Seeing this, Yan Xia’s fingers trembled slightly as she pinched the card: “Damn, there’s actually something like this polluting the card pool?!”

Meanwhile, the comment section was filled with laughter and merriment, brimming with a cheerful atmosphere.

Wanzi-chan: I never expected that a melodramatic story from a few years ago would turn out to be surprisingly fun with a System added. Author, you really are a talent!

Shi Ni Feng Le: Are you sure this is melodrama? This is straight-up crack fiction! Xiaxia, what kind of luck do you have!!

Gary: hhhhhh Xia Bao, don’t be scared. I pulled an SSR with a single draw yesterday—I’m passing my luck on to you!

【Announcement: Reader “aka Liu Zai” has sent Landmines x10! Positive Points +500!】

aka Liu Zai: Draw. Keep drawing until you get an SSR!

Buyi: …Boss, that’s reckless.

□□39999: Boss is so generous!

Doufu Laolao: Boss is so generous!

…

“Five hundred??”

Yan Xia was shocked to receive this generous gift: “To think that even after this author abandoned the story years ago, there are still rich fans who’ve stuck by it?!”

System: “Host, the way you put that makes it sound like a wife faithfully staying by her husband’s side for years while he lies paralyzed in a vegetative state.”

Yan Xia: “Honestly, if an author of a story I was following gave up and ran off, I’d rather just treat them like a vegetable.”

System: …

It coughed lightly a few times and changed the subject: “Host, you currently have a total of 1,960 Positive Points. Would you like to continue drawing cards?”

“Since this generous boss has asked for a ten-pull, how could I possibly refuse?” Yan Xia took a deep breath. “Wait, before I draw, let me do some preparation first.”

The System was puzzled: What could she possibly need to prepare?

Yan Xia sneakily scurried back to her room, locked the door, picked up her phone, and opened a music app.

Festive, surging song immediately poured through her earphones, carrying the most sincere and heartfelt wishes: “Good luck comes, wishing you good luck! Good luck brings joy and love~”

“Alright, that’ll do.” This was her essential lucky song for card draws!

Yan Xia pressed her palms together, closed her eyes, and murmured an incantation. Then she opened her eyes, her gaze burning bright.

She declared with force and conviction: “Ten-pull—and make it skip the draw animation!”

System: …

A meteor shower streaked across the sky, and colorful light condensed into ten cards with identical patterns. Yan Xia’s fingers trembled as, heart pounding, she flipped them over one by one.

One of the cards burst forth with a dazzling, rainbow-colored light show that nearly blinded Yan Xia.

“Ding-dong! Congratulations, Host, on drawing the SSR Item Card 【Rewind】!”

Yan Xia: Oh-ho.

The System continued without pause: “Ding-dong! Congratulations, Host, on drawing the SR Item Card 【X-ray Vision】!”

“Ding-dong! Congratulations, Host, on drawing the R Item Card 【Teleportation】!”

“…”

Once the draws were finished, Yan Xia carefully counted them. Among the ten cards, there was one SSR, one SR, and three R Cards—the rest were all “thanks for your patronage.”

She asked: “What’s the SSR drop rate for this card pool?”

The System answered: “1.6%. But don’t worry, Host—our card pool has a Pity System. Every 90 draws guarantees one SSR Item Card.”

Yan Xia nodded and looked at the golden SSR card: “What does this Rewind do? How do I use it?”

The System perked up immediately, introducing it with great enthusiasm: “Congratulations, Host! The [Rewind] Item is extremely rare and incredibly useful—it can take you back to any previous chapter at any time, with no side effects to worry about whatsoever.”

Yan Xia was taken aback. “So it can send me back to the past?”

“That’s right,” the System said. “You can try it right now, Host. First, place your hand on the card.”

Yan Xia did as instructed. The moment her fingers touched the golden card, it burst into dazzling white light and vanished, replaced by a brand-new black cassette tape in her hand.

The surface of the tape was blank, with nothing written on it.

“All you have to do, Host, is tell the tape the point in time you want to go back to, and you’ll return to that point in the story,” the System said. “But note: once you rewind, you cannot return to the future.”

“So it’s a one-way ticket that can only be used once. No wonder it’s called Rewind,” Yan Xia mused. “Are there any restrictions on using the tape?”

The System replied: “It must be a time you’ve already experienced, and the location must be one that exists in the book. Also, it can only be used once per day.”

“That many requirements? Fine, let me try it now.” Yan Xia spoke to the blank tape: “Three minutes ago.”

The moment the words left her mouth, a peculiar stinging sensation hit her eyes, and she couldn’t help closing them.

When she opened them again, she was standing at the door of her room, about to push it open. Meanwhile, a line of small black text had appeared on the surface of the tape in her hand, reading “Five minutes ago.”

“Why did my eyes hurt?”

Yan Xia hurried over to the full-length mirror. In the reflection, she was squinting, tears streaming steadily from her reddened eyes. “Didn’t you damn well say there were no side effects?”

The System hastily said, “There really are no side effects. It won’t harm your body at all—it just hurts a tiny bit.”

Yan Xia rubbed her eyes and clicked her tongue. “The other cards don’t hurt to use too, do they?”

The System said guiltily, “Well… that varies from card to card.”

Yan Xia tested the remaining Item cards one by one. Fortunately, none of them caused any pain. However, the R Cards were all single-use items that disappeared once used, while the SR and SSR cards were permanent Items—but with usage restrictions.

For example, [X-ray Vision] could be used unlimited times per day, but each use lasted only thirty minutes, followed by a two-hour cooldown.

Yan Xia: “…Why do I feel like I’ve been ripped off?”

The System said earnestly, “All our Items are designed this way for the sake of balance. Otherwise, if the female lead were too overpowered, there’d be no satisfaction in a step-by-step underdog comeback.”

“Yeah, right.”

Having spent so much time on all this, Yan Xia was already dead tired. Too lazy to argue with it any further, she washed up quickly and climbed back into bed, soon drifting off to sleep.

She was woken by a maid calling from outside the door.

“Didn’t sleep well?”

In the car on the way to school, Shang Wandong looked at Yan Xia beside her, who was nodding off like a pecking chicken, and asked in confusion, “What were you doing after you went back to your room last night?”

Yan Xia yawned and lied lazily, “I studied a bit more.” Then she looked at Shang Wandong, her face practically screaming “praise me,” and asked as if fishing for credit, “Aren’t I so hardworking, Teacher Shang?”

Shang Wandong: “Yes. I hope that hard work isn’t going to waste.”

Yan Xia: “…” Never mind.

“Hah,” Yan Siqiu rolled her eyes from the front seat. “Some people just can’t learn no matter what. Wandong, don’t waste your time teaching her.”

Yan Xia wasn’t annoyed at all, and asked deliberately, “Siqiu, have you found your new tutor yet?”

She’d been eavesdropping last night!

Yan Siqiu was thin-skinned, and her cheeks flushed red with anger as she gritted her teeth. “Who— who needs a tutor! I’m not like you!”

With that, she pushed open the car door and stormed off without looking back.

Yan Xia watched her run off with an expression of doting affection, then followed leisurely behind with Shang Wandong.

“I’ve discovered that teasing my dear little sister is actually pretty fun.”

System: …As long as you’re happy.

Morning reading was English class. Yan Xia found the English textbook she hadn’t taken home yesterday in her desk. High school textbooks were numerous and heavy, so most students only brought home the ones they needed for the day and stacked the rest in their desks.

The moment she opened the book, she noticed that one page had been covered in messy scrawls.

Yan Xia paused, flipping back and forth, and discovered that every single page had been defaced with a glossy black marker—words like “useless,” “trash,” “ugly freak”… along with all sorts of messy “portraits”: bottle-bottom glasses, thick bangs, shifty eyes—clearly meant to mock the female lead.

In truth, the female lead wasn’t that ugly. Quite the opposite—the Yan family were all natural beauties, but the female lead didn’t know how to dress up. Her heavy bangs and unfashionable black-framed glasses completely hid her facial advantages, and her timid manner of speaking and acting made her seem plain.

The seat beside her, where Jiang He sat, was empty—he hadn’t arrived at school yet. Yan Xia closed the book and tapped the shoulder of the person in the front seat.

Zhong Quan turned around impatiently. “What?”

The surrounding area was noisy, but Yan Xia’s voice sounded remarkably calm. “Who came to my seat just now?”

Zhong Quan looked at her, somewhat surprised, then said, “Why should I tell you?”

“If you don’t tell me, I’ll assume you’re an accomplice.”

“You don’t even know who it was…” Zhong Quan snorted, crossing his legs, but Yan Xia cut him off. “I can go check the surveillance footage.”

Zhong Quan was taken aback. “…It’s not that easy to get access to surveillance footage.”

“My family’s rich.” Yan Xia tilted her head, lips curving into a smile. “My dad just donated a library recently.”

In short: I can watch whatever I want.

Looking into her dark eyes, Zhong Quan involuntarily swallowed. “…It was Zhu Yuxing and a few of them.”

“Thank you.” Yan Xia leaned in close, her voice soft, like a cold-blooded snake slowly slithering past. “You weren’t part of it, were you?”

“No, no, not at all.” Zhong Quan got goosebumps all over and recoiled as if avoiding a viper, waving his hands repeatedly. “I—I was just watching from the side… I really didn’t do anything!”

Yan Xia nodded and stood up from her seat.

There was still some time before first period, and morning reading in Class F had always been equivalent to “free time.” Zhu Yuxing sat at his desk, surrounded by a few others, talking loudly without a care in the world, so much that people nearby kept frowning.

Zhong Quan watched with his own eyes as Yan Xia pushed through the crowd and stood in front of Zhu Yuxing—holy crap, how did this idiot suddenly wise up today? Was she really going to go head-to-head with him?

Zhu Yuxing was an Alpha, tall and muscular, one of the class troublemakers who often bullied the more introverted students.

He watched Yan Xia walk over, raised an eyebrow, and grinned wickedly. “Well, well, what wind blew Miss Yan the Second over here to me?”

The few people nearby joined in the fun, laughing loudly. The classroom fell silent for a moment, and all eyes turned toward them.

Yan Xia tossed her English textbook onto his desk and asked, “Did you do it?”

Zhong Quan sucked in a breath.

Zhu Yuxing glanced at it and said mockingly, “So what if I did?”

This piece of trash actually dared to come today? Someone as timid as her would definitely be scared to tears again.

Yan Xia nodded and held out a hand. “Then give me your English textbook.”

Zhu Yuxing was momentarily stunned by her matter-of-fact expression and tone, his eyes widening. “Why should I give it to you?”

“Because you ruined my book, and I can’t use it anymore,” Yan Xia said patiently. “So I’ll use yours. That’s all.”

Everyone was shocked.

Zhu Yuxing had a terrible temper—how did Yan Xia suddenly dare to provoke him?!

Though the logic was sound, to Zhu Yuxing’s ears it sounded like a provocation. Seeing the person who always submitted to others dare to defy him, his expression changed drastically. He shot to his feet and loomed over the small, frail Omega before him, growling through gritted teeth, “Give it to you? Say that one more time, you little—”

His Alpha pheromones surged into the air, a thick smell of hard liquor rushing forward, sharp and acrid.

The few people around him were all Alphas, whose pheromones repelled his own, and they paled at the sight. The seated Omegas scrambled to their feet in a panic, covering their noses and blushing as they hurried away.

In an instant, a large swath of the surrounding area cleared out.

Zhu Yuxing took another step forward, the liquor smell growing even denser, almost unbearable to the eyes.

A few Alphas couldn’t withstand the pressure, veins bulging on their foreheads as they gripped their desks and said quietly, “Xing, your pheromones…”

“Shut up!” Zhu Yuxing barked, standing menacingly in front of Yan Xia. “I’m talking to you, you useless piece of trash.”

Yan Xia stood there leisurely, looking up at him, perfectly calm. “Give it to me to use.”

Zhu Yuxing narrowed his eyes, suddenly feeling that something was off, and released double the pheromones. But the Omega before him still showed no reaction whatsoever.

The classroom was dead silent.

Yan Xia had already put on her Pheromone Blocker. She could smell the acrid liquor, but it didn’t affect her. She glanced at the Alphas around them who could barely stay on their feet, then looked at Zhu Yuxing, and belatedly realized: Shouldn’t I at least put on an act? After all, I’m supposed to be a soft, helpless Omega right now…

So she suddenly let out an “ah,” as if crushed by an overwhelming pressure, and cried out weakly, “It hurts!” Then she collapsed like a willow in the wind, convulsing all over like a fish out of water.

Zhu Yuxing: …?
