“What are you saying?” I asked
“You’re close to Eamon aren’t you? And you said that you were Zeus Ephraim’s daughter right?” He concluded.
I was startled.
” You believe that?”
“I guess? No one tells the truth these days… But you were brave enough to say that you are his child..so I guess I can believe it.” I stared astounded
“Are you Zeus Ephraim’s daughter?” Welsh asked quietly
“I am.”
“Well then I guess you are” he gave me a lopsided grin to which I returned with half the a smile.
I opened the file to start reading what he’d selected.
First name on the list.
Zeus Ephraim.
I looked up at him.
“Is this why you believed me?” I asked and watched his face scrunch up in hurt and disbelief.
“No. Zoe. I truly believe you. There’s no reason for me to lie about it.” He replied and I sighed knowing that he wasn’t lying.
The information on Zeus here was what everyone basically knew about him.
Widowed, friends with higher-ups, was a higher-up, devoted, kind, charity organizations owner and co-owner founder of TZ conglomerate; a dabble in many industries, father of three kids; Chris Ephraim; heir to his conglomerate, Joy Neil; famous actress and wife to Rick Neil another famous man who owns the biggest entertainment industries in various places in the world and the last child; unknown identity – me.
Welsh’s information was excellent and detailed with pictures and addresses of recent sightings of members of the Ephraims’ family.
Except information about the last child.
“This is good.” I smiled in encouragement
Okay, that sounded weird, calling my dad by his name.
I never did that.
But there’s always a first isn’t there?
“Zeus.” Welsh affirmed “It’s easier to have a meeting with him than the others” he seemed certain.
But that was somehow true.
To meet with Joy, Rick or Chris was like asking to go to the moon but with dad.
It was relatively easier.
Especially if it’s a school project.
Trust him to sometimes be happy to help.
“So Zeus Ephraim then” I circled his picture and opened the page to the next person.
Looking at the person’s name and face, I stared at Welsh as he gave me a small shrug.
After a few bouts of silence, I spoke calmly, questioningly “Dave Kyle?”
“E’s father may not be your favorite but I am a fan” Welsh hurriedly spoke “Plus E’s agreed to help. He’ll scheduled a meeting when we’re ready.” I raised a brow at him and frowned.
“On the bright side, we have one down and ready to go…. when we’re ready….. that’s better than nothing right?” He spoke.
I had to give him credit.
Dave Kyle.
The ones with powers knew him as Silver X.
To the world, Dave had the mind of a god, a demi-god.
Dave was an artist.
Art came alive in his hands. His art sold for billions of dollars.
And his classes.
You had to be willing to drain your money for the just a session.
His students were the best there ever was so he always had clients.
Royalty fell at his feet just to get a drawing from him and just like dad, he was widowed with two kids.
Stephanie King.
A great singer, married to Michael King.
One of the best race car drivers.
And then there was whom I’d recently meet.
Eamon Kyle.
My desk mate.
