◆ Asteria

The world where the story takes place. For centuries, humanity in Asteria has lived alongside monsters, defending its cities, towns and villages against creatures that cross into the world through Breaches.

◆ BreachesFull novel: The First Infinite Weapon Master — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Supernatural rifts through which monsters enter Asteria. Breaches are one of the main reasons humanity developed Awakening, living armaments and organized military forces.

◆ Monsters

Supernatural creatures found throughout Asteria, especially in wilderness areas affected by Breaches. Any monster can be described in three separate ways:

Species — what kind of creature it is, such as a Giant Wolf or a Giant Boar.

Rank — how dangerous that individual monster is overall.C

ore Power — the supernatural property carried in its core.

These three things are separate. Two monsters of the same species can have different ranks and different powers.

◆ Awakening

A compulsory ceremony every person in Asteria undergoes at 18. Birth and status don’t decide who succeeds, so nobles, commoners and orphans all receive the same chance.

A successful Awakening:

activates the person’s Armament Core;

bonds them to a living armament;allows them to cultivate.

Success isn’t guaranteed. Those who fail remain ordinary and cannot cultivate.

◆ Awakened

Anyone who has successfully undergone Awakening and now has an active Armament Core and a bonded living armament.

◆ Armament Core

The supernatural core inside an awakened human, located spiritually around the chest. It:

receives and refines mana;

supports cultivation;powers the bonded armament;

grows in usable capacity as the cultivator advances.

A human Armament Core is not the same thing as a monster core. They are completely different structures.

◆ Living Armament

A supernatural weapon bonded to an awakened person’s Armament Core. It can be summoned and dismissed at will. Unlike an ordinary weapon, it can channel its wielder’s energy and can be developed further with compatible monster cores. Every armament belongs to a weapon class, such as sword, spear or axe.

◆ Mana

The ambient supernatural energy present throughout Asteria. Awakened humans draw it into their Armament Cores to cultivate and use it to power their abilities. Before a cultivator can do anything with mana, they first have to learn to sense it.

◆ Cultivation

How awakened humans grow stronger. A cultivator senses the mana around them, draws it into the Armament Core, circulates it through the body along the Armament Pathways, and returns it to the core in a more refined state. Each stable cycle strengthens the cultivator a little at a time.

Cultivation improves:

physical capability;

Armament Core capacity;

control over energy.

Monster cores are not cultivation fuel.

Cultivation Ranks (lowest to highest):

Kindled

Tempered

Resonant

Ascendant

Dominion

Sovereign

Origin

Every rank contains three substages:

Trace → Brand → Crest

Trace — the beginning of the rank.

Brand — the strengthened middle stage.

Crest — the completed stage, just before breaking through to the next rank.

A newly awakened cultivator begins at Kindled Trace.

◆ Monster Cores

Supernatural cores recovered from slain monsters. Their most important use is giving abilities to living armaments. A compatible core bonded into an armament can grant it a special power, which is how many awakened fighters come to wield abilities like fire or lightning. Absorbing a monster core directly into the body is dangerous.

Three rules to remember:

Monster cores do not increase cultivation directly.

Monster cores do not unlock weapon classes.

Monster cores can grant or evolve weapon abilities.

◆ Core Powers

The supernatural property carried by a monster core, such as Fire, Lightning or Metal. When a core is bonded into a living armament, the armament gains that property. Some powers can develop into stronger evolved forms.

◆ Monster Ranks

Asteria ranks monsters by how dangerous they are (lowest to highest):

Prowler — Entry-level supernatural threat.

Stalker — Serious danger to inexperienced awakened fighters.Ravager — Can overwhelm inexperienced teams.

Siege — Settlement-level military threat.

Tyrant — Major subjugation target requiring experienced forces.

Calamity — Regional disaster-class threat.

Cataclysm — Capable of devastating cities or major territories.

Extinction — Highest conventional rank; potentially nation-threatening.

Monster Rank measures the overall threat of an individual monster. It is separate from species and core power.

◆ Great Families

Powerful hereditary martial houses, each built around a specific weapon tradition and backed by its own military organization. A Great Family governs and protects a wider territory, including the towns, villages and ordinary people within it. Generations of bonding with the same weapon have given each family an inherited affinity for its class.

Established Great Families:

House Ferrers — Sword lineage

House Mowbray — Spear lineage

House de Clare — Axe lineage

You don’t need a family’s blood to awaken its weapon. Talented outsiders who awaken the same class can be recruited into that family’s military and rise through its ranks.

◆ Infinite Arsenal

A private system that only Owen can see. It organizes weapons into broad Master Weapon Classes, tracks his progression, and can interact with compatible monster cores.

◆ Master Weapon Classes

The broad categories the Infinite Arsenal sorts weapons into. Each Master Class covers a whole family of related weapons rather than a single weapon.

Blades — Unlocked

Other Master Classes — Locked◆ Blades

Owen’s first available Master Weapon Class. It covers multiple bladed weapon configurations. Owen began with sword forms, the weapon he grew up training with as a Ferrers.

◆ Class Mastery

How proficient Owen has become with a Master Weapon Class, tracked by the Infinite Arsenal as a percentage.

Mastery is not cultivation.

Mastery is not a stat.

Mastery increases through genuine learning, training and application of a weapon class.

Reaching the required mastery eventually allows further Arsenal progression.

◆ Status

Owen’s private measurements of his body and Armament Core. These aren’t a public ranking system, and nobody else in Asteria can see them.

Strength — Physical force and output.

Agility — Speed, movement and bodily responsiveness.

Endurance — Physical stamina and the ability to sustain exertion.

Perception — The ability to notice, process and react to sensory information.

Core Capacity — The amount of usable power Owen’s Armament Core can store and sustain.

Stats rise mainly through cultivation and physical development. Hard training or demanding combat can produce smaller gains when it genuinely pushes Owen’s limits.

Killing monsters does not directly award stat points.

That’s everything you need to know for now. The glossary will be updated as Owen discovers more about Asteria and the Infinite Arsenal.
