The car pulled up to the gate of Wen University. Sang Ying pushed open the door and stepped out. Xia Tingwang rolled down the window. Sang Ying was silhouetted against the night, her figure thin and straight. Even though they were both Alphas, Ding Han, who stood beside her, did not possess the same captivating presence.
Not until Sang Ying had disappeared into the campus did Xia Tingwang withdraw her gaze and instruct Zhuang Yan to drive on.
The events of the evening had caused the little streamer some distress, and Sang Ying had remained silent throughout the entire ride back. Xia Tingwang frowned and opened her phone, wanting to offer a few words of comfort. However, as her finger hovered over Sang Ying’s WeChat, she realized that for a dignified CEO to be so concerned about someone, and an Alpha at that, was beneath her dignity.
She closed WeChat, thought for a moment, and opened Weibo, intending to chat with Sang Ying via private message as Yinyin77.
After freshening up, Sang Ying sat on her bed under the glow of a small desk lamp, studying the functions and application methods of the beauty products. She knew nothing about makeup and was a complete novice; she had to explore and learn it bit by bit.
When she opened Weibo to search for beauty bloggers, she saw two private messages.
It was Yinyin77.
“Your livestream tonight was great.”
“I will continue to wait in the livestream room tomorrow night. Keep going.”
Sang Ying was stunned. Tonight’s livestream had switched to the official VW account; it was no longer the Qingdeng Skincare Livestream that only had a few followers. How had this Yinyin77 found her livestream?
On second thought, VW was so popular that today’s peak viewership had reached five or six million. It was not strange at all for Yinyin77 to have seen it.
Sang Ying felt a different kind of affection for Yinyin77. Receiving her greetings made her heart feel warm.
“Thank you. I would like to ask, have you used the Qingdeng products you bought last time? How do they feel?”
“If you have dry skin, you must try the mask.”
When Xia Tingwang saw this message, she was currently wearing a hydrating silk mask that her own laboratory had customized specifically for her. She had not used the box of Qingdeng products she had bought earlier; they had been sent to the lab for testing and remained there.
As she looked at Sang Ying asking about her experience, she pondered for a long time before replying truthfully: I have not started using them yet.
“You can tell me how you feel after using them at any time. I am your exclusive after-sales service.”
“Exclusive after-sales service.”
Xia Tingwang smiled as she looked at this sentence. Why did the word “exclusive” sound so pleasant?
The next morning, Xia Tingwang looked at the box Zhuang Yan had retrieved from the lab and summoned several young housemaids. The maids stood obediently before her, and Xia Tingwang asked, “Who has dry skin?”
The maids kept their heads down, until two of them slowly raised their hands. “I do.”
Xia Tingwang took out the masks. “There is a type of mask here. Try them out and see the results.”
The two maids looked at each other, confused.
“And these lotions. Is there anyone here with oily skin?” Xia Tingwang took out the rest of the items.
An oily-skinned maid stepped forward. Xia Tingwang distributed all the products to the maids and said, “Stop using your current skincare products and try these. Remember to write down your feedback, especially for this mask; tell me about its hydrating effects.”
The maids took the skincare products and nodded one after another. “Yes, Miss.”
Once the matter was settled, Xia Tingwang waved them away, took out her phone, and sent a private message to Sang Ying.
“I will give you feedback very soon.”
The foundation issue was resolved by Xia Tingwang; she dismissed Team Leader Cai and had Bai Li rearrange the personnel responsible for the livestream. After this incident, everyone could see that Xia Tingwang was protecting Sang Ying.
For a time, people could not help but speculate about Sang Ying’s background.
When Sang Ying went to work, she discovered that her colleagues’ attitudes were different from yesterday; they had become quite enthusiastic.
“Sang Ying,” the Beta who did her makeup said with a grin, “You can ask me anything you do not understand.”
Sang Ying was indeed quite confused. Holding the two air cushions she would use for the night’s stream, she asked, “The ingredients are the same, and other than the shade, I do not see any difference. Why do they sell for different prices?”
The makeup artist glanced at the air cushions and said, “The packaging is different. One is a new model released this year, and the other is an older one. The texture is the same. The new model is heavier, so it is a bit more expensive.”
Sang Ying compared them and only then noticed the difference in weight. “So that is how it is. What about this lipstick?”
The makeup artist leaned in and explained things to her one by one. The other staff members were also polite and chatty with Sang Ying.
At six o’clock in the evening, several people in chef uniforms with “Jinshixuan” embroidered on their chests arrived at the livestream room, carrying ingredients. One of the older ones asked, “May I ask who Sang Ying is?”
Sang Ying, who was busy testing products, looked up. “I am.”
“We were arranged by CEO Xia to prepare dinner for everyone. Do you have any dietary restrictions?”
Everyone gasped. Who in Wen City did not know about Jinshixuan? It was a famous state banquet restaurant; how could ordinary people afford to eat their food?
Sang Ying did not know the reputation of Jinshixuan, but she was baffled by the fact that CEO Xia had arranged this. She shook her head.
The chef smiled. “Then we will prepare a mix of meat and vegetables for everyone. Where is the kitchen?”
Sang Ying pointed in a direction, and the chefs carried the ingredients into the kitchen. At this point, the others could not hold it in anymore and crowded around Sang Ying.
“Sang Ying, what is your relationship with CEO Xia?”
“Why is CEO Xia so good to you? What is your background?”
“Jinshixuan, oh my god! I never dreamed I would be able to eat food from Jinshixuan.”
Sang Ying realized belatedly that Jinshixuan was probably a very prestigious place. Facing everyone’s curiosity, she said, “I have no relationship with CEO Xia. I am just an ordinary subordinate like you all.”
She was frank and open; there was nothing she could not say.
The others were not satisfied with the answer and looked skeptical. “We have worked at VW for so long, and as low-level employees, it is hard to even see CEO Xia once. We are ordinary subordinates, but you certainly are not.”
How could a CEO be this good to an ordinary subordinate?
“I really am an ordinary subordinate,” Sang Ying said as she glanced at her phone. “I have to take a call.”
She rose and went to the balcony, where she accepted her father’s video call.
“Have you eaten?” Her father’s voice lifted Sang Ying’s spirits.
“I will eat in a bit.” Sang Ying walked to the balcony corner. In the video, her father was eating. “What are you having?”
Her father held up his bowl to show her. “Zha Jiang Mian.”
At the mention of Zha Jiang Mian, Sang Ying unconsciously swallowed. “I want to eat the noodles you make.”
“When you come back, Dad will make them for you. I will make them every day,” her father laughed. “How much longer until winter break?”
“Next Friday, after the final exams.”
“Next Thursday? That would be the 20th day of the twelfth lunar month. Will you have to tutor students until a day or two before the New Year again?”
“Mm.” Sang Ying did not tell her father about her startup or the livestreaming. She spoke vaguely, “I will not be back early.”
“You,” her father sighed helplessly. “Take care of your health; do not work too hard. I think this prosthetic leg can still be used for a long time. I do not really need it at home, just for going out. I do not like going out much anyway, so I barely use it.”
A lump suddenly formed in Sang Ying’s throat. She forced it down and said in a light tone, “What can we do? I have already made an appointment with the doctor and paid the deposit. It is a done deal.”
After Sang Ying left, Ding Han became the target of everyone’s bombardment.
“Is your family very rich?”
Ding Han gave an awkward smile. “No, we are just ordinary seniors.”
“Then how did CEO Xia meet you two?”
Ding Han thought for a moment and said, “At the gate of CEO Xia’s house.”
Everyone scanned Ding Han from head to toe. And you still say you are not familiar with CEO Xia? You even know where her house is.
Ding Han realized the mistake and hurriedly waved her hands. “It is not what you think; it was just a coincidence.”
“We understand.” The Oga in charge of operations gave her a “we know what you mean” look.
Ding Han blinked. Understand what? She did not even understand it herself.
She shivered and ran to the balcony, where Sang Ying was still on a video call. Ding Han leaned against the balcony with her arms crossed, watching.
Sang Ying saw her expression of wanting to speak but holding back, and after saying a few words to her father, she ended the call. “What is it?”
“Do not you think you are having a stroke of luck with romance?” Ding Han smiled.
Sang Ying shrugged. “Boring.”
“She appeared out of thin air to sign a contract with us; no, with you,” Ding Han counted on her fingers. “She drove us back to school, took us out to eat, stood up for you yesterday, and today she hired a master chef to come over and cook, specifically asking if you had any dietary restrictions.”
Ding Han leaned closer to Sang Ying. “Do not you think this is reasonable? It is not, right? There is only one answer that explains it: she likes you and is pursuing you.”
Sang Ying felt a tingle in her ears. Everyone could see the lack of logic in all this; she was not stupid and could tell. But why? They had only known each other for a short time; Xia Tingwang had no reason to like her so easily.
“How could that be?” Sang Ying said. “I am just an unremarkable Alpha.”
Before she could finish, Ding Han grabbed her arm and pointed down. “Look, is that CEO Xia?”
Sang Ying looked down and saw Xia Tingwang wearing a red coat as she emerged from the building opposite, gripping Zhuang Yan’s arm tightly as she headed toward their building.
“Your romance has arrived,” Ding Han said with a smile.
Sang Ying could clearly feel her heartbeat accelerating.
Xia Tingwang came to the livestream room and had dinner with everyone. During the evening stream, she sat on the sofa to the side, which made the staff extremely nervous.
The Fantasy foundation was given away to consumers through a lottery, and the matter was resolved satisfactorily.
After the livestream ended, Xia Tingwang went to take the two of them back to school again. Sang Ying walked to the car and refused to get in. “CEO Xia, Ding Han and I will take the subway back. We will not trouble you to drive us.”
Sang Ying had calculated the route; from here to the school and then back to the villa area, it would take more than two hours.
“It is not trouble,” Xia Tingwang watched her through the car window. “Get in.”
Ding Han had already opened the passenger door and sat down obediently. Just kidding! A big CEO is pursuing her best friend; of course, she had to provide an assist. She would absolutely help Xia Tingwang wherever she could.
She had to help Xia Tingwang win over Sang Ying, this big wooden block who only knew how to make money, as soon as possible.
