“I am so proud of you, my son! At least now we have some hopes of gaining more wealth when she gives birth to my grandson,” she declared, her voice rich with joy.
Across them, a fragile young woman knelt on the floor, scrubbing away at the dirt that clung to the tiles.
Her fingers were raw from the harshness of the detergent, yet her expression was serene, seemingly unbothered by the conversation between mother-son.

Her life was more of a widow than of a married woman.

She pointed at her and lashed out angrily.
Eva who was mopping the floor raised her head up and looked at Ms jasmine, her eyes watery and bloodshot as she wiped silva spited on her face by Jasmine.
“Jasmine!” Eva gritted her teeth and hissed, her heart pumping so loud.
“Dont you ever in your entire life address me by my first name! You ain’t worthy of calling me by that name.” Jasmine expressed her disgust and contempt.
Eva remained silent and refrained herself from replying.
” Good for nothing idiot!!” Jasmine growled.
Morghan Hudson used to be the patriarch of the hudson family.
Two years prior, Morgan encountered robbers on his way back home.
He was robbed and shot, lying in the pool of blood he was left to die.
Luckily, Eva, who was wandering on the streets bumped on an old man laying on the ground and no one was ready to help, all they did was watch as the old man was straggling for his breath.
It was urgent that she even had to carry him on her back, by the time she reached the hospital, her body was drenched with Morgan’s blood.
Thanks to her, the old man received treatment .
After that incident, Morgan felt indebted, he decided to pay Eva back by marrying Eva to his grandson Charles.
Unfortunately, every family member wasn’t happy with the old man’s decision hence they opposed it.
The old man feeling indebted decided to pay a deaf ear.
On his grandfather’s behest Charles and eva got married, and have been living with the rest of the family for five years.
Even the most cruel and cold hearted person would have warmed up to someone in the span of time.
But the ganged, bitter mother son duo made it mission impossible.
As usual, Charles and his family looked down on Eva from the depth of their hearts, reason being, she grew up on the street and has unknown family background.
Though she tried so hard to reach their expectation, with all her effort, yet still, Charles and his family would always find a way to criticize, mock and hit her each and every day.
In all her years in the hudson, only when morgan was still alive was when Eva was at ease, since Jasmine managed to restrain herself, but only to a certain extent.
Unfortunately, it’s been one month since Morgan’s demise, Jasmine and the entire family practically intensified and focused all their efforts on throwing Eva out of the house.
She became the unwanted object in the family and was being treated worse than the dogs.

Later that day Eva was frowning in the room, the door swung open, it was Charles.
He walked in, reeking of alcohol.

Eva slowly touch her aching forehead and little blood was oozing, she helplessly wiped it off with the end of her dress.
