“You’re really going all out aren’t you?” I asked
“I know. This is gonna be so much fun!” He smiled.
I checked the next profile and this was half as surprising as the first two.
“Race Carl.” I was exasperated.
“He’s even harder to meet than the first two!!” I whisper-yelled
“I know.
I know…” Welsh paused and leaned forward “But guess what?” He asked and continued without my input.
Carefully looking around for eavesdroppers, he beckoned me forward.
I signed up for this.
I told myself as I leaned in a little.
” Gary Carl is his son!!
“Welsh steamed my eardrums. ” Ugh!!
” I groaned and glared at him.
Realizing his mistake he apologized quickly and resumed his one-sided conversation.
” And he’s agreed to help as well….
”
” Hmmm?
” I frowned.
That didn’t sound right.
” On the premise that you’d go on a date with him” he completed.
I knew it.
Now this seemed like something Gary would do.
“Not happening.” I glared at Welsh.
“I know. It was just a suggestion.”
“Were you hoping I would accept?” I was getting close to being enraged
“No.” He answered quickly “But he’s hot. I would agree if he asked me if I was a girl.”
“Yeah right…” This chapter is updated first at g.com.
“No honest” he swore with his right hand up and his left hand on his chest.
Race Carl.
A crazy biochemical and mechanical engineer.
He could build anything from nothing.
Race was a maniac.
Whoever needed his help had to pay millions just to secure a meeting and billions to get the job done.
Especially the government and military.
He was the go to guy if you wanted a good job.
Race moved with both crowds.
Right or wrong.
Only your cash and his time spoke.
Anything else was irrelevant.
Dad hated him.
Or thought the least of him.
And Gary was his son?
Not surprising at all.
I rolled my eyes at him and looked at the next candidate.
Lance Ivor.
“It seems you’ve got the hots for the rich and influential.” I muttered glancing at him.
“What can I say. Our schools’ rocking with them.” He shrugged nonchalantly.
Lance Ivor was a scientist, a highly recommended and recognized one.
He’d developed life saving medicine for many diseases, and illnesses.
Just like the other three on the list, he dabbled in many industries and owned a huge conglomerate, was married to a vampire and was a vampire; classified information and his relative was in our school as well.
How conducive Welsh.
I thought to myself.
You really thought in and out of the box or boxes.
Each of these people were the cream of the crop.
Relatives in school.
” Nicely done Welsh.
You really thought this one out!!
”
” Makes it easier.
Am I right?
” He grinned” You are” I answered.
I was now resigned to my fate.
We erased Race Carl from our list because there was no way I was going on a date with Gary.
Then we decided on our questions for each interview.
Not too deep.
We weren’t looking for scandals or secrets.
The information was supposed to be historical—things about their lives, careers, and journeys that weren’t already repeated in every article about them.
We agreed to begin with the hardest person to meet with and end with the easiest.
It was getting late so we had to regroup on Thursday to decide who’s first.
“Dave Kyle” Welsh began the next day
“No.” I swiftly answered.
E and I weren’t exactly on good terms here.
The inquiry was on my plate and I totally wasn’t ready.
“Why not?” Welsh seemed frustrated by my answer.
He was right and I knew it.
Dave Kyle was definitely harder to meet up with than the others.
“Eamon and I aren’t exactly on speaking terms right now so….” I began
“So? Fix it up then!” Welsh was agitated.
