to concede. One side insisted on moving out, while the other insisted on having the person stay.

They ended up having a huge argument, and Qin Huai did not even have time to eat his meal before slamming the door and leaving. He hailed a taxi and went to the Song family’s villa.

When he arrived, Song Zhe was singing passionately. When he saw Qin Huai, he did not immediately process the situation and enthusiastically invited him to sing along.

He even said, “Why are you back so early? Did that brat Shen Yuzhi not treat you to dinner? Oh my god! What is going on? Why are you back? Did he not say you had to stay in his villa? What happened?”

Song Zhe was shocked, supporting Qin Huai by his shoulders as he guided him to the sofa and kept questioning him.

Qin Huai sniffled. Though he did not end up crying, he looked miserable. Despite his reluctance, he told his friend everything that had happened.

Upon learning that they had had a major argument, Song Zhe was incensed.

“How could he do that? No matter what, we cannot let him get his way! If you do not want to stay at home, I can accompany you to work. Do not refuse me! What if he sends someone to the company to grab you?”

Seeing how nervous Song Zhe was, Qin Huai felt a sense of warmth in his heart.

“Rest assured, I definitely will not be so foolish as to let them know. Only you and Shen Yuzhi know about this now. I do not think he will talk about it casually. Even if he forced me away, would he choose to do it at the company?”

After listening to Qin Huai, Song Zhe felt his point was reasonable. He nodded frantically while observing Qin Huai’s complexion.

“You do not need to worry too much. We are still safe for now. It is just that I had a huge fight with him today, and I do not know what will happen next.”

Qin Huai sighed as he spoke, his complexion poor. He felt extremely exhausted and leaned back on the sofa, closing his eyes.

“If you are tired, go to sleep. I will come to accompany you tomorrow, okay?”

Song Zhe smiled, looking exceptionally genuine, which made Qin Huai smile as well.

They reached an agreement, and the next day, Song Zhe really accompanied Qin Huai to work.

However, on Shen Yuzhi’s side, the argument with Qin Huai had left him in a foul mood. After sweeping everything off the dining table, his anger was still not vented. After pacing the villa twice, he drove to the bar he frequented.

Because he visited often, the owner and staff recognized him. Seeing Shen Yuzhi arrive, they hurriedly led him to a booth. They did not even need him to speak; they immediately brought him the drink he usually had.

Shen Yuzhi sat in the booth, staring downward at the ice cubes clicking against the glass. He sighed, his mood exceptionally complicated.

He had wanted to protect Qin Huai, but perhaps his methods had been too harsh, leading Qin Huai to have such a bitter argument and leave the villa. If he had used a different method, he might have been able to keep Qin Huai in the villa now.

Shen Yuzhi could not help but sigh, furrowing his brows in distress. A waiter nearby wanted to strike up a conversation, but he was scared off by Shen Yuzhi’s cold expression.

As Shen Yuzhi swirled his glass, he scanned his surroundings, hoping to find a suitable prey in the bar, but after looking for a long time, he found no one.

Just when Shen Yuzhi felt completely bored, a wave of commotion broke out at the entrance. At first, he was not interested, but then he heard the voices of several customers and waiters.

“It is Ji Sui!”

This sentence made Shen Yuzhi narrow his eyes. He looked toward the entrance and saw a flamboyant man in sunglasses greeting a group of people.

It was indeed Ji Sui.

Shen Yuzhi could not help but furrow his brows tightly again. He had not expected this guy to show up, and so ostentatiously at that, which gave him a headache.

Ji Sui, however, had just landed from abroad. Upon landing, he had found a bar to have a wild time, but he had not expected to run into Shen Yuzhi, who was drowning his sorrows. He was pleasantly surprised.

Because of Ji Sui’s arrival, the entire bar was in an uproar. Customers who had been drinking quietly were now chattering excitedly, crowding around the entrance.

This ruined Shen Yuzhi’s mood for drinking. He put down his glass, furrowing his brows in dissatisfaction. Even the singers on stage became excited and joined the crowd of customers at the door.

Shen Yuzhi pinched his brow bone hard and sighed helplessly.

He could not leave now, as the entrance was blocked. He had to sit there and wait for the crowd to disperse.

Naturally, Ji Sui noticed Shen Yuzhi drinking nearby. He happily rushed forward and threw his arms around Shen Yuzhi’s shoulders, acting completely uninhibited.

“I did not expect to run into you here, Young Master Shen! How lucky! It has been such a long time since we saw each other. I just returned to the country and ran into you!”

Looking at the overly familiar man, Shen Yuzhi said nothing, only gripping his glass tightly, his expression cold. Ji Sui could not help but laugh.

“What is wrong? It has been so long, are you not happy to see an old friend? Why the long face?”

After saying this, Ji Sui sat down beside Shen Yuzhi, summoned a waiter to order a drink, and asked him cheerfully.
