It hurts. It hurts so much!

This tribulation lightning was indeed terrifying.

Nan Xing slowly opened her eyes and saw shattered rocks scattered all around her. Not far away stood what appeared to be an ancient altar, and faint specks of light shimmered in a depression beneath it.Full novel: The Grandmaster Uncle Wants Peace in the Apocalypse but Ends Up Carrying the Heavenly Dao — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A delighted smile slowly appeared at the corners of her lips, and she secretly congratulated herself on her good fortune.

She had originally been the most doted-on disciple of the Nanjí Sect in the cultivation world. Unfortunately, the elders and fellow disciples of her sect had been far too outstanding, one after another ascending to the Divine Realm.

By the time only she remained in the sect, she had no choice but to change her formerly lazy ways and work hard, all so that she could ascend to the Divine Realm and continue clinging to powerful people while enjoying an easy life.

Who would have thought that as her cultivation improved, tribulation lightning would come down as well?

Perhaps even the Heavenly Dao could no longer stand watching her laze around all day, so the tribulation lightning it sent down was especially fierce.

Fortunately, she was clever. Before the final bolt of tribulation lightning descended, she followed the teleportation array set up by the Grandmaster Uncle and came to another world.

She struggled to get up, silently circulated her cultivation technique, and sat in meditation to regulate her breathing. She discovered that the spiritual sea within her body was already completely drained, without even a trace of spiritual energy remaining.

She cursed inwardly. Her luck really had been terrible lately. Now she had to absorb spiritual energy all over again to restore her strength.

Not long after, she suddenly opened her eyes. Her furious roar echoed repeatedly through the cave.

“Grandmaster Uncle, you’ve completely screwed your grand-disciple over! Why is the spiritual energy in this world so thin?”

Without spiritual energy, how was she supposed to restore her strength? How was she supposed to ascend to the Divine Realm?

No. She could not give up. The wonderful life waiting for her in the Divine Realm was still ahead of her.

She had to ascend to the Divine Realm.

“Right! I still have my storage pouch!”

Nan Xing happily opened her storage pouch, only to discover that less than one-millionth of the magical treasures and spirit stones inside remained. Her entire body instantly stiffened in place. The storage pouch slipped from her hand and fell to the ground, but she did not even notice.

How could this have happened?

Before undergoing the tribulation, she had clearly emptied the entire Nanjí Sect.

The spirit stones she had left were nowhere near enough to support her until she ascended to the Divine Realm.

Suddenly, a childish voice sounded in her mind.

“You help me undergo the tribulation, and I’ll help you ascend to the Divine Realm!”

“Who?”

Nan Xing quickly picked up the storage pouch, summoned her life-bound sword Fengyi, and cautiously scanned her surroundings. She discovered that there was no one else in the cave.

What a perfect way to twist the knife in her heart.

Couldn’t it see that she had already failed her tribulation? And yet it still wanted her to help with one.

“I am the Heavenly Dao of this world. I am currently in the process of upgrading the plane. I’m afraid I won’t succeed, so I want you to help me upgrade it. In exchange, I’ll help you ascend to the Divine Realm!”

The childish voice instantly echoed in her mind again.

Nan Xing hurriedly tightened her grip on Fengyi. A sharp glint flashed in her eyes as she asked sternly, “How do you prove that you are the Heavenly Dao? And how do you prove that you can help me?”

“How do you want me to prove it?”

The hesitant childish voice sounded in her mind once again.

“Give me a hundred spirit stones first!”

Suddenly, a black hole appeared before her eyes and dropped a hundred low-grade spirit stones onto the ground, instantly forming a small pile. Her eyes immediately lit up, and she believed it a little more.

She quickly put them into her storage pouch, took out one, held it in her hand, and circulated her cultivation technique. A trace of spiritual energy flowed into the dry spiritual sea within her body.

“Now you believe me, right?”

“Hahaha, deal!”

Divine Realm, here I come!

Nan Xing happily looked at the spirit stone in her hand, which was already devoid of spiritual energy. She quickly took out two more spirit stones and eagerly began absorbing their spiritual energy.

She soon finished absorbing all one hundred spirit stones. Reluctantly, she stopped circulating her cultivation technique. Her bright eyes rolled around mischievously.

“Heavenly Dao, give me some more spirit stones. I’ll need to recover more of my strength so I can help you better!”

“That’s all I have for now!” The childish voice sounded in her mind again.

“All right!” Her weak, listless voice was filled with regret. She lazily sat down on the ground. “Tell me, how do you want me to help you?”

“You help me…”

“Wait!” Nan Xing interrupted the Heavenly Dao, picked up the Nanjí Sect token at her waist that was continuously flashing red, and said, “I need to go somewhere first!”

With that, she flew away on her sword.

The token flashing red meant that a disciple of the Nanjí Sect was calling for help.

It should be an outer disciple the Grandmaster Uncle had taken in while traveling through this world.

The first rule of the Nanjí Sect was simple: No one was allowed to bully a disciple of the Nanjí Sect.

Following the token’s guidance, Nan Xing arrived at her destination on her sword about twenty minutes later.

Beneath the Nanjí Sect token, five men dressed in camouflage uniforms were trapped inside a transparent energy barrier. Outside it were densely packed figures covered in blood and mud, their bodies rotting as they continuously slammed against the barrier.

Wen Ye lowered his eyes and glanced at Shen Huaixu, who was unconscious in the middle of the group. He frowned and looked ahead.

“Xiao Tang, how long can this energy barrier hold?”

Nan Tang stared intently ahead, not daring to relax for even a moment.

“I don’t know either!”

It turned out his father had been telling the truth.

Ever since he was little, his father had told him that they were disciples of the Nanjí Sect and that the Nanjí Sect was a cultivation sect.

When he was young, he had believed it. He had even fantasized about becoming an immortal, so he often ran to the cave that his family had guarded for generations.

But no matter what he did in front of the altar, no immortal ever appeared.

After growing up, he stopped believing it.

His father had personally given him the token when he joined the army and had even given him one specific instruction.

“Keep it safe. It will save your life.”

Wen Ye was even more vigilant. He tightened his grip on his gun and assumed an attacking stance, his eyes firmly fixed ahead.

“Everyone, stay alert. We can’t let our guard down for even a moment!”

Hearing this, the three people with Nan Tang all tightened their grips on their guns and focused intently on guarding the area ahead.

Once the energy barrier shattered, several hundred zombies would be waiting for them.

But they had already nearly exhausted the supernatural abilities in their bodies while fighting the zombies earlier.

If the energy barrier had not suddenly appeared, they would have already died at the mouths of the zombies.

The constant howls of the zombies rang in their ears. The supernatural ability within Wen Ye was ready to erupt at any moment, prepared to fight back the instant the energy barrier shattered.

Suddenly, a flash of white light appeared before his eyes, and the sounds around him instantly vanished.

The heads of the zombies outside the energy barrier were severed in an instant. Their bodies collapsed heavily to the ground as though they had suddenly lost their support.

He did not dare relax in the slightest. His scalp prickled with unease.

The next second, the energy barrier became covered in crisscrossing cracks like shattered glass. The token that had fallen to the ground suddenly flew forward.

A fair hand caught the token tightly. A woman dressed in a sky-blue hanfu descended from the sky with a sword in hand, her bright eyes filled with coldness.

“Stay alert!” Wen Ye gave the order. Nan Tang and the other three immediately stood beside him in a defensive formation, hiding Shen Huaixu behind them.

Their eyes remained fixed on the woman before them. She was stunningly beautiful and seemed utterly otherworldly, without a trace of dust on her clothes. Their hearts tightened with fear.

In the apocalypse, there were three kinds of people one should never provoke lightly: solitary old people, children, and women.

Not to mention a woman with breathtaking beauty and spotless clothes.

Nan Xing raised her hand and gave it a gentle wave. Fengyi instantly split into five swords, each pointing at one of their eyes. Even the unconscious Shen Huaixu did not escape.

“Who among you is the owner of this token?”

Hearing her icy voice, Nan Tang’s heart suddenly jumped. His body stiffened instantly.

They had encountered someone trying to kill them and seize their possessions, and she was specifically targeting him.

Ever since the zombies had appeared, laws had become useless scraps of paper. The ugliness of human nature had been completely exposed, and killing others to seize their possessions and strengthen their supernatural abilities had become an extremely common occurrence.

“Me!” Nan Tang’s voice carried a determination to face death, yet it was also filled with hope. “Can you let my comrades go?”

“Nan Tang!”

“Nan Tang!”

Two anxious voices rang out. Nan Xing raised an eyebrow. The surname was Nan?

She gently clenched her hand in the air, and Nan Tang’s body quickly flew toward her.

The two men who had just spoken instinctively moved, but as Nan Xing’s sharp gaze pressed down, Fengyi’s blade shifted slightly. The chilling sword aura instantly made their scalps tingle.

“Don’t move!” Wen Ye was covered in cold sweat. He stared intently at the token hanging from Nan Xing’s waist and shouted in a deep voice.

Fengyi moved slightly. Nan Tang felt a sharp pain in his finger. He raised his hand and saw a drop of blood slowly rise from his middle finger and float into the token in the woman’s hand.

The token instantly emitted a sky-blue light, its color as vivid as the woman’s clothes.

A flash of delight appeared in Nan Xing’s eyes. She tossed the token back into Nan Tang’s arms and looked at him with great interest.

“Come on, call me Grandmaster Uncle!”
