She took them to a secret backdoor.

That side was known to few people, and less guarded.

Eva took few steps forward and realized Kevin wasn’t following her.

Stoping on her track, she turned .

“You’re not coming?” She asked.

Kevin nodded.

“You go first, I will join you later, I promise.”

He took a deep gasp

“I prepared that place especially for us, nobody else knows it , not even Alphab.” He assured.

He passed a piece of paper to Eva, she gave it a single glaze and said.

“What about your promise?”

Maria approached Eva, and embraced her and whispered to her ears.

” It’s not time for questions, just don’t wolf out, otherwise they will easily track your scent!”

Eva’s gaze widen, that was her secret, no one else knows about it, so how comes?

“Who are you?

How do you know my identity?

And how did you know am with a child?

Maria gave a faint smile.

“Be careful, you’re the last of you kind!!”

Her speech proved that she knew Eva even before coming into the Mansion, but the clock was ticking and it was time for her to ran before Alphab is alerted.

Maria touched her cheeks, her watery eyes couldn’t stop the tears.

“My dear, your just like your mother. ”

Eva’s eyes widen, adrenaline spiked, curiosity rose, now she didn’t scare about her self but wanted to know what maria meant, did she know her mother before?

What happened to her?.

“Listen, my dear, I know you have a lot of questions, but I can’t answer them now. You have to go before it’s too late.” She said.

“Your clan and ours lived peacefully, untill one day, when your clan decided to wage war against us and killed the late vampire king and queen, Alphab’s parents, you….”

“The guards! You have to go!! Now!” Kevin interrupted.

Tears wailed down her chins and she ran, her heart racing with anticipation and fear, yet her determination was to protect the unborn child.

Eva hoped that she would successfully hide the pregnancy from everyone, yet she was worried, if Maria got to know, that means anyone else would have also known about it.

” Anyways she won’t tell Alphab” she thought confidently.

but her worries was still behind on her loved one and Maria who betrayed the vampire king just to protect her and her unborn child.

For a moment, she felt some relief.

She was nolonger in a life of disparw and captivity.

The next morning, as usual, Alphab went to the dinning room, he had expected Eva to be sitting there, Instead, the seat was empty.

The air felt stagnant, empty.

News reached him within minutes, Eva’s room was vacant.

A sound, somewhere between a roar and a growl, ripped from his throat.

Alphab’s hand connected with the mahogany table, snapping the thick wood effortlessly before he stormed toward the guards’ quarters, his red radiation radiating fury, fangs emerging from his upper jaw, his heart pacing with a chaotic rhythm that belonged to a monster, not a man.

“How dare she!!” He roared.

The air crackled with tension as he confronted them, causing them to bow their heads in terrified silence, waiting for the scenes to unfold before them.

Amidst the fear, Maria stood firm.

She stood steady even in the face of Alphab’s wrath, a stark contrast to the cowering guards.

“Where’s she?” Alphab roared, his voice echoing with demonic undertones.

Fear filled Maria’s eyes, yet she held her ground.

“Alphab, we can find another way to break the curse, please!” She pleaded.

“Don’t do this to an innocent baby. And as you can see, you’re not the only one suffering from it. All the vampires are. So why bring another to this dark world to suffer!” She spoke with immense confidence, her courage a desperate shield.

She was so sure she would not survive this, but in her heart, Maria knew that saving Eva and the unborn child was worth becoming Alphab’s latest victim

But why?

Why is she doing all this?…

Whatever….,

Alphab stepped closer, his towering presence intimidating.

The hamming of his footsteps bought shiver in everyone’s eyes.

“How dare you talk to me in that manner?”

One a second thought, he remembered Maria talked about Eva and the baby.

Alphab froze for seconds.

Approaching Maria he hissed.

“So she’s pregnant…. Right?”

He gleed for a moment, then his eyes hardened, eyebrows furrowed while the nostrils flared, then his fangs emerged from his upper jaws yearning for blood.

“And…and you helped her escape? You traitor!” He paused , rubbing his temple.

“But why did you betray me?” He growled with so much disappointment on his face.

“Why the hell did you batray me Maria? I trusted you more than anyone else around me!!”

Without hesitation, Alphab’s hands shot out gripping Maria’s throat, his voice like a grip as he raised his head up and his fangs penetrated Maria’s neck.

Her eyes widen in fear, but she wasn’t shocked, she already knew her fate the very moment she decided to battery him.

She gave a faint smile, then whispered with her last breath.

“The child is innocent! Please don’t harm him. That’s my last wish Alphab! A mother’s last wish to her child!!”

The whole room froze, his dominance radiated in the air.

“You can never be like my mother….” He growled bitterly, ” she would never betray her son!!”

Maria smiled at him, not with anger and pain, but with love in her eyes..

and said.

“Please fulfill my last wish s–on!”
