They all stoped for a moment, staring at the elderly lady Infront of them.
She was in her prime fifties, and she was the same lady that welcomed Eva the first day she arrived at the godforsaken mansion.
She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep gasp before telling Eva the truth, the truth about Alphab and her clan of vampires.
Years ago, the Alphab was just like any other vampire around now, and by that time Amelia’s father was the right hand of the late vampire king, that meant that even maria grew up in that very mansion .
Driven by curiosity, they paid more attention to Amelia, but Eva wasn’t sure whether to trust her.
“Why must we believe you?
” Eva asked
“You have to trust me Eva!
Only I can help you both, otherwise, you won’t make it out alive.” She replied.
“Alright, then tell us, what happened ? What changed him?”
A heavy sigh escaped through Amelia’s lips as she recalled the past,
It happened that decades ago, Alphab lived with his parents , at that time he was only seventeen years, when a terrible tragedy befall his clan, it become a night of chores and bloodshed, every where was littered with dead bodies.
That was the night the wolf clan attacked the vampire clan, Alphab’s mother and father kicked the bucket on that night while trying to protect their kinsmen from the cruelty of the wolves, and that also marked the end of alphab’s father’s reign.
Amelia had to hide with few vampire survivers and Alphab, he watch silently as his parents were being slaughtered.
“The curse? What was that?” Eva curious asked.
Amelia’s voice was filled with sorrow as she continued…
After grieving, Alphab wanted to avenge his parents and protect his little sister who was just few weeks old, he seemed help from the clan wizard.
He was so blinded by hatred that he failed to see right through the wizards lies and evil intension.
He had only one wish , power…..
And yes, his wished was granted, but something else was taken from him, his heart!
At seventeen, he lost his emotions and become known and a cold vampire king.
And that secret become the forbidden secret, no one was allowed to every day it, and besides, only few people knew about it and swore never to let their kinsmen know it.
Maria was risking her life by telling them this story.
A flicker of worry crossed her face as she continued.
” The curse consumed both his mind and heart making it frozen , hard like a stone, rendering him heartless and all his mind knew was hatred, as so was it a punishment from the darkness that dwelled in his soul and mind, reminding him of the price he paid for vengeance..”
Well they now knew the vampire kongs past, but what about the present, why does he need an heir so badly?
Amelia’s eyes flickered as her voice depicted a spirit of hesitation, and secrecy.
But any way she knew they won’t stop till all questions are answered m
Alphab needs an heir to break from the curse he brought upon himself, ones he gets a child, during the blood moon, the curse will be transfered to the child through a certain ritual.
” What?!” They exclaimed in unison.
Eva’s eyes widen , knowing that if she carries a child , and if it happens to be a son , a curse a waits for him.
But what baffled her most is why Alphab choose her and not anybody else.
“Could he …could he be knowing my real identity?
She thought as everything seemed a dream yet in reality.
Alphab for all his life has been trying to break the wizard’s curse, but all in vine, till he remembered , once he gets a son who is as strong as him, he can transfer his curse to him, only then will he be free from the curse.
A child has to come from his blood line, and that’s why Kevins is the best option, running through his vines is Alphab’s blood.
“I will not stand by and watch my son become a monster like Alphab!” he made the deal so he has to surfer for it.
Eva’s voice quivered as pains seeped through it.
Kevins reached out his hands and wrapped around her shoulder , holding her tight as he comforted her .
” Don’t worry Eva, nothing will happen to you and my baby, l will protect you with the last drop of my blood.” He said
So if you want them leave, l will help you.” Maria whispered, but then something crossed Eva’s mind that she had to ask .
” Why do you risk your life helping us?
Ain’t you afraid that we will expose your clan to humans?
And of course you know what will happen!”
Slowly she moved confidently towards her, leaning her head with Eva’s, to her ears, Maria whispered.
“Then even you will be in trouble.” she pulled herself back, “I’ve got your back, if you need help.”
Eva was left baffled with Amelia’s words,
“Does she know that, am…..
No it can’t be!
We just met,” she thought .”but if she knows, then Alphab knows too!”
For a moment she got scared, what to do, she didn’t know.
Whether to trust her instincts or not.
As she walks, flash back of Amelia’s words kept echoing in her mind .
” The curse will be transferred, it’s inevitable!’ The more it recurred the more she’s terrified.
Definitely, she didn’t want her child yo fall a victim of that damn curse.
The following day, as the sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, Eva was busy gathering her already packed belongings, waiting for the night to darken, at the moment all she could do was to distance herself from Alphab , knowing Amelia would be waiting for them.
She rotated her glance around the round, making sure that she wouldn’t forget any of her belongings before her gaze fell on an old framed photography of her an the late Morgan Hudson.
She clutched it tightly in her hand.
“I wish you were here with me sir…I miss you so much..” she whispered tears rolling down her chins.
Suddenly, a low echo emerged from the door, she opened and he was standing there.
“It’s time.” He whispered.
