“You’re Liu Peiyu?”
Ye Yuntong finally spoke to her.
Liu Peiyu nodded. She watched Ye Yuntong slowly approach, a surge of jealousy flashing through her heart. Ye Yuntong was very beautiful—a cold, stunning beauty, yet that cold elegance carried a wild, untamed air that left others with almost no room to compare. Liu Peiyu’s eyes shifted, her jealousy turning into disgust. Hmph, she’s just average-looking. With makeup, we’d all look about the same. Ignoring the sharp glint in Ye Yuntong’s eyes, she pursed her red lips and said haughtily, “That’s right.”
Everyone was pretty much the same—what was she trying to prove in front of her?
Besides, she was from the countryside!
Just a country bumpkin!
Ye Yuntong reached out and patted her head, seemingly in a good mood.
Liu Peiyu froze.
What did that mean?
Seeing her puzzled expression, Ye Yuntong said, “I like women who bark like you. Keep it up.”
It took Liu Peiyu a moment to react. Her eyes widened. “Are you calling me a dog?!”
Ye Yuntong was still somewhat polite to girls. She gripped the back of Liu Peiyu’s head, her eyes sharpening. “Little beauty, whether you’re a person or a dog is up to you. Talking behind my back is fine, but if you bark in my face, I’ll really make you a dog. I hold grudges, and I love picking fights. I mean what I say.”
“Don’t believe me? Try it.”
“You!” Liu Peiyu was skeptical but intimidated by the glint in her eyes.
She felt they weren’t on the same level—the other clearly didn’t take her seriously!
And it was like warning a child, giving a heads-up first!
How humiliating!
Liu Peiyu gritted her teeth, unable to swallow her anger. Just as she was about to retaliate, Xu Ying quickly stepped forward.
“Brother Tong, please don’t scare Peiyu. If Peiyu said anything wrong, I apologize on her behalf. Please don’t be angry with her!”
Xu Ying looked pitiful and spoke with grace and poise.
Hearing her words, Ye Yuntong released Liu Peiyu and glanced at Xu Ying. “That’s why I still prefer well-behaved, sensible little green teas. Little Redhead, learn more from my green tea sister here. I like girls who know how to talk.”
Xu Ying: “…”
Liu Peiyu: “…”
When did she become “Little Redhead”?
She just dyed her hair red!
“You!” Liu Peiyu was about to explode, but Xu Ying quickly held her back.
“Don’t cause trouble! Don’t provoke my sister anymore! She’s not even afraid of my grandmother!”
“But did you hear what she called me? She called me a dog!”
“Calm down, say less!”
“Fine, Yingying, today it’s for your sake. I’m so angry! How can someone like this exist? She really is…”
She glanced at Ye Yuntong, who gave her a faint look, and swallowed the rest of her words.
“Hmph! Just you wait!”
“Anytime.” Ye Yuntong glanced back at her, no longer bothering with these boring young ladies. Giving them a proper warning upfront was enough—she just didn’t want them annoying her in the future. She had no interest in dealing with them.
She casually picked out over a dozen outfits at WEM, had Xu Ying sign the bill and send it to the Ye family, then took Dong Qi back to the Ye residence first.
Returning to her room, she locked the door, checked the room, and retrieved her suitcase.
The box had a simple combination lock on the outside, but after dialing the code, a second lock popped out—a square wooden block assembled with seamless precision.
A Luban lock…
An upgraded version.
Ye Yuntong pressed the wooden blocks on both sides simultaneously. They easily recessed inward, and the tightly fitted wooden pieces began to transform, with several pieces popping out. Her fingers moved nimbly, and within three seconds, the Luban lock was open.
Once the box was opened, its contents were revealed: a pile of metal parts and a computer.
She first turned on the computer. After a blue screen, a series of dialog boxes popped up. She entered the required information one by one, and the screen went black. Immediately afterward, she officially entered a system.
She pulled a chocolate bar from the drawer and, chewing on it, began examining the interface within the system.
She opened an email first.
It contained detailed information sent by Lu Yixun.
First was a photo of a Chinese man with a small ponytail. He wore a white lab coat, his gaze deep and profound. In the photo, he smiled brightly under the sunlight, but Ye Yuntong couldn’t sense even a hint of happiness from him.
Instead, there was an overwhelming sense of world-weariness.
A fierce, resentful aura.
Bruce, 27 years old, 189cm tall, 75kg in weight, originally from Country C. He moved to the UK with his adoptive father George at the age of three. Occupation: pharmacist at a community clinic.
Lu Yixun’s information ended there. While the height and weight were detailed, nothing extra was provided. Ye Yuntong bit into the chocolate, leaned back in her chair, and rested her hands behind her head.
The fact that he was Lu Yixun’s senior alone meant this man was far from simple.
She ran Bruce’s information through her own platform again but found nothing.
She nodded. It was a fake name.
She glanced at the logo on her interface—a black eye with flowing light—and ultimately decided against using it for the search.
Never mind. It was just a mission.
She continued reviewing the mission details.
Bruce was currently hiding somewhere in City A. Lu Yixun didn’t know the exact location either. He said that if Bruce needed her help, he would contact her proactively.
Everyone was looking for him, and they had already narrowed down a range. However, the specifics would have to wait until ISAF intervened. From the moment they arrived, only they would know Bruce’s whereabouts.
Ye Yuntong took another bite of chocolate. Coincidentally, she knew where those Sixth International people would go.
She opened another tracking interface.
On it, a small red dot was blinking.
