Luo doesn’t want to go to school!”

Luo protested.

If he went to school, how was he supposed to stay by Gu Yuan’s side? He still wanted to recover his memories.Full novel: The Hatchling I Found Is an Evil God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Gu Yuan crouched down, lifted Luo into his arms and set him gently on the sofa, placing him beside the three unfamiliar female zergs.

Maintaining his half kneeling posture, he patiently tried to persuade him. “But other young male zergs all go to school. If Luo doesn’t go, then you won’t be able to learn anything.”

At this moment, Luo found himself hating this tone of Gu Yuan’s, the way he coaxed him as if he were nothing more than a hatchling.

“I can learn on my own. I don’t want school!”

As he spoke, he tried to jump straight off the sofa, only to be stopped by Gu Yuan.

Gu Yuan’s voice remained as gentle as ever. “Then Luo doesn’t mind not having any academic qualifications? Without qualifications, you won’t be able to marry me.”

Luo: !

What, there was actually such a rule among the zergs?

A white bearded female zerg sitting beside him seized the moment to add,

“That’s right. General Gu Yuan is the number one war god of our Empire. Many noble male zergs admire him as well. If Luo is just a young male zerg who knows nothing, you won’t be able to compete with them.”

Luo: !?!

Didn’t the star network say that male zergs could marry whoever they wanted? Why didn’t anyone mention that marriage required qualifications too?

He felt that something wasn’t quite right. His lips parted as if to argue yet he couldn’t find a proper reason to refute it.

Staying by Gu Yuan’s side was so difficult.

Luo sighed.

“Then I want to come home every day.”

If he had to go to school, then so be it. Since he was being mistaken for a male zerg, there must be many similarities between him and them. Perhaps, at school, he might even find some clues about his lost memories.

Seeing him finally relent, Gu Yuan let out a quiet sigh of relief and smiled. “Of course Luo can come home every day. Then now, let’s choose which school you’d like to attend, alright?”

After speaking, he lifted his gaze and exchanged a knowing look with the three principals seated on the sofa before standing up and taking a seat opposite Luo.

To Luo’s left sat two principals and to his right one more. The three highly respected female zergs, all well past middle age, could finally begin recommending their schools.

At this moment, each of them looked as though they could bloom into a flower from sheer eagerness, hurriedly opening the specially re shot promotional videos prepared just for Luo on their terminals.

“Your Highness, this is the promotional video for our Delaiser Noble Academy. Since its founding a hundred years ago, our academy has upheld the noble educational philosophy of serving aristocratic male zergs. Within the campus, we have…”

“Your Highness, please take a look, this is Isaac Fort University. The name of our university comes from the legendary S class male zerg, Ai…”

The meticulously crafted promotional videos were projected before Luo’s eyes:

Futuristic academic buildings, beautiful and exquisitely designed standalone dormitories, relaxed class schedules…

This was a life envied by countless zergs yet Luo’s gaze merely skimmed over the images before him, remaining indifferent, offering no reaction at all.

It was just another place where he would be elevated and adored by everyone.

Boring.

He had long grown tired of being the center of attention, surrounded and praised by all. It was far more comfortable to stay at home.

Seeing that Luo remained unmoved, the two principals couldn’t help but glance at each other.

At that moment, the elderly principal with the long white beard, who had earlier supported Gu Yuan and was seated on his right, smiled kindly and said,

“Your Highness, General Gu Yuan himself graduated from our Empire’s First Military Academy. I wonder if you might be interested in taking a look at the school where the General studied?”

With just that light, seemingly casual remark, all of Luo’s attention was instantly captured.

The military academy that had trained Gu Yuan? That meant it truly had exceptionally capable instructors.

He tilted his head up to look at the elderly female zerg and grabbed hold of his wrist.

“Luo wants to go to your school!”

Only this school seemed the most reliable. He would go here!

The old principal clearly hadn’t expected Luo to make such a swift decision. He froze for a moment before cautiously asking,

“…Would you like to hear an introduction first?”

Luo nodded firmly. “I want this one!”

One of the principals beside him muttered unwillingly,

“Your Highness, what’s so good about their military academy? It’s full of noisy military females, training from dawn till dusk. It’s not suitable at all for the growth of a young male zerg.”

“Exactly. Why not take another look at the specialty recreational programs of our Delaiser Noble Academy…”

The two principals were clearly dissatisfied. They didn’t believe for a second that, once Luo fully understood what kind of institution the Empire’s First Military Academy was, he would still choose to go to a place dedicated to training military females.

And so, they redoubled their efforts, enthusiastically introducing the male oriented courses at their own schools, while not forgetting to take a jab at the overly harsh training programs of the First Military Academy.

“At the Empire’s First Military Academy, the schedule is practically full every day. Not only would Your Highness need to study academic subjects but also starship piloting, mental power control, close combat…”

Luo tightened his grip on the old principal’s sleeve.

Wasn’t this exactly why he wanted to go to a military academy?

“Moreover, there are almost no male zergs in the Empire’s First Military Academy. If Your Highness studies there, you’ll be very lonely.”

Luo nearly tore the sleeve in his grasp.

Perfect. He didn’t want to have any contact with the male zergs of this world anyway.

Seeing that not only had Luo not been dissuaded from attending the military academy but that his eyes were actually growing brighter, the principal of Isaac Fort University wiped at the nonexistent sweat on his forehead.

Catching sight of Gu Yuan, who had remained silent all this time, a sudden idea struck him and he hurriedly spoke.

“Your Highness! The Empire’s First Military Academy operates under a closed campus system. Students only get leave once a month. If you go there, you won’t be able to see the General every day!!”

Luo: ?

That wouldn’t do. He could clearly distinguish what mattered more between studying and Yuanyuan. Eating came first, Gu Yuan came first.

He hesitated. “Then Luo won’t, ”

The elderly principal beside him, as though he had long anticipated this reaction, smiled kindly.

“It’s alright. I’ve already discussed this with the board of directors. As long as Luo is willing to attend our school, we can make a special exception and arrange for him to commute, allowing him to return home every day.”

“And… ”

The old principal looked at Luo.

His gaze was gentle. When he looked at Luo, the first S class male zerg in history, it was as if he were looking at a gifted junior full of potential, rather than assessing him like a valuable commodity the way the other two principals did, a gaze that made one uncomfortable.

“I’ve heard that when Luo had just hatched, due to emotional instability, it caused a mental power surge. Unconsciously, you used male pheromones and injured many female zergs.”

“I believe Luo wants to learn to control his mental power and in the future, you wouldn’t want to hurt Gu Yuan either, right?”

Luo nodded.

He truly wasn’t very good at controlling his tendrils. Most of them moved in accordance with his emotions. Once his feelings surged, it became difficult to rein them in and he would often unconsciously leave marks that were too heavy on Gu Yuan.

He hated that faint sense of his own power slipping out of his control.

The old principal smiled, stroking his beard.

“As it happens, our Empire’s First Military Academy is considered the best in the interstellar realm when it comes to research on mental power. Nearly all of the most authoritative professors in this field are gathered at our school. If Luo is willing to come, I can immediately arrange for you to receive the finest instruction and resources.”

The two principals beside them were clearly unwilling to give up such a golden opportunity. They still wanted to say something more but Luo had already made up his mind completely.

He jumped down from the sofa, ran over to the opposite side and stubbornly took hold of the hand he had failed to grasp earlier, lacing his fingers carefully with Gu Yuan’s.

“Yuanyuan, I want to go to the same school as you. Is that okay?”

Gu Yuan, who had remained silent the entire time, was surprised.

He had thought Luo would be angry at him for making the decision to send him to school without permission. He had never expected Luo to come and ask for his opinion instead. A faint, unconscious smile surfaced in his eyes.

“Of course you can and I don’t think Principal Charles would refuse Luo either.”

“Charles?”

Luo repeated the unfamiliar name after Gu Yuan, then turned to look at the elderly zerg.

“Is your name Charles, Grandpa?”

His honorifics came out awkwardly, his halting use of the common language successfully drawing a laugh from the kindly Charles.

Charles stood up from the sofa as well and knelt halfway beside Luo, speaking gently.

“Yes, Luo, Your Highness. I am Principal Charles. If you’d like to call me Grandpa, that’s fine too. From this moment on, you can already be considered a student of our Empire’s First Military Academy.”

“Okay.”

Luo responded obediently.

His gaze was still somewhat dazed, clearly not yet understanding what kind of place the Empire’s First Military Academy truly was,

A place where, out of tens of thousands of female zergs, only one might pass the entrance examination. Upon graduation, one would already hold rank as an officer. Over the past century, it had produced countless generals of extraordinary merit and had even trained the very first male zerg commander, the current Zerg Emperor.

It was a legend among military academies, the most coveted institution for all female zergs across the interstellar realm.

Originally, Charles had not planned to come. After all, aside from His Majesty the Zerg Emperor, he had never seen another male zerg willing to enter a military academy.

But he could not refuse the request of his most outstanding student, Gu Yuan. With a tentative mindset, he brought along a preliminary plan drafted by the board of directors and came as invited. He had never expected that he would actually outcompete the other two well prepared principals.

One could say this was thanks to Gu Yuan’s influence.

The outcome was an unexpected delight. Naturally, Charles would not nitpick at Luo at a time like this. He merely smiled faintly and reached out to pat the young male zerg’s head, without explaining just how extraordinary the Empire’s First Military Academy truly was.

By the Emperor above, their academy might soon welcome a second Emperor.

Filled with thoughts of how to guide Luo into becoming the next Zerg Emperor, Charles had no idea that, at this very moment, the gears of fate had already begun to turn.

This young male zerg, whose mental power was the highest since the founding of the academy, would not only resound throughout the entire zerg race in the future but would also step beyond it, advancing into the wider cosmos, until, amidst the reverence of all beings in the universe, he would be crowned as king.

At this moment, this was merely the opening chapter of history.

Luo, my dear, being tricked like this is the price of lacking knowledge… (sigh)

Luo won’t become the Zerg Emperor, he will go even farther than that.
