“Sis! Chen Yan! I’m back!”

Chen Yan was in the kitchen cooking dinner. Hearing her voice, he poked his head out.

The instant Su Qingyue saw him, her eyes lit up.

“Chen Yan! Long time no see!”

Chen Yan nodded slightly.

“You’re back?”

“I’m back, I’m back!” She hurried over and peeked into the kitchen. “Wow, what are you making? It smells amazing.”

“Your favorites.”

Su Qingyue froze for a second.

Then a huge smile spread across her face.

“You actually remembered what I like to eat?”

Chen Yan said nothing and simply continued cooking.

Leaning against the kitchen doorway, Su Qingyue watched him with narrowed eyes.

“Chen Yan, while I was away, how have things been between you and my sister?”

Chen Yan paused briefly.

“What do you mean?”

“You know…” She lowered her voice dramatically. “Are you two together yet?”

Chen Yan glanced at her.

“You tell me.”

Su Qingyue froze for a second before nearly bouncing with excitement.

“You are! You definitely are! That look on your face just now, no way you’re not together!”

Chen Yan ignored her completely.

Unable to contain her curiosity, Su Qingyue rushed upstairs to find her sister.

At the time, Su Qingyuan was sitting in her room reading.

Seeing her enter, she looked up.

“You’re back?”

Su Qingyue threw herself dramatically onto the bed.

“Sis! I have something important to ask!”

Su Qingyuan looked at her calmly.

“What is it?”

Su Qingyue leaned closer.

“Are you and Chen Yan together now?”

Su Qingyuan froze.

Then she lowered her head and returned her attention to the book in her hands.

“No.”

Su Qingyue stared at her suspiciously.

“Sis.”

“What?”

“Your face is red.”

Su Qingyuan looked up immediately.

“It isn’t.”

“It is!” Su Qingyue crawled closer. “Sis, you can’t fool me. Every time you lie, your face turns red!”

Su Qingyuan went silent for two seconds.

Then she closed the book and looked at her sister.

“Are you very free these days?”

Su Qingyue grinned shamelessly.

“Not exactly, but investigating your love life is currently my top priority.”

Su Qingyuan shot her a look.

Scooting closer, Su Qingyue lowered her voice conspiratorially.

“Sis, seriously, what’s going on between you two? Tell me. I swear I won’t tell anyone.”

Su Qingyuan looked at her quietly.

After a long pause, she spoke softly.

“I don’t know either.”

Su Qingyue blinked.

“You don’t know? What does that mean?”

Su Qingyuan lowered her gaze.

“I just… don’t know what we are right now.”

Looking at her expression, Su Qingyue suddenly understood.

She reached out and held her sister’s hand.

“Sis, what do you want things to be?”

Su Qingyuan fell silent for a moment.

Then she said quietly,

“I want him to stay here forever.”

Su Qingyue smiled.

“Then let him stay forever.”

Su Qingyuan looked up.

“How?”

Su Qingyue blinked dramatically.

“Sis, you run a corporation worth billions. You can manage huge business deals, but you can’t handle one Chen Yan?”

Su Qingyuan paused.

Su Qingyue continued earnestly,

“Think about it, what matters most to Chen Yan?”

Su Qingyuan thought for a moment.

“Me.”

Su Qingyue nearly burst out laughing.

“Sis, wow, that confidence.”

Su Qingyuan glared at her.

Immediately straightening up, Su Qingyue cleared her throat.

“Okay, serious answer. A guy like Chen Yan looks calm and detached on the outside, but the person he cares about most is definitely you. You just need to let him know you care about him too.”

Su Qingyuan looked at her.

“Is it really that simple?”

Su Qingyue nodded firmly.

“It really is.”

That evening during dinner, Su Qingyue quietly observed the two of them.

She noticed how Su Qingyuan naturally placed food onto Chen Yan’s plate.

And how Chen Yan wordlessly poured water for her sister.

The two hardly exchanged words throughout the meal, yet the quiet understanding between them made it feel as though they had lived together for years.

Biting lightly on her chopsticks, Su Qingyue smiled to herself.

Very, very happily.

After dinner, Chen Yan went to wash the dishes.

Su Qingyue slipped into the kitchen.

“Chen Yan.”

“Hm?”

“My sister likes you.”

Chen Yan paused briefly.

Su Qingyue looked at him carefully.

“You know that, don’t you?”

Chen Yan stayed quiet for a moment.

“I know.”

Su Qingyue immediately smiled.

“Then what about you?”

Chen Yan resumed washing the dishes.

“I like her too.”

Su Qingyue froze.

Then she instantly slapped a hand over her mouth to stop herself from screaming.

“Really?!”

Chen Yan nodded.

“Then why haven’t you confessed?”

Chen Yan thought about it.

“I don’t know how.”

Su Qingyue nearly laughed herself breathless.

“You can beat up four guys by yourself, but you don’t know how to confess to a girl?”

Chen Yan glanced at her.

“That’s different.”

Su Qingyue tried very hard not to laugh.

“Fine, fine, different.” She thought for a moment before grinning mischievously. “How about I help you?”

Chen Yan looked at her.

“How?”

Su Qingyue blinked dramatically.

“This genius already has the perfect plan.”

The next day, Su Qingyue dragged her sister out shopping.

They spent the entire day wandering around and buying all sorts of things.

By evening, on their way home, Su Qingyue suddenly said,

“Sis, I forgot to buy lipstick. Can we stop by the mall one more time?”

Su Qingyuan was exhausted.

“You go.”

“Nope. You have to come with me.” Su Qingyue grabbed her arm and started pulling. “Come on, it’ll only take a minute!”

Before Su Qingyuan could protest, she had already been dragged out.

Once they arrived at the mall, Su Qingyue suddenly announced she needed the restroom and told Su Qingyuan to wait at the entrance.

So Su Qingyuan stood quietly by the doorway.

And waited.

And waited.

Yet Su Qingyue never came back.

Frowning slightly, she pulled out her phone to call her.

At that exact moment, the giant screen hanging in the mall suddenly lit up.

A line of words slowly appeared.

【Su Qingyuan, there’s something I want to tell you.】

She froze.

People nearby gradually slowed down, curiosity drawing their attention toward the screen.

The words disappeared.

Then Chen Yan appeared.

He stood in what looked like a room, looking slightly nervous.

“Qingyuan,” he said softly, “there are things I couldn’t find the courage to say to your face, so… I decided to do it this way.”

Standing among the crowd, Su Qingyuan stared at the screen without moving.

“The first time I met you, it was raining. You were trapped in an alley by several thugs, but even then, you stood tall and refused to bow your head.”

He paused briefly.

“At that moment, I thought, this woman is extraordinary.”

“Later, I became your assistant. I cooked for you every day, and woke you up every morning. At first, it was only work.”

A faint smile appeared on his face.

“But slowly, I started looking forward to seeing you every morning.”

“And looking forward to waiting for you to come home every night.”

“You’re afraid of the dark, so I leave the lights on for you.”

“You struggle to sleep, so I stay with you and listen to the rain.”

“You can’t cook, so I teach you.”

“You don’t take care of yourself, so I’ll take care of you.”

“You once asked me why I do all of this.”

He looked directly into the camera.

Then smiled.

“Because I like you.”

The crowd around her immediately burst into cheers and teasing whistles.

Su Qingyuan stood frozen, her eyes gradually reddening.

On the screen, Chen Yan continued,

“I know I’m not very good with words.”

“But I want you to know this.”

“You are the first person in my life I’ve ever wanted to protect forever.”

He paused.

“So, Qingyuan…”

“Would you be willing to let me stay by your side forever?”

The screen suddenly went dark.

The crowd fell silent.

Then, from behind her, a familiar voice softly said,

“I am willing.”

Su Qingyuan turned around.

Chen Yan stood there behind her, holding a bouquet of flowers.

Lilies.

Her favorite flowers.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face as she looked at him.

Chen Yan slowly walked over and held out the bouquet.

“Sorry for doing it like this.”

She took the flowers and looked up at him.

“Idiot.”

Then, standing on tiptoe, she kissed him.

The crowd exploded into applause and excited cheers.

Meanwhile, hidden off to the side, Su Qingyue held up her phone, recording everything.

The grin on her face looked exactly like a sly fox who had successfully stolen a chicken.
