Crack—
Shen Shushu’s palm twisted outward, the tendons in her wrist snapping.
The lunate bone in her palm pierced through the flesh, her hand pressed against her forearm.
Her hand was broken, blood smearing her entire arm, quickly pooling into a small puddle on the floor.
“It hurts so much!” Shen Shushu’s eyes welled with tears, her innocent gaze filled with grievance as if she had suffered the greatest injustice:
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Wen Shi. You’re terrifying.”
Wen Shi pulled Shen Shushu closer and chuckled softly. “I’ve studied medicine for years. Do you think I can’t tell the difference between a man’s and a woman’s bones?”
When he had saved Shen Shushu that day, he had noticed her unusually thick wrist, which had already made him suspicious of her gender.
After Shen Shushu entered the room, the patient’s sudden transformation only confirmed that she was, in fact, a man.
Because.
The female patient in the room rejected all men except Wen Shi.
Whenever a man approached, she would transform.
“Studied medicine?” Shen Shushu recalled the things she had observed over the past few days.
Looking at the half-human, half-spider female patient, she suddenly understood.
With her identity exposed, Shen Shushu tore off her voice changer, her eyes turning fierce. “You’re the Dungeon Boss!”
No wonder the patient hadn’t attacked after transforming.
Wen Shi had suppressed her.
No wonder Xu Jie had prescribed random medications, yet the patient hadn’t died after taking them.
The Players had assumed it was the nurse’s doing.
In reality, Wen Shi had been manipulating things behind the scenes.
Other patients transformed either in their upper or lower bodies.
But this female patient’s left half had turned into a three-meter-tall black widow spider, its back covered in densely packed eyes.
Her other half remained human.
Due to the height difference, her human half hung in mid-air.
The blue-and-white striped hospital gown dangled emptily in the air, creating an eerie and terrifying scene that delivered a powerful visual impact.
“Whether it is or not has nothing to do with you.” Wen Shi drew his Scalpel and pointed it at Shen Shushu’s throat. “Last night, after you left the room, what did you do to the clinic’s patients?”
Shedding her disguise, Shen Shushu acted decisively, throwing her entire body backward and forcibly tearing her own wrist free.
Her desperate resolve to survive even at the cost of her wrist earned Wen Shi’s reluctant admiration.
Decisive and ruthless—truly a veteran Player.
“I only came here to find someone.” Shen Shushu glanced at the transformed patient, her expression pained and sorrowful:
“I knew you wouldn’t let me take her, so I had no choice but to resort to the brute-force approach!”
The brute-force approach referred to slaughtering the Dungeon Boss to force an exit.
Shen Shushu knew Wen Shi was extraordinary.
But she was no pushover either.
Shen Shushu pulled a smoke bomb from her pocket and threw it at Wen Shi, then materialized a rusted axe out of thin air and charged at him.
Bang—
The axe narrowly missed Wen Shi, slamming heavily into the bed rail and sending sparks flying.
Wen Shi reacted swiftly, punching Shen Shushu’s bloodied, mangled wrist.
“You’re playing dirty!”
The pain shot straight to her skull. Shen Shushu’s eyes rolled back, and she nearly passed out.
Wen Shi reached for his Scalpel at his waist but instead pulled out the Short Blade Xu Jie had given him. He paused briefly before closing in, aiming straight for Shen Shushu’s throat.
“Wife, help me!” Shen Shushu scrambled to dodge, rolling and crawling. “Help me kill him, and I’ll save my sister.”
The white mist instantly turned into Blood Mist, its thick, metallic scent flooding Wen Shi’s nostrils. A bone-chilling cold shot from his feet to the top of his head, spreading through his body like an electric shock, leaving his hands and feet icy cold.
Just as the short blade was about to slice Shen Shushu’s throat, Wen Shi’s wrists, ankles, and neck were entangled by hair as vast as the sea. A woman’s mad laughter echoed from the room.
“Bang—”
Wen Shi was dragged by the hair and slammed heavily against the wall.
“Hiss.” Wen Shi gasped in pain, his hand instantly going numb.
From the blood mist emerged a female ghost in a red dress, its hem fluttering like surging waves in a sea of blood, carrying a suffocating beauty.
The female ghost was far stronger than the nurse, stronger than all the neighbors and patients Wen Shi had ever encountered.
“You may be strong, but my wife is no weakling either. No matter how strong you are, can you surpass an SS Plus grade Aberration? You short-sighted waste.”
Shen Shushu shamelessly enjoyed the benefits of relying on his wife.
He darted in front of the mutated patient and whistled at the female ghost: “Wife, help me kill him, slice him into a thousand pieces. Love you~”
The female ghost used the blood mist to form a heart shape, flaunting their affection.
Wen Shi’s strength exceeded Shen Shushu’s expectations, forcing him to reveal his ultimate trump card.
Wen Shi had caused him to lose a wrist.
It wasn’t too much for him to send Wen Shi to the guillotine, was it?
Dungeon Bosses were meant to be farmed, after all.
“Wife.” Shen Shushu took out a pill and tossed it into the mutated specter’s mouth, smiling. “Kill all the monsters in the clinic, leave none alive.”
He wouldn’t give Wen Shi a chance to revive.
The female ghost floating in mid-air stared coldly at Wen Shi, licking her crimson lips.
She pulled out a blood-dripping dinner knife, let out a roar, and lunged at Wen Shi.
As a top-tier specter, she feared neither Wen Shi’s counterattack nor the restrictions of the instance rules. In the face of absolute power, all restrictions were paper tigers.
The blood-red dress hem enveloped the entire ward, suffocating death intent drowning Wen Shi. Blood mist spread, and agonizing screams and low roars echoed one after another.
Seeing that the pill he had given his sister had no effect, Shen Shushu’s heart tightened. He took out a white card and briefly stored her inside it.
This was an artifact he had obtained from another instance.
A small storage space.
Listening to the pained groans, Shen Shushu removed his red hood, pulled off the wig, walked to the door, and turned the handle, ready to receive the players’ admiration.
Having killed the dungeon boss, he would be the players’ savior.
The moment Shen Shushu’s hand touched the doorknob—
A scalpel flew out from the blood mist, piercing through his back and heart, nailing him to the wooden door.
“Did I say you could leave?”
Wen Shi emerged from the blood mist, holding a short blade in his right hand and the female ghost’s head in his left. Blood dripped from his distinct knuckles, leaving a trail of blood on the floor.
The blood, filled with intense malice, burned Wen Shi’s skin, leaving terrifying scars. Yet, his expression remained calm, utterly indifferent.
“You…” Shen Shushu turned his head, staring at Wen Shi in horror, gritting his teeth. “Just what level of strength do you possess?”
Fear, uncontrollable fear, like a beast breaking out of its cage, devoured Shen Shushu’s reason. The deep-seated terror made his heart race wildly, his face contorted in agony.
To be honest, Wen Shi wasn’t sure of his own strength either.
He had never lost a fight against anyone.
The female ghost was indeed formidable, but the clinic was Wen Shi’s territory.
Here, he called the shots.
Wen Shi tossed the female ghost’s head at Shen Shushu’s feet.
The bloody head was a horrifying sight, causing Shen Shushu immense pain. He looked up at Wen Shi, hatred as tangible as steel.
“Without permission, no one may take my patients away.”
Wen Shi did not answer but instead asked, “What did you do to those patients that caused them all to mutate?”
Shen Shushu gasped heavily.
Pain.
So much pain!
It hurt more than death.
Shen Shushu was in unbearable agony. He grinned and said, “Come here, come closer and I’ll tell you.”
Wen Shi approached without any caution.
The next second, Shen Shushu’s head suddenly transformed into a massive serpent’s head.
