The blood-stained chainsaw emitted a deafening roar, like the whisper of death.

The howling of the turning gears unsettled Wen Shi. If he hadn’t nimbly sidestepped and retreated, he would have already become a ghost beneath the chainsaw.

The nurse froze, her stiff smile solidifying on her face as she saw Wen Shi emerge. She hastily set down the chainsaw.

She hurriedly closed the door: “Tonight, you deserve a good dream!”

Wen Shi looked at the Aberration disguised as a nurse, feeling only strangeness.

He knew every patient in the clinic.

He was intimately familiar with the names and abilities of the corpses in the basement.

This Aberration clearly wasn’t from the clinic, yet it could disguise itself as a nurse, indicating some familiarity with the clinic.

“Since you’re here, come in and sit for a while.” Wen Shi grabbed the Aberration’s hand. His smile was gentle and harmless, like a hospitable host inviting a neighbor over.

If he guessed correctly,

this Aberration was likely his neighbor.

The seventh-day memorial of the last neighbor hadn’t even passed.

And here came another.

Wen Shi didn’t mind adding another specimen.

“N-no… I’m fine.” The Aberration looked at the gentle, harmless Wen Shi and felt only a creeping dread, a chill spreading through its entire body. Its smile stiffened:

“Dr. Wen, I’m not feeling well and wanted to see you. I didn’t realize it was past ten and you were already asleep. I’ll come back tomorrow!”

The clinic closed before ten.

Anyone who disturbed Dr. Wen’s sleep would die.

That was the clinic’s rule.

But today, for some reason,

the clinic door was still open past ten, and that terrifying nurse was no longer on duty. The neighbor, smelling the scent of living humans from the clinic, couldn’t resist its hunger and decided to transform into the nurse’s appearance to come in for a bite.

Who would have thought it was so unlucky?

It had clearly knocked on a Player’s door.

But the one who opened it was Wen Shi.

Wen Shi wasn’t scary; it was the nurse beside him who was terrifying.

“If you’re not feeling well, you should get a proper checkup.” Wen Shi yanked the Aberration into the room and slammed the door shut.

“Bang—”

The door separated two worlds.

The neighbor, about to ask where the nurse was, looked at Wen Shi.

In the clinic, the nurse was the strongest.

Without the nurse, Wen Shi was just a walking piece of pork belly—tender, delicious, and mouthwatering.

“Why are you looking for the nurse?” Wen Shi calmly took out his Scalpel, silently moving behind the neighbor. “She has other arrangements and isn’t here.”

The panicked neighbor, hearing that the nurse wasn’t here, grinned from ear to ear. As it opened its bloody maw, it turned around, and the previously quiet chainsaw erupted with a violent roar:

“Dr. Wen, my stomach hurts terribly. Would you like to come inside and take an immersive look?”

Compared to the tender, delicious Players,

the temptation of taking over the clinic was greater.

It wasn’t that it wanted to commit evil or kill.

It was just that Dr. Wen was too hospitable.

It had already declined his kindness, yet he still dragged it into the room.

Too enthusiastic.

If it didn’t kill Wen Shi, it would be a disservice to such enthusiasm.

“No problem, if you don’t mind being cut open without anesthesia.” Wen Shi’s smile remained gentle.

Anyone who came uninvited or disguised as a patient to enter the clinic was an enemy.

Before Wen Shi’s Scalpel could touch the neighbor’s body,

the neighbor seemed to have eyes on its back and swiftly dodged.

Wen Shi lunged into empty air, his body involuntarily leaning forward. He twisted sharply mid-air to avoid the oncoming chainsaw.

“Doctor Wen, when it comes to weapons, every extra inch gives you an advantage.” The neighbor’s eyes were filled with greed:

“You’re just an F Rank Instance Dungeon Boss, only capable of treating patients and performing surgeries, with no offensive power at all.

I am an S-Class powerhouse.

If you voluntarily hand over the clinic to me,

I promise to feed you like a dog every day.

Keeping dogs—I have plenty of experience, one more won’t make a difference.”

Besides, Wen Shi’s figure and appearance perfectly matched her aesthetic.

One more lapdog, double the happiness.

The Female Ghost’s gaze made Wen Shi feel deeply unsettled.

This kind of staring was just like how some lecherous men stare at women—naked, full of desire, as if they couldn’t wait to strip the other person’s clothes off, sizing them up and making comments. It was utterly disgusting.

“Keep me? You’re not even worthy of tying my shoes.” Wen Shi moved with lightning speed, appearing beside the Female Ghost and delivering a fierce kick to her side.

His speed was extraordinary.

The Female Ghost had no time to react.

She instinctively swung her chainsaw.

“Thud!”

The Female Ghost’s hand holding the chainsaw was pinned to the ground by a Scalpel.

“How is this possible!” The Female Ghost groaned in pain, staring at Wen Shi in disbelief. Only then did she realize he was far from F-grade. She immediately mutated, her neck elongating and her mouth opening grotesquely wide as she lunged for Wen Shi’s throat.

Wen Shi leaped aside, dodging the attack. He noticed a dense row of eyeballs had suddenly appeared on the Female Ghost’s neck.

Crimson eyeballs dangled and rolled along her neck.

With just one glance, Wen Shi felt dizzy, nauseated, and his movements slowed.

“You are the only one who has ever forced me to become a monster.” The Female Ghost pulled out the Scalpel, her rough voice filled with resentment and hatred: “You… will… die!”

Her head, now resembling a man-eating flower, hovered above Wen Shi, dripping saliva. The foul, fishy odor assaulted his senses, worsening his nausea and dizziness.

Just as her mouth was about to snap shut, Wen Shi drew the Short Blade from his waist and swung it upward.

“Slash—”

The Female Ghost was cleaved in two by the sharp Short Blade, dying without understanding how she could have lost to an F-grade piece of trash.

Her body gradually dissolved into a wisp of white mist, vanishing without a trace.

Dizziness and nausea washed over Wen Shi, his stomach churning violently. Without time to tidy the room, he rushed to the bathroom and vomited profusely.

After a while, he cleaned up the room, took a shower, and changed into a fresh set of clothes.

Staring at his suited reflection in the mirror, Wen Shi felt a splitting headache. He weakly braced his hands against the sink, his handsome face pale as paper.

Those eyeballs of the Female Ghost had left him disoriented, and a blurry figure flashed through his mind.

The figure somewhat resembled Xu Jie, yet not entirely. He strained to distinguish it, triggering a migraine that caused him to lose focus and nearly capsize in what should have been a simple encounter.

It was almost laughable.

As the finest doctor, Wen Shi was helpless against his own migraines, only able to rely on medication to ease the pain.

He usually avoided taking pills.

Because during migraines, the hallucinations allowed him to glimpse a vague figure and catch fragmented whispers about his past.

He pieced these fragments together, desperately trying to reconstruct a complete life.

The results were negligible.

“Boss, many unfamiliar Specters have appeared in the clinic.”

Crimson words materialized on the snow-white wall.

“Understood.” Wen Shi lightly tapped his forehead. “I’ll handle it.”

He wasn’t the kind of boss who pushed his employees into danger when trouble arose.

Wen Shi remembered that the Revolving Door capable of teleporting to the clinic had been securely locked. Where had these Specters come from?

The medicine for relieving headaches was in his own bedroom.

After taking the medicine, Wen Shi went downstairs and instantly understood why the clinic had suddenly been flooded with a large number of Aberrations.
