The sun hung bright in the azure sky, baking the earth until it was scorched and cracked; even the resilient blades of grass were parched, their stems drooping.

A group of beastmen gathered together. Every one of them was young and sturdy, with animal skins wrapped around their waists, their bodies exuding a powerful sense of strength.

“Which female is holding a martial arts competition to attract males? There are so many people.” A wolf beastman who had just arrived peered curiously into the crowd.Full novel: The Heartthrob of the Wild Beast World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You don’t even know? It’s Lilith, the most beautiful female in Jushou City!”

The wolf beastman was instantly excited, but when he saw the white light emanating from the contestants on the stage, he immediately deflated.

“She’s actually at First-Order Great Perfection? It seems like it’s impossible to win without Second-Order Beast Qi.”

Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he spotted someone. He shouted, “Hey! Karl!”

A particularly tall wolf strolled past leisurely. Upon hearing the shout, he cast a faint, indifferent glance toward the beastman.

His fur was thick and lustrous, a rare silver-grey—unrestrained, cold, and intimidating.

“Karl, you should give it a try!” the beastman said, going on to introduce Lilith to him.

“Snort!”

The silver wolf snorted disdainfully and continued on his way.

“To think someone would actually look down on even Lilith… Just what kind of female are you looking for?”

The silver wolf’s pace didn’t change, but his eyes flickered slightly.

What kind of female? He didn’t know either.

But one thing was clear to him: his marriage would have no room for a third, fourth, fifth, or sixth person.

At the thought, a hint of self-mockery appeared in the silver wolf’s eyes.

Females were rare and noble; how could they possibly be willing to stay with only one male? Even the City Lord didn’t dare make such an unreasonable demand of his own females.

Karl walked into the forest to hunt as usual when he suddenly caught a scent. He perked up his ears alertly.

Strange, why is there the scent of a female in the forest?

His heart skipped a beat. Without another thought, he immediately began to search.

Help! Help! HELP!!

Qin Zhenzhen screamed for help in her mind, but her breathing was so ragged that she couldn’t make a sound.

Behind her was a tiger in relentless pursuit.

Heaven only knows, she was just practicing a dance in the park to prepare for an international ballet competition. Who could tell her why there was a tiger in a forest park?

The tiger seemed old and frail, which had given her a chance to flee, but that chance was clearly slipping away.

The distance between the girl and the tiger closed rapidly. Then, the tiger lunged, pouncing toward her.

Thump!

As luck would have it, Qin Zhenzhen tripped on the flat ground, luckily dodging the fatal pounce.

Turning her head, she saw the tiger’s maw descending from above.

Qin Zhenzhen’s heart constricted. Instinctively, she let out a desperate scream.

“Ah!”

In that near-death moment, scenes from her past flashed through her mind. Qin Zhenzhen realized that in her life, she had done almost nothing except dance ballet. Her heart was filled with unwillingess.

She wanted to live! She desperately wanted to live!

“Whine!”

The girl’s scream was hysterical, but it was drowned out by a shrill, pained howl.

Stunned, Qin Zhenzhen moved her arms from in front of her face and looked forward in disbelief.

An exceptionally large silver wolf stood beside her, one paw pinned firmly on the tiger’s head. The wolf’s blood-stained head was rising from the tiger’s neck, blood dripping slowly from its sharp fangs.

Qin Zhenzhen was dazed. Had she been saved by a wolf?

Karl let out a long breath of relief.

Fortunately, the female was fine.

When he first caught the female’s scent, he thought he was hallucinating. He had searched frantically, and the sight he eventually found made his fur stand on end.

It really was a female, and she had almost lost her life to a tiger!

Just what kind of person would leave a female alone in the forest?

Karl was furious. He looked at Qin Zhenzhen, intending to shift into human form to offer some words of comfort, but for some reason, the entire wolf froze as if struck by lightning.

Qin Zhenzhen was wearing a snow-white ballet tutu, sitting huddled on the forest floor covered in withered branches and leaves. She looked exactly like a wounded little white rabbit. Her face was only the size of a palm, yet she had a pair of large, bright eyes that stared straight at the silver wolf, seemingly able to imprison him within her gaze.

“Did you come to save me?”

Qin Zhenzhen found it incredible. This wolf was clearly here to save her, especially since the look in its eyes was dazed and devoid of hostility, dispelling her last shred of doubt.

“Thank you.” Qin Zhenzhen’s tone was sincere. She was extremely grateful to this wolf for giving her a second life.

After stopping for a moment, Karl’s heart began to pound wildly again.

He used to secretly mock those males who couldn’t move when they saw a female, but he never expected that he would be no different from them.

A female! A lone female! To find a lone, beautiful female in the forest was something males only dreamed of, yet he had actually encountered it.

Then, he looked at the female’s hands, wanting to know how many males she had. His expression froze.

There wasn’t a single Beast Ring, which represented a partner’s mark!

“Awoo-woo-wuff~”

Karl wanted to say something, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he realized he was still in his beast form. The pitch was so strange he sounded like a Husky.

“Pfft!”

Qin Zhenzhen burst out laughing, her body and mind relaxing instantly.

Wolves really were the ancestors of Huskies.

The tips of Karl’s ears turned red, and he awkwardly shifted into his human form.

Now it was Qin Zhenzhen’s turn to freeze.

A monster?

“Come back to the tribe with me!”

Karl’s tone was forceful. He had already decided that even if he encountered her clansmen, he would snatch this female for himself.

He had finally met a female who made his heart flutter, and she didn’t even have a partner yet. If he didn’t seize this opportunity, he truly deserved to die alone.

Qin Zhenzhen’s eyes grew even rounder. He could actually talk!

“Tribe?” A spark of clarity flashed through Qin Zhenzhen’s chaotic thoughts.

The strange environment, the sudden appearance of a wild beast, and a talking werewolf… everything pointed to one possibility—she had transmigrated!

“Where is this place?” Qin Zhenzhen asked urgently. She looked around at the towering trees, any of which would take five people to encircle. Her face was the picture of shock.

Seeing that the female’s expression wasn’t right, Karl quickly replied, “This is the Black Mist Forest. What’s wrong?”

It’s over, it’s over. I really have transmigrated.
