[Once such a thought appeared, it became impossible to take back.
Luo did not dare withdraw the shared perception connected to the tentacle. He stood quietly outside the door for several long seconds, waiting until Gu Yuan spoke another command before suddenly saying:
“Little Black.”
What he used was not the common language but the language of the aberrants.
Little Black immediately rolled out from the darkness in response.
“My lord, I’m here, chirp! What orders do you have for me?”
Little Black was still the same round, pitch black creature as always, neither human nor insect. Its existence blatantly reminded Luo of one thing,
He was a monster from somewhere unknown.
The nights on the Zerg capital planet were cold. For the sake of the little male zerg’s health, Gu Yuan had always kept the entire house at a temperature comfortable for Luo yet at this moment, Luo felt cold again for the first time in a long while.
Unable to help himself, he curled his bare feet slightly and thought absentmindedly that the last time he had felt “cold” was when he had still been inside the egg.
“Position Three is vacant. Send reinforcements to fill it. Main forces retreat…”
The conversation traveling through the tentacle quickly pulled Luo’s drifting thoughts back. He raised his head and asked Little Black,
“Can you connect me with the aberrants at the border again right now?”
Little Black bobbed up and down, weighing its current energy reserves before answering confidently,
“Yes, chirp!”
Ever since meeting his lord again, Little Black’s power had been steadily increasing. Returning to its original form was only a matter of time now, chirp!
As Luo Xivide’s number one little crow lackey, Little Black had been ignored for far too long.
Naturally, it would never miss such a perfect chance to prove itself. The moment it finished speaking, it skillfully selected one lucky aberrant at random from the border and immediately began establishing a connection between Luo and the creature.
Speaking of which, the ability of shared perception had originally been granted because Luo Xivide had been too lazy to personally deliver messages. He often sent Little Black to the front lines instead.
Who could have expected that after the passage of time, the ability his lord once considered useless would now become the greatest reliance of these lonely master and servant?
Life was so bitter, chirp. When would his lord finally recover his memories and once again lead it into glorious slaughter across the battlefield? QAQ
Meanwhile, after Little Black’s final “chirp,” Luo suddenly felt the study door before him begin to twist and spin violently.
Following the dizziness, he obediently closed his eyes.
When he opened them again, Luo saw stray bullets whistling past beside his ears.
Bang!
One exploded near him.
Luo’s expression did not change in the slightest. Clumsily, he attempted to control the aberrant he had possessed and steer it away from the battlefield.
But the aberrant only wanted to charge toward the Zerg capital planet. It desperately resisted the control of the unknown force, refusing to retreat no matter what.
Thus, amidst the raging flames of war, an extremely bizarre scene appeared on the battlefield.
An aberrant that had originally been charging forward heroically suddenly slammed to a halt. Then, as though it could no longer control its own body, it began stumbling backward repeatedly.
Yet before retreating more than a few steps, it abruptly lurched forward again.
Then backward.
Forward.
Backward.
Forward, backward, forward, backward…
In less than a few seconds, the once ferocious aberrant looked as though it had split into two halves. One half struggled desperately to advance, while the other fought just as hard to retreat, twisting itself into a black knot upon the battlefield.
“Vice General! Look over there!”
One military female noticed the abnormality first and immediately reported it to Delis beside him.
Delis’s pale colored eyes swept emotionlessly across the aberrant that looked as though it were performing in a circus. His tone remained completely flat.
“I’ll handle it.”
It was not unheard of for cunning aberrants to appear on the battlefield, pretending to be injured in order to lure military females into a trap before springing an ambush.
The battle situation was already urgent. No matter what trick the enemy was planning, they could not allow this to continue unchecked.
The safest solution was to eliminate it immediately and permanently remove the threat.
Before his sentence had even fully fallen, Delis had already spread his wings and flown toward the aberrant twisted into a knot, startling Luo even more. Sweat was already gathering on Luo’s forehead from struggling to control the creature.
Why was he coming specifically to kill him?!
There were so many aberrants nearby, so why target only him?! He was one of the good guys! He came to help!
If the aberrant he possessed was killed, then his connection to the border would be severed too, alright?!
Luo desperately tried to retreat. After failing again and again, he finally could not endure it anymore.
Was this aberrant an idiot? Did it not know how to obey orders?!
An inexplicable fury surged up from the bottom of his heart. Almost instinctively, Luo blurted out:
“Fall back, you idiot!”
Those words had been spoken outside Gu Yuan’s study. Logically, there was no way they should have reached the distant border.
But at the exact moment he spoke, every aberrant at the border fell silent.
More accurately,
All darkness itself fell silent.
Delis, who had been rushing straight toward Luo, immediately sensed something wrong. Wary of accidentally leaping into an aberrant trap, he abruptly stopped only fifteen meters away from Luo.
Luo suddenly felt dizzy.
It was as though someone had truly hurled him into outer space billions of light years away. He could even feel his lungs frantically expanding and contracting from lack of oxygen, desperately trying to draw in the thinnest traces of air.
In that instant, it felt as though he had become that nameless little aberrant himself, become every aberrant at the border, every fragment of darkness.
The entire universe seemed to pulse in rhythm with his breathing.
Without understanding how, Luo abruptly detached from the aberrant’s perspective and began overlooking the entire battlefield from a vantage point he could not even name,
The aberrants had opened a brand new wormhole beyond the location where the Zerg military forces were stationed.
Without the border defenses blocking them any longer, countless aberrants poured endlessly out of the wormhole, charging wildly through the completely unprepared military females as they surged directly toward the capital planet.
The military females of the First Legion had naturally never imagined that one day a cosmic wormhole would open practically at their doorstep.
They were caught utterly off guard and for a time the defensive lines collapsed into chaos, casualties mounting heavily.
Under normal circumstances, a commander directing a war remotely while absent from the battlefield itself was considered a major taboo in warfare.
But facing such an emergency situation, no one could truly blame Gu Yuan for taking temporary command.
Because regardless of who stepped in to command, this battle was destined to end badly.
Rather than allowing Delis, who had only temporarily assumed the position, to bear the Empire’s punishment afterward, Gu Yuan would much rather shoulder the charge of “incompetent command” himself.
He had always been like this.
Merciless toward enemies.
But deeply loyal toward comrades.
Then…
What about him?
What did Gu Yuan think of him?
Why did Gu Yuan only treat him like a child?
Was it because he himself always relied on Gu Yuan’s indulgence to act obedient and spoiled?
But he didn’t want to be a child in Gu Yuan’s eyes.
Luo felt even dizzier.
He could sense that he could not maintain this state much longer. All he could do was grit his teeth and force himself onward, following Ye Wen’s instructions and tracing the source of his power back to the very beginning with the thin thread of consciousness he still possessed.
And so, his spiritual power scattered outward alongside his awareness.
Though it still felt as though it might collapse at any moment, in that single instant it spread along the pathways of power and blanketed the entire universe.
He sensed a world even broader and more boundless beyond the Zerg planets.
Beginning from the deepest darkness and extending to every dark creature hidden within the sea of stars, all of them heard a voice descending from the endless vault of the cosmos.
The voice was ethereal and intangible, resonating as though synchronized with the universe itself. It trembled through existence and rang directly within their souls.
It said:
“Retreat.”
Cold.
Lofty.
Absolute.
Exactly the same as Luo Xivide’s voice from tens of thousands of years ago, before his slumber.
Not a single creature dared lift its head at that moment, much less question where their supreme god had disappeared to all these years.
They were merely the attendants of divinity.
They had no qualifications to gaze directly upon a god.
The moment every aberrant froze in place simultaneously, Delis immediately realized something was wrong. He retreated at once in alarm and quickly reported the situation to Gu Yuan through the communication screen.
But before he could even finish speaking, he witnessed the most shocking sight of his entire life as a zerg.
The densely packed aberrants suddenly seemed to receive some kind of command.
In perfect unison, every single one of them dropped to their knees.
Almost maintaining the posture of kowtowing, they crawled backward in retreat.
The aberrants, who had never once ceased advancing,
Retreated.
“General…?”
Through the communication screen, Delis showed Gu Yuan the scene unfolding before him, his voice overflowing with disbelief.
They had fought against the aberrants for so many years. Just when it seemed the defenses were finally about to collapse, the enemy had simply… left?
As he watched the aberrants withdraw, Luo, already half unconscious, finally relaxed.
His vision went completely dark and he fell straight backward.
Landing on the thick carpet did not hurt.
It felt as though he had simply collapsed into cotton.
Little Black’s anxious chirping and Gu Yuan’s frantic footsteps echoed beside him. Before losing consciousness completely, Luo still could not help feeling a little proud.
Luo did it!
Luo helped Yuanyuan solve a huge problem!
Luo was an especially, especially amazing good boy!
