At that moment, comments flooded the livestream at lightning speed, while dazzling gift effects filled the screen, creating a chaotic, overwhelming spectacle.
Startled, Luo sat upright, staring intently at the colorful effects, his tentacles behind him rising in tense readiness.
“Bang”
A burst of purple fireworks blossomed across the projection screen, scattering shimmering sparks that seemed to fill the entire living room.
“Boom ”
At the same time, Luo’s defensive tentacles lashed out toward the explosion, striking with full force and blew a hole straight through the wall.
Silence fell.
Sunlight streamed in from outside through the newly created gap. Luo stared blankly at the hole he had just made.
Wasn’t that supposed to be an attack from the “live broadcast”? Why had it disappeared without actually attacking?
Confused, Luo reached out and tugged on Gu Yuan’s sleeve.
“That… gone.”
He hadn’t even managed to hit it properly before it vanished.
As his words fell, the livestream, momentarily stunned into silence, erupted once more.
“So he was trying to grab the fireworks? Oh my god, how is he this cute!!”
“And so strong! Is this really our S+ class male, QwQ?!”
“Don’t worry, Your Highness! There’s more, there’s more! Just fireworks, I’ll set them off for you! What’s ten thousand star credits?!”
“I’ll send ten! Let His Highness catch them slowly!”
“Hey, leave the General’s house intact, will you?!”
Before Gu Yuan even had the chance to answer Luo’s question, the livestream was suddenly flooded with a barrage of fireworks. What began as purple bursts quickly shifted into white, filling the entire room with dazzling, radiant colors.
Seeing that Luo was about to activate his tentacles again, Gu Yuan hurriedly explained, in the simplest terms possible, what exactly a “livestream” and “holographic projection” were, if only to save his already precarious house.
So… livestreaming wasn’t some kind of alien creature?
The lingering light scattered across his black hair as Luo sat on the sofa, staring blankly at the brilliant fireworks filling the room, a hint of disappointment creeping into his expression.
He had been thinking of devouring this “livestream” to recover his strength… but it turned out it wasn’t something edible after all.
With that thought, Luo instinctively turned his gaze toward the only thing present that was edible, Gu Yuan, only to find that the other’s expression didn’t look particularly pleasant.
He blinked in confusion.
Had something just happened that made his delicious little “food” unhappy?
Gu Yuan’s mood was indeed sour but not because Luo had blown a hole in the wall.
He had just been in communication with Wu You yet hadn’t received even the slightest hint about any “livestream.” It was clear how tightly the Male Protection Association had kept this sudden, unilateral “surprise broadcast” under wraps.
Setting aside the fact that entering his residence with recording equipment and broadcasting without his permission was already a violation of the law, just the thought that his every action from now on would be displayed to the entire Zerg society made him feel deeply uncomfortable.
And more importantly,
Recalling Bai Langdi’s repeated claims of “caring” for the male, Gu Yuan couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.
If the Association truly cared about Luo as much as they claimed, they should have kept everything about him strictly confidential.
Even if Luo might one day become an S+ class male, right now he was still nothing more than an innocent, ignorant hatchling.
To thrust him directly into the sight of every female across the interstellar network through a livestream, no one could guarantee that some unhinged individual wouldn’t develop malicious intent, track him down through the broadcast and do something irreversible.
This whole stunt from the Association was nothing more than envy over Luo’s S+ classification. They were unwilling to let the military monopolize the credit for “protecting an S+ male,” eager to claim a share of the glory, while conveniently making things difficult for Gu Yuan, who was responsible for Luo’s protection.
The rift between the military and the Male Protection Association had existed for a long time. The Association had always looked down on military females who rose through combat achievements, viewing them as the greatest threat to males.
Even the earlier order requiring Gu Yuan to personally escort the egg back from the frontlines had been pushed forward by the Association behind the scenes.
With the border war growing increasingly tense, Gu Yuan had, up until now, chosen to endure their provocations in silence, preferring to avoid unnecessary conflict until the situation stabilized.
But that did not mean he had no bottom line.
With old grudges piled atop new ones, Gu Yuan had no intention of continuing to tolerate them and embolden their behavior further.
Remaining seated, he let out a cold, mocking laugh as he looked at Bai Langdi, whose back was already slick with cold sweat.
“According to Article 32 of the Residential Section of the Imperial Penal Code, conducting unauthorized filming within a private residence for profit requires compensation to the homeowner at twice the amount earned, along with three months of imprisonment. Under the Male Protection Act, there are corresponding clauses as well, only the penalty changes from imprisonment to permanent exile.”
“Filming or secretly recording a male without consent constitutes a criminal offense. If significant profit is involved, it can be escalated to a major criminal case.”
“And one more thing, he has a name. His name is Luo.”
“As the Empire’s most authoritative organization for male protection, you are openly objectifying and exploiting a male and now you’ve exposed the only S+ class male in the Empire in centuries to the public without any regard for his safety. May I ask, what exactly are your intentions?”
Facing a livestream broadcast to the entire star system, Gu Yuan showed not the slightest restraint, openly ridiculing the Association without leaving them any dignity.
He was effectively dragging their reputation through the dirt. Not only did Bai Langdi’s legs go weak but even the high ranking officials watching from behind their screens clenched their teeth in fury.
The moment his words landed, the livestream erupted.
“What? This was a private broadcast by the Association?”
“Wait, then what about the money I just sent?! That was for His Highness!”
“Honestly, isn’t Gu Yuan making too big a deal out of this? How could we possibly want to harm His Highness? He just wants to keep him all to himself!”
“Exactly! Who does Gu Yuan think he is? His Highness hasn’t even spoken yet, what right does he have to make decisions on his behalf?”
“We’re here to see His Highness, not Gu Yuan. What gives him the authority to lecture us?”
Comments flashed rapidly across the screen, most expressing shock at the Association’s actions, while others directed their hostility toward Gu Yuan.
Even without fully understanding the situation, Luo could easily read every comment, thanks to his powerful mental perception.
Many of them were insults aimed at Gu Yuan.
Lowering his gaze, Luo murmured in a voice so soft it was almost inaudible:
“So annoying.”
He didn’t really understand what Gu Yuan had been talking about. In truth, he had no concept of “law” or “morality,” nor any innate sense of respect for such things.
But he understood one thing clearly, Gu Yuan was angry.
Because this “livestream” was harmful to him under those so called “laws,” Gu Yuan was angry and now he was questioning the ones responsible.
And yet, those strange beings in the livestream were blaming Gu Yuan instead.
…He didn’t like them at all.
Luo’s quiet murmur went unnoticed. Invisible to all, his tentacles once again spread out, crawling through every corner of the room.
Bai Langdi’s legs had already gone weak but under the urging of his superiors through his earpiece, he had no choice but to force himself to speak in front of the entire network:
“General Gu Yuan, we believe you are not qualified to speak on behalf of His Highness, ahhh!!”
He never got to finish his sentence.
His body was suddenly lifted upside down into the air, suspended as if seized by an invisible force.
