The Doctor took the test report from his assistant and scanned down the lines.

Mental state: normal.

“Every single one of these indicators is perfectly normal.

Then what was going on with Subject 115 earlier?

Was he faking it?” Recalling the footage he had seen on the security feed, the Doctor frowned.

That level of sheer, agonizing pain wasn’t something a seven-year-old child could simply act out.

Just as he was about to set the matter aside for now, his eyes caught the magic power index at the bottom of the report.

His gaze sharpened instantly.

He turned to his assistant.

“Bring me Subject 115’s previous test reports.” The assistant quickly retrieved the older documents from a thick stack of files and handed them over.

The Doctor took one look and murmured, “Just as I suspected.” “Doctor, did you find an anomaly?” “Yes.

Subject 115’s magic power index has increased significantly compared to his last test.” Hearing this, the assistant peered at the report in his hands.

Sure enough, Subject 115’s previous magic power index had been a mere 677.

While slightly higher than an average civilian, it was nothing extraordinary.

After all, there was a little girl in the Bureau right now whose magic index was an absurd 100,000+.

But on this new report, Subject 115’s magic index had leaped from 677 to 6,521—an increase of nearly ten times his original capacity.

This level of magic was on par with a low-ranking wizard.

The assistant desperately wanted to ask how this was possible, but seeing the Doctor already deeply engrossed in his thoughts, he held his tongue.

He had no choice but to swallow his curiosity.

Meanwhile, back in his room, Cain stared at his clenched fist, feeling perplexed.

“Is it just me, or am I physically stronger than before?” Without anything to test his strength against, however, he couldn’t be entirely sure.

Lying on his bed, Cain began to strategize his next steps.

Since he had been given a second chance at life, he absolutely refused to spend it wandering aimlessly like he had in his past life.

He had been reincarnated into another world!

And not just any world—the world of Fairy Tail, a world overflowing with beautiful women!

Surely, having one, two, three, or maybe even four wives wouldn’t be too much to ask, right?

Hehehe.

It was decided.

His long-term goal: forge an incredibly strong, durable body.

What?

You ask what that has to do with building a harem?

Ah, you’re too young, too naive!

Without a powerhouse of a physique, how could anyone possibly handle a harem?

As for the Black Dragon and all those world-ending threats?

He would leave that to the main characters.

His only job was to kick back and enjoy life.

His short-term goal?

Obviously, getting the hell out of this nightmare.

“Sigh…

I wonder what the timeline is right now.

Has Ur sent Ultear to the Bureau of Magical Development yet?

I remember the Bureau getting blown up sometime after she arrived.” The only reason Cain was so certain he was in the Fairy Tail world—and specifically inside the Bureau of Magical Development—was because he had spotted Brain in his recent, jumbled memories.

That was the dead giveaway.

“Wait, didn’t Brain lie to Ur later, telling her that Ultear was dead?

I think that’s how it went.

Damn it, I can’t remember the details clearly!” Frustrated, Cain smacked his forehead.

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

“Looks like I need to prepare for the worst.

First, I need to memorize the layout of the Bureau as best as I can, watch the guard patrols, and track the staff movements.” After mentally outlining his immediate priorities, a slight smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth.

His eyes gleamed as if he could see right through the sterile white walls and into the outside world.

Suddenly, Cain bolted upright, his expression turning deadly serious.

He realized he had overlooked something absolutely crucial: his current face!

If he was going to build a harem, his ‘character model’ was vital.

If he was ridiculously handsome, building a harem wouldn’t be ‘easy mode,’ but it’d be close enough.

But if he was ugly?

Ha!

A harem?

Did he have overwhelming magical power?

Absolute political authority?

Infinite wealth?

If he had none of those and was ugly, he might as well hit the reset button on this life right now.

He frantically scanned the room but found absolutely nothing resembling a mirror.

He began cursing internally.

“Damn it, what kind of research lab is this cheap?

Fck!”* Four days passed since his memories had awakened.

Over these four days, Cain noticed that his treatment as a ‘high-tier experimental subject’ was surprisingly decent.

At the very least, he was well-fed and hydrated.

Given the circumstances, he had to admit his starting point wasn’t terrible.

At least he hadn’t been kidnapped to build the Tower of Heaven.

Furthermore, every two or three days, he was escorted to a massive room.

The setup was simple—a large, open space with some basic recreational equipment and little else.

However, the room was filled with many other children his age.

Cain assumed these were the other ‘high-tier subjects.’ While absentmindedly stacking a set of building blocks, Cain covertly observed his surroundings.

Suddenly, he noticed a little girl with twin black ponytails sitting quietly by herself in a far corner.

She looked like a fragile porcelain doll, sitting completely still.

Her eyes held a mixture of deep sorrow, brewing hatred, and a faint, desperate longing.

Ultear sat quietly, her mind repeatedly flashing back to the days she had lived with her mother, Ur.

But those happy times had been far too short.

Her mother had brought her to this place so quickly.

Every single day here, she was terrified, constantly praying that her mother would come bursting through the doors to take her home.

She had waited and waited, but her mother never came.

So, she had decided to go find her instead.

It was unimaginable how a six or seven-year-old girl had managed to escape the heavily guarded Bureau of Magical Development and trek across mountains and rivers to finally reach her home.

Yet, what awaited her wasn’t her mother’s warm embrace.

It was the sight of her mother smiling happily with two strange boys.

In that instant, her entire world shattered.

Ultear didn’t even know why she had returned to the Bureau.

Perhaps, in her broken heart, she felt she truly had nowhere else to go.

The memory of Ur and those two disciples smiling so brightly felt like a knife twisting in her chest.

The dark, gloomy aura surrounding her was practically visible.

“What’s wrong?” The sudden voice made Ultear jump.

She had been so deeply submerged in her dark thoughts that she hadn’t even noticed someone approaching her.

She looked up to see a cute boy with bright blonde hair looking at her with a curious expression.

The genuine concern in his dark eyes made her young, battered heart flutter for just a second.

“It…

it’s none of your business,” she snapped.

Seeing the little girl stubbornly turn her head away, Cain couldn’t help but laugh.

He really wanted to tell her, ‘Little sister, the tsundere act went out of style ages ago.’ But he didn’t walk away.

Instead, he plopped down right next to her, admiring her flawless profile.

“I’m Cain.

Cain St.

Syrus.

What’s your name?” Ultear had no intention of answering, but Cain kept staring at her intently.

Feeling a bit flustered under his gaze, she finally mumbled, “Ul…

Ultear Milkovich.”
