“Really?” Gu Wanshi asked with interest. “Who is it?”

Feng Kefei coughed awkwardly a couple times before saying, “It’s my ex-boyfriend… He used to be a player, then became a coach after retiring, but later he resigned over some incident. But I can guarantee you, his ability is absolutely top-tier.”

Gu Wanshi naturally wasn’t going to take Feng Kefei’s word for her ex-boyfriend’s ability just like that, so she asked for his name and looked him up online.Full novel: The Get-Rich System: The True Heiress Stuns the World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lin Yifan had originally been the captain of UK Team, primarily playing support. Not only was his technical skill excellent, his in-game leadership was extremely strong too, he’d once led UK Team to a national championship.

Later, once he’d aged out of playing competitively, he retired and became UK Team’s coach, leading them to several more championships during his time as coach.

But apparently, about six months ago, he’d been accused of taking a bribe from a rival team, deliberately setting a flawed strategy and forcing his players to follow it, causing the team to lose, and as a result, UK Team had fired him.

Seeing Gu Wanshi’s frown, Feng Kefei quickly said, “Boss, I know him well, he would never do something like that! I don’t know exactly what happened, but…”

Her voice trailed off, growing weaker.

That’s right, she didn’t even know what had happened herself, so how could she vouch for him?

And besides, Gu Wanshi had only just hired her, why would she trust her judgment on this?

She’d spoken too rashly.

Gu Wanshi tapped her index finger on the table a few times, then said, “How about this, go contact him. If he’s willing, I’ll meet with him myself and decide from there. But he’s your ex-boyfriend, are you sure you’re up for this?”

“Of course I am!” Feng Kefei said immediately. “This is my job, I won’t let personal matters get in the way of my work.”

Noticing her face flush slightly, Gu Wanshi understood at once.

It seemed Feng Kefei still had unresolved feelings for Lin Yifan, this happened to give her a convenient excuse to reach out to her ex.

Whether it worked out or not, it counted as a good deed on her part either way.

The reason she wanted to meet Lin Yifan was so the system could evaluate his character.

If Lin Yifan’s character passed the system’s standard, it would mean he really had been wrongly accused before.

Given his ability, he’d be the perfect fit as coach for the Far Journey team.

Once everyone else had left, only Gu Wanshi and Gu Wanhe remained, with Zhao Tong tactfully sitting at a nearby table to give the two of them privacy.

“I need to head back to the office soon,” Gu Wanhe said. “The whole company’s in chaos today.”

Gu Wanshi smiled and asked, “Is it because of the failed partnership with Mu Corporation’s subsidiary?”

“How did you know?” Gu Wanhe asked, surprised.

Gu Wanshi gave her a brief rundown of what had happened the night before.

Gu Wanhe immediately understood. “That explains it. The partnership with Mu Corporation was basically a done deal, how did it suddenly fall through? The company’s losses this time will be huge.”

After a pause, she added, “To be honest, Gu Corporation’s already on a downward slide these days, just barely holding on.”

“But Gu Corporation’s been around for so many years, it still has a solid foundation,” Gu Wanshi’s eyes grew serious. “What I want to do won’t be easy.”

An established company like this wasn’t something she could just acquire with money alone.

“There’s no rushing something like this,” Gu Wanhe said with a smile. “Don’t worry, whatever I can help with, I’ll do my best, it’s for my own sake too.”

Her father and Gu Lianghui were both her grandfather’s biological sons, and she’d never felt her own abilities were beneath Gu Zihao’s, so why should she be stuck as a mid-level executive at the company?

Back then, her family’s shares in the company had actually been quite substantial, but Gu Lianghui had schemed his way into seizing much of it… now, it was about time to take it back.

She couldn’t manage it on her own. But now, she had Gu Wanshi.

She believed that once Gu Wanshi held real power, she’d make sure everything owed to her was returned in full.

So she was willing to work for Gu Wanshi.

“All right, I should get going,” Gu Wanhe stood up.

“Wait a moment, cousin.”

Gu Wanshi picked up a bag beside her and handed it to Gu Wanhe. “Thanks for helping me find an assistant. This is my thanks.”

Gu Wanhe looked and saw it was a limited-edition bag.

She didn’t hold back, accepting it happily.

Gu Wanshi never asked her for help without repaying her, helping someone like her was exactly what Gu Wanhe wanted!

The moment Gu Wanhe left, Gu Wanshi heard the system’s voice again.

“Ding! Current main quest activated: spend twenty million within two hours to earn a rebate and two lottery draws.”

Gu Wanshi immediately paid the bill and left the coffee shop with Zhao Tong, searching her phone as they walked for any nearby stores where she could spend money.

Not far away was a Roger Dubuis boutique, and Gu Wanshi decided on the spot, heading over with Zhao Tong.

Although many of the luxury brands in the novel she’d transmigrated into were ones she’d never seen in her past life, some luxury brands existed in both worlds, slightly different, perhaps, but not too far off.

Roger Dubuis was one of them. In her past life, she’d owned a watch from this brand herself, and she remembered it had cost over three million.

Gu Wanshi had originally planned to buy herself a few more watches, but the moment she stepped into the store, her gaze suddenly landed on a men’s watch.

For some reason, the moment she saw this men’s watch, Mu Zecheng’s figure suddenly came to mind.

This watch would suit that man perfectly!

Gu Wanshi silently asked the system, “System, does Mu Zecheng, the one I met yesterday, meet your standard for appearance and character?”

“He does. If the host spends money on him, it can count toward the quest.”

Gu Wanshi immediately said to the store clerk, “I’d like to take a look at this watch.”

The clerk, wearing white gloves, carefully took out the watch and said with a smile, “Madam, you have excellent taste, this watch just arrived at our store this morning, and there’s only this one piece.”

“I’ll take it. How much?”

“Ten million,” the clerk said carefully. “Are you sure?”

Ten million wasn’t a small sum, after all, and this was the first time she’d seen someone decide so quickly.

“Yes, please wrap it up for me. Also, I’d like to buy a women’s watch too, could you show me some options?”

The clerk’s face lit up immediately, eagerly introducing women’s watches to Gu Wanshi.

“How about this one? It also just arrived this morning, and there’s only this one piece! The price is the same as the men’s watch, ten million, since these two are part of the same collection.”

“Sure, wrap this one up too, I’ll pay by card.”

Two watches, exactly twenty million.

The quest was completed this easily, and Gu Wanshi felt quite pleased with herself.

As for the men’s watch, she planned to give it to Mu Zecheng.

After all, he’d given her a tea house that turned several hundred million in profit every year, just like that!

Giving him a ten-million watch back in return seemed like nothing much, and conveniently, it let her finish the quest quickly too.
