“Tacky or not doesn’t matter,” Gu Wanshi said flatly. “As long as I’m not the mistress.”
The woman’s face instantly went pale, her features twisting with anger, and she screeched, “Who are you calling a mistress!”
“Look who’s triggered,” Gu Wanshi said with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
The sales staff in the store immediately understood what Gu Wanshi meant, but they all held back and didn’t let themselves look at the woman with strange expressions.
After all, this woman was carrying a name-brand bag, and the man beside her also looked wealthy, clearly a potential customer.
Several of the sales staff immediately walked over to greet them.
“Sir, madam, what style of clothing were you looking for?”
Duan Huan pulled his gaze back from Gu Wanshi, feeling somewhat uneasy.
In the past, Gu Wanshi’s eyes had always been filled with affection when she looked at him, even after he’d said especially harsh, cruel things to her, she’d still gazed at him with lingering attachment.
But now, she looked at him like a stranger.
There wasn’t even hatred in it, as if he were just some passerby…
“She’s buying,” Duan Huan said, pointing at the woman beside him.
Just then, the new sales employee, holding a dress, walked up to Gu Wanshi joyfully.
“Madam, this dress matches your requirements exactly, and it looks like it would suit you very well! Would you like to try it on?”
“No need to try it, just wrap it up for me directly—”
Before Gu Wanshi finished speaking, the woman said sharply, “I want that dress! Wrap it up for me right now!”
“Ah?” The new sales employee looked troubled. “But, but this dress is a limited edition, and this one is the sample for trying on, there’s only one brand-new one left…”
“I’m buying it!” the woman said immediately. “Look at how shabby she looks, do you think she can afford it?”
“Exactly,” another sales employee chimed in. “She’s obviously just here to wander around aimlessly. This gentleman and this lady are our real customers!”
Gu Wanshi found this all quite ridiculous.
Was a single dress really worth fighting over?
How childish could you get?
Actually, she hadn’t even gotten a clear look at the dress, she’d only wanted to buy one quickly to finish the quest.
She had only half an hour left, and truly no time to argue.
The woman pulled at Duan Huan’s arm, acting coquettish. “Darling, buy it for me. Hurry and pay, won’t you?”
Duan Huan glanced at Gu Wanshi and nodded. “Fine.”
If he bought a dress for another woman right in front of Gu Wanshi, surely it would upset her, wouldn’t it?
One of the sales employees reacted extremely quickly and immediately said, “Sir, please come to the counter to check out.”
The other sales staff watched her with anger and envy.
She’d beaten them to it, this sale’s commission was hers now!
According to the rules of their store, a two-hundred-thousand dress would earn a ten-thousand commission!
Duan Huan walked up to the counter, taking out his phone as he asked, “How much?”
“Two hundred thousand,” the sales employee said with a beaming smile.
Duan Huan’s hand froze instantly.
Two hundred thousand!
This woman really had the nerve, asking for a two-hundred-thousand dress just like that!
Actually, two hundred thousand wasn’t a huge sum to him.
But this woman was just one of his mistresses, and he’d only just spent one hundred thousand buying her a luxury bag, and now she wanted a two-hundred-thousand dress too?
“Sir?” Seeing him stop moving, the sales employee looked at him in confusion.
The woman beside him grew a little anxious. “Darling, what’s wrong? Hurry and pay!”
“Never mind, I won’t buy it,” Duan Huan said, his face darkening as he put his phone away.
No matter what, he couldn’t spend two hundred thousand buying a dress for a mistress! If his father found out, wouldn’t he beat him to death?
“Wh-what?” The woman looked at him in disbelief.
The sales employee’s face darkened as well.
What were these two putting on airs for if they weren’t even going to buy anything? What a waste of time!
Hearing this, Gu Wanshi walked over and said, “Not buying it, then? If you’re not buying it, step aside, I’ll check out.”
She had already picked out another dress just now, one in a color and style she liked, slightly more expensive, two hundred and fifty thousand.
But she didn’t care. For her right now, the more expensive the better.
The new sales employee, hands trembling, helped wrap up the dress for her, then asked, “Madam, how would you like to pay?”
“Card,” Gu Wanshi said, taking out her bank card.
“I don’t believe you can afford it!” the woman said, her face full of spite. “I’ll just wait and watch you make a fool of yourself…”
“Ding, payment of two hundred and fifty thousand successfully processed.”
The cold mechanical voice rang out, like a resounding slap across the woman’s face, and across Duan Huan’s face too!
Both of their faces turned ashen!
As for the sales staff, they were overcome with regret!
What had they just done?
This woman they’d looked down on turned out to be the real big spender, and they’d mistaken a fish’s eye for a pearl!
The commission of over ten thousand now belonged to the new sales employee.
The other sales staff could no longer hold back, glaring at Duan Huan and the woman beside him with anger and contempt.
“You… you…” The woman’s mouth hung open, staring at Gu Wanshi in shock, looking rather ridiculous. “How is that possible?”
Gu Wanshi ignored her completely and instead said to the new sales employee, “I’d like to pick out a few more pieces. Go ahead and recommend some to me.”
“Of course.” The new sales employee nodded hurriedly.
The other sales employees spoke up one after another.
“Madam, why don’t you let me make the recommendations instead?”
“Let me do it! She’s just a new hire, she surely can’t recommend things properly for you.”
The new sales employee grew anxious but didn’t dare say anything.
Gu Wanshi sneered coldly and said, “No need. I was just here to browse around anyway.”
Hearing this, the other sales employees’ faces flushed red at once.
“It’s all because of that person who couldn’t afford it but insisted on putting on airs!” one of the sales employees said directly, right in front of Duan Huan and the woman. “Wasting our time!”
“Exactly… and a mistress on top of it, ugh!”
The woman beside Duan Huan wished she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. She glared bitterly at Duan Huan, then turned and slunk away in embarrassment.
Duan Huan’s face was clearly thicker-skinned, he didn’t leave right away, but instead watched Gu Wanshi, who was still picking out clothes in the store.
Gu Wanshi had actually been able to pull out two hundred and fifty thousand for clothes just like that, it seemed her situation within the Gu family wasn’t so bad after all?
That’s right, after all, she was the real daughter of the Gu family. Given time, the Gu family would surely accept her.
And compared to Gu Wanning, she had the advantage of blood ties… thinking about it this way, breaking up with her back then to pursue Gu Wanning had been too hasty of him!
Duan Huan was filled with regret.
No, he had to win Gu Wanshi back.
Gu Wanshi was in a very good mood right now, she had just completed the two-hundred-thousand side quest and received a twentyfold rebate, a full four million.
But she still had the ten-million main quest to complete.
Money spent on the side quest couldn’t count toward the main quest, meaning that of the two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand dress she’d just bought, only fifty thousand counted toward the main quest.
But with twenty-four hours to work with, Gu Wanshi wasn’t in much of a hurry.
She’d browse the mall a bit first, then go straight out and buy herself a house!
