15 – Miss you
Downstairs, watching the two people going up the stairs, Xu Ying’s friends all looked puzzled.
“Yingying, who are those two country bumpkins?”
“You actually know such tacky people?”
“That man looks like a total country bumpkin, so uncouth!”
“That woman is quite pretty though.”
“Pretty she is, but she doesn’t seem decent at all!”
“She’s my sister,” Xu Ying replied.
“Your sister?!” Everyone was shocked. “The one they say was brought back from the countryside?!”
“Mhm…” Xu Ying shook her head again, explaining for Ye Yuntong, “My sister didn’t live in the countryside; she lived in a small town. She used to be a town enforcement officer there.”
After saying this, Xu Ying suddenly covered her mouth, as if she had said something wrong.
But those socialites had already heard it and were all astonished. “Town enforcement officer!”
“Your sister used to be a town enforcement officer?!”
“The kind that chases after street vendors on the road?!”
“That’s absolutely hilarious. The dignified eldest daughter of the Ye family used to be a town enforcement officer? Hahaha!”
“No wonder she looks so shady and indecent.”
“If word gets out that the Ye family’s eldest daughter used to be a town enforcement officer, people will laugh their heads off!”
“Oh no, no, that’s not it…” Xu Ying weakly defended, finally sealing her lips tightly and giving them meaningful looks. “Alright, alright, don’t spread this around. My grandfather forbids us from talking about it.”
“Fine, fine, we get it. We won’t gossip about it.”
“Come on, let’s go upstairs together and meet this town enforcement officer turned young lady!”
A group of brightly dressed socialites walked upstairs together, gossiping about Ye Yuntong as they went.
Xu Ying fell silent, listening to them mock Ye Yuntong without interrupting or stopping them, maintaining the demeanor of a refined young lady who stays out of gossip.
Third floor…
Ye Yuntong was sprawled on the sofa, one leg propped up as she watched Dong Qi being measured.
“Tongtong, I’m not used to wearing suits,” Dong Qi turned over, facing Ye Yuntong and looking at her boss-like posture.
“If you’re not used to it, take it back and keep it as a collection.”
“What’s the point of this?” Dong Qi stretched his arms again, letting the staff measure his waist. “A suit costs seventy or eighty thousand. With that money, you could buy me a measuring accessory.”
“Aren’t I buying one for you right now?” Ye Yuntong pinched the bridge of her nose. “Money only counts as mine when it’s in my pocket.”
“Uh…” Dong Qi had nothing to say.
That’s right, no matter how rich Boss Tong is, she’s still stingy, and money only truly belongs to her when it’s in her pocket!
A total money-grubber!
Ye Yuntong lazily watched as his measurements were taken. After he took off his old-fashioned jacket, Dong Qi’s thin, wiry frame didn’t look too bad. Just then, her phone rang.
It was an encrypted number.
She glanced at it and stood up from the sofa. “Have ten suits custom-made to these measurements, then take him to buy underwear and socks.”
With that, she walked toward an empty corner to take the call.
In front of her was a large glass wall, beyond which lay the bustling city center and brilliant sunlight.
“What is it?” She leaned against the glass wall, scanning her surroundings as she asked lazily.
“I missed you.”
A deep, magnetic male voice came through the phone—just three words, yet even through the voice changer, it carried an unmistakable hint of playful flirtation and simmering sensuality.
