Enri stood there, in her best clothes, just waiting for Lupis. Besides her, stood Nfirea and Nemu. The two of them were dressed in their best as well. She fidgeted there for a good long while. The sun was at its apex.

There was nothing that should have made her more nervous than this right now. Maybe if Ninya was here, instead of praying at the temple, her voice would have made her even more nervous. Instead, Nfirea tried and failed to calm her down.

He stood off to her side, placing a hand on her back and rubbing it. While this did indeed fail to calm her down fully. It did endear him to her. In fact, it made her more nervous, her mind now swimming with dirty images of the two of them.

She simply looked at him all the while as he tried and failed to calm her down. They waited there for but a couple of minutes. Then, a hole opened up in the fabric of space in front of them.

Out of this hole came two people. The first was Lupisregina Beta. The second was a woman that the two of them didn’t recognize. She was taller than Lupis by a good bit, had her hair in a bun, and wore gauntlets on her arms.

Enri didn’t really know who this was. Maybe it was one of the six other sisters of Lupis? Yes, that was probably it.

“Hey little vir- ow!” Lupis was about to say, but got interrupted by the other woman.

The other woman had slapped the back of Lupis’s head with an open palm. This, after seeing how loose Lupis was, shocked the three of them. The woman then looked to them, and spoke.

“I am sorry for the actions of my younger sister. I am Yuri Alpha. You already know my sister, Lupisregina Beta. We are here to bring you to the tomb,” she said.

She then placed a placed a hand to the back of Lupis’s back and bowed. This forced Lupis to bow as well. Her grumbles could still be heard though. The other woman, Yuri, just looked at her with a small frown.

They then raised themselves from their position and stepped back into the gate spell. Enri, Nfirea, and Nemu all looked at each other. They all took a collective breath and stepped through the portal.

They appeared in an office space of sorts. The portal closed behind them, and they looked around and made sure that they were in the right space. The portal had set them out next to a table of some kind. It was made from a wood that was a deeper color and richer hue than they had ever seen.

The ceiling was tall, and there was a chandelier in the middle of it. There was a desk at the far end of the room, where it looked like some papers were stacked. No one sat in the chair behind it, though.

The walls were rather far out form them, with pillars reaching the ceiling. The walls, ceiling, and even floor screamed and oozed opulence. It made Enri shiver slightly at the power of it all. She truly felt like she was in a place worthy of the gods.

Next to the table, with the poise of someone who was made to do servant work, and function as the best maid possible, stood the two of them. Lupis stood there, acting like the maid that she was supposed to and setting up tea and small cakes.

Yuri stood there as well, her hands getting to work with the plates and such. The three of them simply looked at what was in front of them. They were somewhat shaken by the hospitality of the maids.

“Please sit down, Lady Momonga is a bit busy right now, getting changed. Please drink and eat all that you want. We will bring you to the guild hall soon,” Yuri said, as the two maids then left.

Enri sat down on one of the love seats on the side of the table. There, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Why she had been invited was obvious. Though, it didn’t make her any less nervous. She was meeting her savior after a very long time of not seeing her.

She placed her face in her hands, and screamed into her palms. Nemu and Nfirea, sitting opposite her, looked at her with a bit of trepidation. Yet, just as Nfirea was about to speak up, Enri looked up.

Her face was a bit red, yet other than that, the only thing to mar her face was the scowl that played on her lips. She grabbed some of the sugar cubes near the teacups with steam coming from them, and dropped them into the cup set for her. she kept doing so until some of the tea fell out of the cup.

After that, she then proceeded to drink a rather large gulp of the still-hot tea. Nfirea tried to get her to stop. His voice was drowned out by the very warm sensation of tea burning the top of her tongue.

“Ha, so sweet,” she mumbled as she set the cup back down, Nemu taking a sip as she did so.

“Yeah, putting like half of the sugar into your tea will do that,” he mentioned, nodding his head.

“What do you think we’ll be having? They haven’t said yet,” Nemu pointed out, taking another sip as Enri spoke.

“I don’t know, but they said menu. Maybe we’ll be able to choose our own selection from the menu? Or maybe it’s just what we’ll eat? I wonder if she wants to do anything else with us today, Lady Momonga, that is,” Enri responded, and placed a finger to her chin as she grabbed a cookie from the plate on the side.

They sat in a nice silence for a minute or two. It was soon after that, that Yuri and Lupis came back. The three of them looked up as the door to the guild hall opened up near them.

“Lady Momonga will see you now,” Yuri said as she walked over and stood next to where Nfirea sat, making sure that he stood fine.

Lupis did the same for Enri, her smile surprisingly serene as she looked at Enri. It was almost like she was where she belonged, doing the work of one of the gods. Enri closed her eyes, and slapped her cheeks to get herself warmed up. Yet, as she stood, Nemu and Nfirea just looked at her strangely.

…

As soon as the three of them walked into the room itself, they were all struck with awe. Nemu, the child of the trio, was struck the least by it. She giggled when she saw all the banners, and rushed forward. She parted in between the pillars holding up the ceiling, and rushed to stand before Momonga as she sat on the Throne of Kings.

The whole time, Enri and Nfirea were calling her to stop. They tried and failed to do so. She stopped in front of Momonga, and clutched at her legs. The older woman looked down at the girl.

“This place is so cool!” chanted out Nemu, “you must have had so much fun with the other gods, with your friends!” she yelped out.

Enri ran forward. She dearly hoped that Lady Momonga wasn’t insulted by Nemu’s manners. After all, she was but a child in a new and fantastical place. Of course she would do such a thing. Yet her mind froze when Momonga picked her sister up, and placed her in her lap.

“Little Nemu, you have no idea on how much fun we had!” she herself stated with the largest grin her atrophied face could make, “then whole of the tomb was made with our uttermost joy! Would you and your family like to see it?” she asked.

As Enri stopped herself in front of the throne, she heard these last words spoken. Her heart now slammed in her chest as she listened to them. What was she supposed to think? What was she supposed to say to that? What did that even entail?

So caught up in her own mind, she barely even noticed that Nfirea was trying to get her attention. She jumped a little when she felt his hands touch her arms. She looked at him with a forced smile on her face. He nodded his head at this, with his own forced smile.

They then turned to look at Nemu in unison. she was busy smiling and laughing with the actual Goddess of Death! It was absurd. It was positively, absolutely, absurd. Then, death turned to face Enri.

“Would you three like to see the rest of the ninth floor after lunch?” she asked, and Enri could only nod her head yes.
