Su Man’s heart skipped half a beat.

But who was she?

She was the notorious Ghost Doctor of the Hundred Thousand Mountains, a ruthless woman bold enough to ride into a military camp on a wild boar with her children.Full novel: The Fiery Miaojiang Wife Comes to the Border to Break Off Her Military Marriage — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

This little scene was nowhere near enough to intimidate her.

“So what if it was me?”

Su Man sneered. She abruptly twisted her wrist and, with a clever burst of force, shook Huo Feng’s hand away.

She looked down at the man who had just crawled back from the gates of death, her eyes carrying a hint of disdain.

“What? Captain Huo, are you planning to welch on your debt, or are you hoping to rekindle our old relationship?”

“I’m warning you, what happened just now was purely a medical procedure. Don’t read too much into it.”

“And another thing—the special treatment fee costs extra. Five thousand yuan per session. No negotiations.”

Huo Feng froze.

He had imagined countless versions of their reunion.

Perhaps she would cry as she told him how much she had missed him.

Perhaps she would coldly turn around and walk away.

But he had never imagined that this woman would talk about money every other sentence, nor that she would describe such an intimate, heart-fluttering encounter as casually as buying cabbages at a market.

The intimate atmosphere was instantly drenched in a bucket of cold water.

Huo Feng braced himself against the bed and tried to sit upright.

His mind was still somewhat hazy, but his rationality was rapidly returning.

He looked at the woman before him. The Miao silver ornaments on her body jingled softly, while her bare feet looked dazzlingly white beneath the dim light.

This was the woman he had searched for, thought about, and hated for five years.

“Su Man.”

He repeated her name, his voice deep and powerful.

“I, Huo Feng, have never welched on a debt.”

“Whether it’s money or feelings.”

His gaze sharpened, as though he wanted to see straight through Su Man’s soul.

“If it really was you five years ago, then these two children…”

“The children have nothing to do with you.”

Su Man interrupted him directly, waving her hand impatiently.

“I told you, I only came to borrow your seed and collect a little interest.”

“Since you didn’t die, then we’ll follow the terms of our agreement.”

“Now, can you move? If you can, hurry up and get up and arrange somewhere for us to stay.”

“The children and I have been traveling for days, and Dahua is hungry too. If you don’t feed it soon, it’s going to start chewing on the pillars of your barracks.”

Without caring about Huo Feng’s reaction, she turned around and opened the infirmary door.

Blinding sunlight immediately poured inside, dispelling the lingering intimacy in the room.

Outside the door, a group of grown men who had been secretly listening with their ears pressed against the door were caught off guard and nearly tumbled into a heap.

“Sis… Sister-in-law!”

Zhang Li scratched his head awkwardly, though his eyes could not help but glance into the room.

“The Commander…”

“He won’t die.”

Su Man casually tossed out the words before walking straight toward Huo Xiaoxie, who was nearby playing in the dirt with his little sister.

Inside the room, Huo Feng took a deep breath.

He glanced at the wound on the back of his hand, which had already scabbed over, then touched his lips. The faint herbal fragrance unique to that woman seemed to still linger there.

That genuine sensation told him that none of this was a dream.

He really had a wife.

And he had a pair of twins.

An unprecedented sense of responsibility, along with an inexplicable surge of joy, churned through his chest.

He threw off the blanket and strode outside.

Although his steps were still somewhat unsteady, the imposing presence of the “Wolf Head” was stronger than ever.

“Everyone, assemble!”

His thunderous shout echoed across the sky.

The soldiers who had been whispering among themselves instinctively snapped to attention and quickly formed neat ranks.

Even the giant wild boar, Dahua, which had been rooting around in the dirt, was startled by the shout. It let out a grunt before obediently lying down.

Huo Feng stood on the steps, his gaze sweeping across the familiar faces before finally settling on Su Man and the two children standing at the front.

He looked at Huo Xiaoxie, whose face seemed almost identical to his own as a child, then at Huo Xiaoman, who was sitting on the boar’s back and making faces at him.

The corners of Huo Feng’s eyes grew slightly hot, but he stubbornly held back the emotion.

“I have two things to announce.”

His booming voice carried throughout the entire camp.

“First, Comrade Su Man is my lawful wife.”

“And those two children are mine.”

The entire camp erupted into an uproar.

Although everyone had already more or less guessed it, hearing their commander acknowledge it personally still caused a commotion.

Su Man raised an eyebrow. She was just about to dispute the word “lawful” when Huo Feng’s next words left her speechless.

“Second, starting today, they will be staying temporarily in the camp.”

“Logistics, clear out a family residence. The largest one, with good sunlight.”

“And another thing…”

Huo Feng paused, his gaze becoming somewhat complicated as he looked toward the enormous wild boar.

“Arrange a private room for that pig too.”

“Huh?”

Liu Pangzi, the man in charge of logistics, opened his mouth wide, his expression looking as though he were suffering from severe constipation.

“C-Commander, arranging a room for people is no problem, but this pig… This is a military camp, not a pig farm!”

“And that pig looks bigger than a cow! A normal pigsty wouldn’t even be able to contain it!”

The moment Liu Pangzi finished speaking, Dahua seemed to understand that someone was criticizing it.

It suddenly stood up, snorted two thick streams of air from its nose, and stomped heavily toward Liu Pangzi.

Its pair of gleaming white tusks stopped less than ten centimeters from Liu Pangzi’s stomach.

“Snort!”

Dahua gave Liu Pangzi a loud snort, spraying his face with saliva and bits of mud.

Liu Pangzi’s legs went weak with fright, and he nearly dropped to his knees on the spot.

Huo Xiaoman giggled from the boar’s back and called out in her childish voice,

“Uncle Pang, Dahua doesn’t sleep in a pigsty. It wants to sleep on a bed!”

“A bed! A bed! It absolutely must sleep on a bed!”

Liu Pangzi shouted through tears, terrified that this enormous beast would impale his stomach.

Huo Feng watched the scene, the corners of his mouth twitching uncontrollably.

His once serious and dignified special forces camp was probably going to be turned completely upside down from this day onward.

“All right. Stop embarrassing yourself.”

Huo Feng glared at Liu Pangzi before striding over to Su Man.

He stopped half a meter away from her, his gaze burning intensely.

“Whether you admit it or not, the moment you stepped through this gate, you became part of the Huo family.”

“I’ll pay the child support, but my wife and children don’t need money to maintain a relationship with me.”

“I’ll prove to you that I’m worth far more than one hundred thousand.”

Su Man looked at the man before her, whose entire body radiated powerful masculine energy, and inexplicably felt a flutter of nervousness.

This man had recovered far too quickly.

And that look in his eyes… no matter how she looked at it, he resembled a wolf that had already locked onto its prey.

“Stop talking nonsense. Lead the way.”

Su Man avoided his gaze and took Huo Xiaoxie’s hand.

“Son, come on. Let’s go see our new home.”

Huo Xiaoxie gave Huo Feng a cold glance without saying a word, but obediently followed Su Man.

Huo Feng watched the backs of the mother and son, along with the wild boar swaggering behind them.

He rubbed his chin, and that usually stern face unexpectedly revealed an extremely rare, slightly roguish smile.

“Trying to run?”

“You’ve already entered the wolf’s den. You really think you can leave unscathed?”

“Dream on.”
