Transmigrated

Towering trees stood majestically on the ground, their lush foliage stretching and intertwining, blocking most of the sunlight and making the entire forest somewhat dim.

Bai Lou carefully avoided the sunlight filtering through the branches, shrinking back as much as possible to hide itself in the darkness, even though it seriously doubted whether the shadow could conceal its striking white fur.Full novel: The Kitten Was Coveted by a Wolf King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Feeling the pain and weakness in its body, and watching the occasional enormous creature passing by below, Bai Lou could only pray that the towering tree it clung to, and its tiny body, barely enough to eat a mouthful, would deter any passing predators.

A stag strolled up to the tree, its body twice the size of its counterparts on Earth, and its imposing antlers making it look menacing.

Just as Bai Lou finished thinking this, the stag lowered its head to graze, and a colossal creature pounced from behind, pinning the stag to the ground and snapping its neck in one bite.

A pair of icy blue cat eyes suddenly widened, and Bai Lou quickly covered its mouth with its paw, afraid of making a sound.

The beast below looked extremely ferocious. Bai Lou thought it resembled a dinosaur from Earth, but as a cat, it couldn’t tell exactly which.

Logically, such a massive beast would have made a great commotion, but perhaps because the ground was so solid and the trees so tall, this “dinosaur” had arrived without making much noise. The stag was killed the moment it noticed it.

Bai Lou somewhat blankly shifted its gaze. Wild animals have keen senses, and it was afraid that staring directly at it would attract the beast’s attention.

Taking a soft breath, Bai Lou suddenly caught a glimpse of a large white blob out of the corner of its eye, strikingly conspicuous in the lush, dim forest.

It quickly turned its head and saw a giant white wolf charging towards it from the direction the beast had come from. The wolf was enormous, and almost as big as the dinosaur under the tree, yet it ran without making a sound.

Bai Lou sighed and covered its eyes with its paws, trying to deceive itself.

Where have I ended up?!

A deafening roar came from below. The white wolf’s ambush had failed. The dinosaur, which was feeding, noticed the attack just as it was about to arrive. Unable to turn around in time, it could only swing its massive tail at the white wolf.

The white wolf’s charge halted, and it nimbly leaped to the side, then grabbed at the dinosaur’s neck with its paw.

Hmm?

The cat’s paws quietly parted slightly, its eyes filled with curiosity as it peered through the gaps in its paws at the battle below. It noticed a faint, almost invisible blue light shimmering on the wolf’s paw—was that…spiritual power?

This wolf seems somewhat similar to it. Is it also a demon? It sniffed a few times, its scent seemingly not quite demonic. A demon of this strength wouldn’t possess such limited controlled spiritual energy.

The battle below was nearing its end. Large chunks of flesh were torn from the dinosaur’s neck, blood gushing out. Its abdomen had been ripped open by the white wolf’s sharp claws, large pieces of its intestines and internal organs spilling out. It was clear it wouldn’t live much longer.

The giant wolf’s white fur was stained with blood. Bai Lou noticed huge wounds on its right forepaw and side, and that it had also been whipped in the tail by the dinosaur. He wondered if it had suffered internal injuries.

At this point, it no longer aggressively attacked the dinosaur, but merely circled it, occasionally attacking and harassing it to prevent its escape.

After only a few minutes, the dinosaur’s movements grew increasingly weak. It let out a shrill scream and, with its last strength, charged at the giant wolf. The giant wolf leaped, its long tail lashing out at the dinosaur’s wounded abdomen.

The immense force instantly killed the already severely injured dinosaur, sending its body flying violently into a tree trunk.

“Meow!”

A terrified meow rang out. With the tree shaking, Bai Lou, already weak and powerless, slid off the branch. Reflexively, it hooked its paw onto the branch, dangling in mid-air.

Yes, it had crashed into the very tree it was on!

Forgetting to curse, Bai Lou cautiously looked down. Sure enough, the giant white wolf had spotted it and was looking up at it.

Bai Lou felt its legs go weak. Its paw, still clinging to the branch, slid down a little, then it quickly clung on tightly and desperately climbed back up.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, wolves can’t climb trees!” Reassuring itself, Bai Lou looked up at the branches above, feeling a pang of panic. Should it try to climb any higher?

Just as he hesitated, the few rays of sunlight in the distance were blocked. Bai Lou whirled around, and before him hovered a giant white wolf with pale blue whirlwinds swirling beneath its four paws.

Bai Lou: ……

Bai Lou: !!!

The white cat’s fur was practically standing on end. It instinctively wanted to arch its back, but feared the giant wolf would mistake it for an attack.

It remained stiff and motionless, secretly channeling the few wisps of spiritual energy it had just gathered into its paws, waiting for even the slightest chance to retaliate and escape should it be attacked.

Lang Zhan frowned, looking at the cat that had exploded into a large, round ball in front of him. He asked, “A cub? What are you doing here by yourself?”

Hearing the giant wolf speak in human language, Bai Lou paused, then shook his head nervously. “Meow~” It wasn’t a cub.

It seemed this wolf was indeed a demon, but even being a demon didn’t guarantee friendliness. This only made Bai Lou more nervous.

If it were a mindless beast, it might have a sliver of hope to escape, but as a fellow intelligent demon, if it attacked, it would likely be doomed.

A hint of suspicion flashed in Lang Zhan’s cold, pale blue eyes. “You can’t speak?” He understood beast language, but adult beastmen rarely communicated with roars and only cubs did, yet Bai Lou denied it.

Bai Lou nodded helplessly, a hint of grievance and innocence showing in his round, cat-like eyes. Speaking human language wasn’t an innate skill of demons, unless they used human form or cultivated special techniques.

Blue Star’s spiritual energy is scarce, and it’s already in the Dharma-ending Age. Even humans struggle to cultivate, let alone demons. It doesn’t even have a proper cultivation method, and naturally, it can’t speak human language in its original form.

Lang Zhan hesitated as he looked at it. He had approached Bai Lou thinking it was a cub and wanted to ask about its situation. If its parents were gone, he would rescue it.

But Bai Lou said it wasn’t a cub, and Lang Zhan also felt Bai Lou’s aura was strange, carrying a fresh, pleasant scent, but not like a cub’s.

They would take in cubs and females, but generally wouldn’t take in stray adult beastmen.

Lang Zhan thought for a moment, then decided to take the cat away first. His divine power was almost depleted. Once it was exhausted, he wouldn’t be able to levitate, and it would be extremely dangerous in the Beast Forest.

There was only one cat tribe nearby, and the adult cat beastmen were three or four times larger than this cat. It was too small, couldn’t speak, and didn’t seem like an adult beastman. It was also extremely weak so leaving it here would only mean certain death.

Lang Zhan extended its left forepaw and placed it in front of Bai Lou. “I’m a warrior from the nearby wolf tribe. Grab on tight, I’ll take you back to the tribe first. There’s just been a battle here so many wild beasts will come soon, and you’ll die.”
