“Then where do you expect me to go by this time of the night?” Eva shot back, her voice slightly trembling.
“Back to the streets where you belong!
And mark you, we are getting divorced tomorrow at the civil records office!”
“What?
But why?” she shouted flabbergasted.
At that moment, Jasmine entered the room, and immediately started cursing Eva as soon as she saw her standing there in a maze .
“What the hell are you still doing here? You good for nothing woman! Bring a bowl of water and wash my feet!” she said her voice authoritative.
Then she walked past Eva and went to her son with a dotting expression on her aging face.
Holding her son’s hand she said.
“Why did you drink too much alcohol? Dear, it’s not good for your health, especially now that you are soon becoming a father.” she continued.
” Don’t forget you put too much effort into making Marklyn’s daughter pregnant, so don’t waste your life drinking son!” she said with a warm smile in face.
She was so eager to have a grandchild from Charles but the due time was still too far, all she hoped was to have a grandson only then can she get possession over Marklyn’s wealth, since he has only one child hence the grandson would be the next heir.
The main reason why jasmine decided to keep Eva for a mean time was to do chores and if Charle’s baby is born, then there wouldnt be any need hiring a nanny when when Eva was around.
“Look at this useless woman! Infact, don’t even wash my feets again! Am already used to your uselessnes!” Jasmine scoffed.
“We’re getting divorced tomorrow, dont forget that!” Charles blantly said, while sitted on the bed.
With tears rolling down her withered chins, Eva’s heart felt like it was being torn into a thousand pieces, for all her hard work, both at home and at the company was a waste for the paste five years.
All she hoped for was to gain appreciation in the eyes of her hunsband and family but in return, all she got was a divorce request.
Jasmine glared at her son with an expression of satifaction, in support of his decision to divorce Eva.
“This is the best decision ever! Its a high time she goes back to the gutters where she belongs! She definitely doesn’t belong here! Besides, am expecting a grandson from Marklyn’s daughter Lucy, with this thing here, it would tarnish our reputation in the society.” Jasmine paused, the glared at her son.
“Am so tired! Charles, can you please walk me to my room, l need rest, l feel disgusting looking at this wretched woman infront of me.”
Charles stood up and went to help his mother Jasmine, then coldly glared towards poor Eva and sneered.
“why are you still standing here like a dump statue?! Or are you going to remain and be my and lucy’s nanny for our unborn child?” He said
At that moment, Eva’s eyes turned bloodshot, tears rolled down her chins.
In a split moment, humilation, anger, and myraid of negativity overwhelmed Eva’s mind.
All she thrived hard to gain for the past five years was now meaningless in the eyes of the Hudsons.
All her important documents inculding the ID was trashed in the gabbage.
Searching for where to begin from, Eva was so devastated and stranded, with no roof over her head, and all her earnings at the company where always handed to her husband and some times mother in-law .
Eva was no different from the wild homeless dogs in the street.
In that dark tensed atmosphere, Eva slowly treked down the street, her mind a cloud of thoughts and found herself at the public park, the cold air of the night made her forget her problems.
Atleast for a while.
Sitting down at the same bench that Mr Morgan used to bring her, her expression pitiful yet not a single tears dropped.
She didnt know whether to feel angry, dispair, disappointment or cry.
She looked at the cool quite atmosphere of the park, slowly rubbed the bench with her slender fingers, reminecing how Morgan loved and treated her much like his grand daugther than a grand daughter in-law when he was still alive.
After being kicked out of the house, Eva didnt have the courage to pay her last vist to Morgan’s cementery, rather she prefered going to the park where both spent alot of time together.
“ Thank you for protecting me when you where still alive.” she said her slinder fingers gently rubbing the the cold metals of the bench.
“Am divorcing your grand son tomorrow….
“Am sorry, i failed to live to your expectation…”
Eva’s eyes turned bloodshot and watery, she cried while expressing the bitterness and sadness that can’t be put in words from her heart.
After lamenting, with a deep gasp, she pulled herself together and picked up her fallen necklace from, the gound, then sat blankly on the ground leaning at the bench.
Flabbergastedly, Eva didnt know what to do and all she could think of at that time was to stare at the dark bright shiny stars in the clouds that semed to give her some kinda peace.
The night sky glimered like a apainting, beautiful and ful of colour against the inky black vast abyss.
The colours of the sky swirled like a tornado in amongst the explosion of colours, the stars twinkled like diamonds, flashing as if they were trying to get her to notice them.
For the first time, she felt relaxed and enjoyed the cold breeze with her eyes closed.
Unbeknownst to Eva, her necklace seemed to produce a bright shiny aurora light emerging from the pendant , but she didnt realize.
Pulling herself together, she stood up and left the park, with only one sentence ringing in her mind,
“Where there’s life, there’s hope.’ that kept pushing, atleast for the night…
As she was leaving she had a glimpse of a devilishly stunning handsome young man dresssed in a professional attires, he seemed to come from a high class family .
He had this damn attractive stunning figure.
So curious why someone like him would be doing at the lonely park in the middle of the night instead of taking a nap in his maybe luxious lavish bed as she imagined.
While over staring at the stranger, there eyes awkwardly met, that made him utter an inaproprate word,
“You broke mother fucker!
”
“such a rude arrogant bastard!” she sneered
“How dare you glare at me?” he rudely yelled, his voice filled with arrogance.
” And how did you know that I was glaring at you?!”
