“Hey, hey, hey! Cousin, don’t be reckless! That’s an entire herd of wild boars!” Shen Ziqian called out in a hushed voice, afraid of startling the animals.

Light on her feet, Shen Shuli quickly slipped behind the last wild boar. Without hesitation, she plunged the sharp short blade in her hand straight into its heart.

The wild boar let out a shrill squeal before crashing to the ground.Full novel: The Great Famine Escape: My Entire Family Transmigrated and Somehow I Became Empress! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The other five wild boars immediately noticed.

Seeing one of their own killed by a human, they instantly turned and charged at Shen Shuli, completely losing interest in the man hiding in the tree.

Only then did Shen Yuebai notice that a petite young woman had just ambushed and killed one of the wild boars.

“Miss, get out of here! They’re after you now!” Shen Yuebai shouted a warning.

“I’ll draw them away. Find a chance to escape!” Shen Shuli shouted back.

If this body weren’t so physically weak, she could have dealt with the four remaining wild boars on her own.

Seeing the situation, Shen Yuebai hurriedly called out, “Be careful!”

With that, he immediately slid down the tree trunk.

He only had two arrows left. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been cornered by the herd in the first place.

Now that the wild boars had been lured away by the young woman, he immediately looked for the best position from which to shoot.

From the tree in the distance, Shen Ziqian hadn’t expected his new cousin to be so skilled.

She had killed a wild boar cleanly in a single exchange.

And now, even with four wild boars chasing her, she wasn’t at a disadvantage in the slightest.

Seeing his second uncle preparing to go help her, he quickly followed.

Shen Shuli spotted a massive boulder ahead and immediately climbed toward it, using the protrusions in the rock as footholds.

The lead wild boar charged straight into the boulder.

The impact made the boulder, which weighed more than two tons, tremble slightly.

The force behind the collision was astonishing.

The wild boar knocked itself unconscious.

The remaining four wild boars were forced to slow down. They began violently slamming their bodies against the boulder, determined to knock the human down from above, completely ignoring their unconscious companion lying beneath their feet.

The unconscious wild boar was trampled to death by the others.

Shen Shuli paid it no attention.

She sprang upward and grabbed a branch.

The branch was too thin to support her weight and was about to snap, so she immediately used the momentum to swing herself toward the tree trunk and climb.

Seeing this, Shen Yuebai immediately fired an arrow at the neck of the wild boar at the rear.

The distance was too great, and the arrow lacked enough force to kill it. However, it still knocked the wild boar to the ground, temporarily rendering it unable to fight.

He hurried over, intending to finish it off, when he heard a familiar voice.

“Second Uncle!”

Shen Ziqian had caught up and immediately shouted a warning.

“Watch out! There’s a wild boar charging straight at you!”

When Shen Yuebai realized it was his eldest nephew, his scalp went numb.

“Ziqian, what are you doing here?! Run!”

Shen Yuebai sprinted while shouting at him, nearly sucking cold air into his lungs. Every organ inside him seemed to ache from the effort.

Seeing the wild boar almost catch up with his second uncle, Shen Ziqian immediately picked up a rock roughly the size of a human head and hurled it at the beast.

The rock barely injured the wild boar, but it bought them a precious moment.

The two quickly hid and waited for an opportunity.

Seeing that no one could see what she was doing, Shen Shuli immediately pulled a suppressed pistol from her spatial storage.

She fired two shots at the two nearest wild boars.

Both shots struck them directly in the head.

Shen Yuebai and Shen Ziqian had just caught up when they saw the two wild boars in front suddenly collapse for no apparent reason.

Both men were stunned.

They had no idea how she had done it.

But there was no time to stand around in shock.

Shen Yuebai seized his opportunity and fired his final arrow with all his strength.

This time, it was a clean kill.

The arrow struck one of the wild boars and killed it instantly.

Only then did Shen Yuebai finally breathe a sigh of relief.

At least he’d managed to help a little.

The last remaining wild boar seemed completely bewildered.

It had no idea how its companions had disappeared in the blink of an eye, leaving it all alone.

Fear took over, and it decided to flee.

Without hesitation, it turned around and ran in the opposite direction.

Shen Shuli immediately chased after it.

Shen Ziqian followed close behind.

There was only one wild boar left. How could they possibly let it get away?

Shen Yuebai pulled the final arrow from one of the dead wild boars and fired it at the fleeing animal.

The arrow struck its hindquarters.

The wild boar staggered but didn’t fall. It continued running.

Shen Shuli hurled the short blade in her hand with all her strength.

The blade sank into the wild boar’s other hind leg.

The animal finally lost its balance and crashed to the ground.

The immediate danger was over.

Shen Shuli breathed a sigh of relief, but her body had begun to tremble slightly.

She was exhausted.

She quickly took a discreet sip of spiritual spring water, and some of her strength returned.

While the other two went after the last wild boar, Shen Shuli hurried back to the two wild boars she had shot.

She dug the bullets out of their skulls and used her dagger to disguise the wounds.

Then she waited at the scene.

It wasn’t long before the uncle and nephew returned.

Seeing that the unfamiliar young woman was still there, Shen Yuebai hurried over to thank her.

“Miss, thank you so much. If you hadn’t stepped in to save me, I probably wouldn’t have made it out of here alive.”

Shen Shuli glanced at Shen Ziqian.

He immediately understood and hurried to explain.

“Second Uncle, this is Little Aunt’s daughter. She’s your niece, Su Shuli.”

Neither the Su family nor the Shen family knew that Shen Shuli intended to take her mother’s surname.

Her parents hadn’t mentioned it to either family yet.

So everyone naturally assumed that the newly returned girl was surnamed Su.

Shen Shuli didn’t bother correcting them.

There was no rush. They could explain everything after her father finished registering her household information.

Shen Yuebai was overwhelmed with gratitude toward the young woman before him.

When he learned that his lifesaver was actually his younger sister’s daughter, his surprise was even greater.

“What? She’s the daughter my little sister was switched with at birth?”

Shen Yuebai looked at Shen Shuli, his heart immediately aching for her.

“But what happened to her face?”

Shen Ziqian didn’t know much about the situation either.

Shen Shuli smiled and quickly changed the subject.

“Hehe, Second Uncle, now isn’t the time to talk about that. We need to get down the mountain quickly. There’s too much blood here, and the smell will attract other wild animals.”

The uncle and nephew understood immediately.

“I’ve hunted quite a bit over the past two days.”

Shen Yuebai looked troubled.

“There are more than a dozen wild rabbits and pheasants, a muntjac, and these two wild boars. Then the whole herd came after me.”

“How are we supposed to carry all this down the mountain?”

Only then did Shen Shuli notice the trace of blood at the corner of her second uncle’s mouth.

His face was pale.

He must have suffered internal injuries.

She hadn’t expected him to be injured and still fight so desperately to help them.

He seemed to be a genuinely kind-hearted man.

Shen Shuli took a small canteen from her waist.

Inside was 300 milliliters of spiritual spring water, which she had prepared specifically for her uncle.

That amount wouldn’t be enough to immediately heal his internal injuries, but it could gradually repair the damage without arousing suspicion.

“Second Uncle, I brought some medicine for injuries. Take two pills for now. Once we get home, you should see a doctor and get properly treated.”

Shen Shuli took out two red rainbow candies and handed them to Shen Yuebai, telling him to swallow them with the spiritual spring water.

The medicine was already in front of him, so Shen Yuebai didn’t feel right refusing.

He swallowed them immediately.

“Huh? These pills are actually sweet.”

He could feel a warm current spreading through his body.

The pain in his internal organs eased somewhat, and a little color returned to his pale face.

He immediately realized how precious these two bright red pills must be.

His gratitude toward his niece deepened even further.

He never would have imagined that this niece, whom he had met for the very first time, would be willing to give him such precious medicine to save his life.

From this moment on, he was willing to give his life for her.
