Feeding

Meeting its gaze, Lang Zhan paused in his eating, and remained silent for a moment. He finished the meat, scooped up the wolf cub from his lap and tossed it to the beastman, then caught the skewer of meat and placed it near the white cat’s mouth beside his leg. “Lang Yue, help feed Tu for a bit; the priest won’t let me use my right hand.”

He could tolerate the cub bothering a female, having already paid her. He couldn’t expect a female to feed an adult beastman.Full novel: The Kitten Was Coveted by a Wolf King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Meow~” Thank you.

“Can’t use your right hand? Who will take care of you these next few days?” Lang Kai seemed to remember something, glanced at a nearby campfire, and lowered his voice, “How about Lang Quan helps take care of you for a few days?”

Lang Zhan glanced at him, frowning, “What nonsense are you talking about? I can take care of myself, it’s not like I can’t use either hand.”

Everyone understood what it meant to have a female take care of him and Lang Zhan would never do that unless he was looking for a mate.

“Don’t you think about yourself, or about Lang Tu? Yue and I don’t mind having another cub, but Lang Tu…” Lang Kai paused, somewhat helplessly, “This little cub thinks too much. No matter how much we feed him, he won’t get fat. In a few days, my cub might even make him dizzy from sitting on it.”

The round ball in his arms and the white wolf cub both looked up at him. Lang Kai chuckled, covering the round ball’s head with his large hand and giving it a hard pat, silencing its protests.

A hint of hesitation appeared on Lang Zhan’s face. He truly had no interest in Lang Quan. For his own sake, he would never agree to find a mate like this. But if it were for someone to take care of Tu…

He frowned, his usually indifferent eyes showing signs of annoyance. He and Tu’s father had died at the hands of a dinosaur, and his mother, unable to bear the shock, fell ill and died not long after.

Lang Tu was only six months old then. Lang Zhan was busy organizing hunts during the day and didn’t have time to care for it. Since Lang Yue’s cub was about the same age, he entrusted Lang Tu to Lang Yue’s care.

Perhaps inheriting its parents’ sensitive nature, Lang Tu grew increasingly thin and listless. Lang Kai complained to him several times, making it seem as if they were only feeding their own cub and mistreating Lang Tu.

The priest, after examining Lang Tu, also said that it would be best for it to have its own home.

Lang Zhan knew that Lang Quan liked him. Many females in the tribe were interested in him, and they all mentioned Lang Quan because he was the most outstanding unmarried female in the tribe.

Is this how it is? Lang Zhan felt unusually lost.

Bai Lou ignored the gossip as its stomach was already growling with hunger.

It opened its mouth and gestured towards the meat skewer offered to it. The skewer was enormous and suspected that it weighed nearly a pound of meat on it.

With its teeth gripping the top piece, Bai Lou struggled to tear off a chunk of meat.

Bleh!

The sound beside him interrupted his thoughts. Looking down, he saw the white cat yelping, trying to spit out the meat.

He extended a finger and poked the white cat’s chin, closing its mouth. Meeting the cat’s accusing and aggrieved eyes, Lang Zhan suddenly felt a slight lightening of the irritation weighing on his heart.

Putting aside his worries for the moment, Lang Zhan’s brow relaxed, but his expression remained cold. “Don’t spit it out. This is dinosaur meat, it’s very precious.”

Bai Lou swallowed the meat with difficulty. It had a strange, fishy taste, which Bai Lou, whose tastes had become more human-like after becoming a demon, found utterly unpalatable!

The cat was aggrieved, but it dared not spit it out.
