Wu Yixiao paused mid-step. Looking at Jiang Zhuo, he had the distinct feeling a fox was waving its paw at him.
Jiang Zhuo: “Come here, come here, I’ve got something good to show you!”
Hearing the words “something good,” with extra emphasis on top of that, Wu Yixiao felt like a minor character who had no business seeing it. He hesitated inwardly, but his body still leaned in.
When he saw that this “something good” really was a video, he instantly started wondering whether he was about to be silenced forever. Then Qiu Fenghua’s cursing came from the recording.
Wu Yixiao was interested at once. Looking closer, he saw Qiu Fenghua drop with a thud, landing straight on both knees at the entrance of the lobby, while several people rushed forward in a noisy flurry to help him up.
He quickly dragged it back by hand and watched it again.
Jiang Zhuo sat beside him, leisurely twirling a pen in his hand, looking completely at ease. “Who knows what bad things he’s done, kneeling that devoutly.”
Wu Yixiao gave Jiang Zhuo a thumbs-up. Jiang Zhuo hurried to disclaim it. “Wasn’t me. I was just sitting in the lobby and happened to run into it, so I kept it as a souvenir.”
Watching the video was nowhere near as funny as seeing it happen live. At the time, he had laughed out loud without the slightest restraint.
Wu Yixiao didn’t care whether he had fallen on his own or how exactly he had ended up on his knees. Anyway, his mood had improved, and he felt this kid really knew what he was doing. Definitely someone with potential.
Over the whole day, Jiang Zhuo just played with Lego and cleared game levels. Wu Yixiao thought the kid was actually pretty well-behaved, quiet and not troublesome.
The next morning, Qiu Xianzhi was woken by a burst of knocking at the door. Still groggy from just waking up, he thought maybe he’d slept through his alarm and gotten up late. But when he checked the time, well then, there were still ten minutes left before the alarm was due to ring, and Jiang Zhuo was already outside calling away with great enthusiasm.
Jiang Zhuo: “Qiu Xianzhi, Uncle Qiu, Ah Xian, A-Zhi, Boss, time to get up!”
Jiang Zhuo went through every form of address in one go, shouting through the crack of the door, so his voice came out muffled.
Qiu Xianzhi had no choice but to get up. He worked so hard precisely so that when he didn’t want to go to work, he wouldn’t have to, not so he could be chased off to work by an alarm clock.
For three days straight, Jiang Zhuo knocked on his door right on time every day. The reason he was so diligent about following Qiu Xianzhi off to work was not because he was especially motivated, it was entirely because he’d been captivated by the Lego.
He just wanted to finish building it as soon as possible. Qiu Xianzhi had said he could bring it back to The Villa, but Jiang Zhuo thought that would be too much trouble. He said that once he got home, he’d slack off and definitely wouldn’t finish it well.
Qiu Xianzhi could only let him have his way. After all, staying up late and working overtime had long since become normal for him.
But Boss Qiu’s patience had its limits. On one weekend morning, Jiang Zhuo still went and knocked on his door as usual.
Grinding his teeth in irritation, Qiu Xianzhi directly told the housekeeper to find Jiang Zhuo a School and send him there to study. He was too noisy.
Uncle Zhong, who had come in to help Qiu Xianzhi get up, froze for a moment, thinking he must have misheard.
Qiu Xianzhi: “He’s too noisy all day long.”
Turning to look at Qiu Xianzhi and confirming he hadn’t heard wrong, Uncle Zhong nodded calmly, though inwardly he was overjoyed.
Didn’t this count as their young master finally meeting his natural enemy? Poor Qiu Xianzhi too, with Jiang Zhuo’s endless energy, bouncing around every day like a monkey.
Uncle Zhong: “It’s not August yet. I’ll get things arranged first.”
With that, Uncle Zhong left the room all smiles. Sure enough, keeping Jiang Zhuo back then had been the right decision.
