Miyako had a dream.
Special Skill [Clairvoyance] — its manifestation: a prophetic dream.
Ah. Today, it looks like it’s going to be a very good day.
When she woke up, she found herself in a world of muscle pain.
“Owwwwww…”
Miyako groaned in bed.
Though she was nineteen, Miyako was out of shape, and a full day of gardening work had been tough on her.
The fact that she could still move at all was a problem in itself. Terrifying, the resilience of a nineteen-year-old.
Her legs were trembling. Super painful.
“Ugh, breakfast, breakfast…”
Thinking she’d prepare breakfast before Fuuka woke up, she literally crawled her way to the kitchen.
Then.
“You’re late, Miyako.”
“Huh? Fuuka-chan!?”
Standing in the kitchen, stirring a pot, was Fuuka, wearing a dress with an apron over it.
She’d even politely tied a triangular kerchief over her head. The very picture of a home economics look. Cute, to put it mildly.
“Wow~ so cute, Fuuka-chan! But are you okay not having slept yet?”
“To oversleep two days in a row would bring shame upon the Hamilton family!”
“Ehehe~, I’m looking forward to Fuuka-chan’s soup.”
Forgetting her muscle pain for a moment, she sat at the table, and soon a steaming bowl of soup was placed before her.
“I made this myself. You should eat it gratefully!”
“Mm-hm, thank you for the meal!”
She scooped up a spoonful and brought it to her mouth.
“…………”
“…………”
It had no flavor. None at all. It was tasteless.
The only ingredient in the soup was potatoes.
Ah, I see. She probably didn’t add any vegetables or seasonings that would release umami.
“I-I was just a little off my game today.”
“No… Fuuka-chan, it’s delicious.”
“Hmph! There aren’t even any cookbooks here, you know.”
“Next time, let’s go to the village lending library or something.”
Fuuka was the daughter of the Hamilton earl family.
She’d probably never cooked a meal in her life before.
That’s why Miyako was happy that she’d taken time out of her morning to try her hand at cooking for her.
And the way she puffed out her cheeks but still properly finished the tasteless soup. Miyako loved that too.
And also.
“This flower arrangement is lovely.”
“Hmph, it’s a young lady’s accomplishment.”
“I see. That makes me happy.”
On the table was a small vase.
In it was arranged the rose Miyako had given Fuuka in the carriage.
Somehow, that made her incredibly happy, and Miyako drank down the tasteless soup with a smile on her face.
“Oh, right, Fuuka-chan. Let’s go to the bath in the afternoon.”
“…I want to wash off this sweat sooner rather than later.”
Blowing on the after-meal tea Fuuka had made (this was really delicious!), Miyako spoke.
Fuuka protested, looking dissatisfied.
“Well, you see, this is something I saw with my [Clairvoyance]…”
Miyako lowered her voice to a whisper.
Fuuka gulped audibly. A foresight from clairvoyance. Just what could it be?
“Today around noon, a traveling merchant is coming~~~!!! Yaa-hoo~~~!!!”
“I was a fool to listen so seriously.”
“Huh!? This is important, I’m totally serious! I mean, it’s not great having only preserved food, right? We can restock on ingredients!”
“Food is food, it’s all the same. In a rural place like this, there won’t be any pies or cakes, will there?”
“It’s not the same! The food from the Attica region is delicious!”
“…Hmph. If you say so, I’ll leave it to you.”
Fuuka let out a sigh.
Considering this morning’s tasteless soup, it seemed better to leave meal-related matters to Miyako.
It was a far cry from the earl’s mansion in the royal capital, where she could eat whatever she wanted.
Was Miyako’s declaration that she would “make her happy” just empty boasting?
“Okay. Then, Fuuka-chan, I’m going to get some work done!”
“Huh? But the garden was finished yesterday, wasn’t it?”
“Well, you see, this land is farmland owned by my family home, which lost its caretaker. I borrowed it because it was just right for a hideout, but since we’re here, I thought we might as well take care of it.”
And so.
“Today… I’m going to do some weeding in the field!”
To get straight to the point.
Weeding with muscle pain was a bad idea.
“Owwwwww—my legs, my legs are gonna fall off!”
Every time she bent over, sharp pain shot through her legs and lower back.
It had been an hour since she started, but she hadn’t even cleared one-tenth of the small field.
“Ahaha, my legs are killin’ me!”
Woe is me, Miyako wiped her sweat. The stray hairs from her braided chestnut-brown hair stuck to her neck with sweat.
Fuuka, who had been sitting on a chair placed under the shaded eaves, watching intently, seemed to have gotten bored, as she’d disappeared a while ago.
Today was the second day.
It was only the second day, that was true. But considering the two-week. 14-day deadline, you could also say it was “already the second day.”
“Hmm. Maybe I messed up.”
As she grumbled.
A clear voice rang out.
“Honestly, I can’t bear to watch any longer!”
“…Fuuka-chan!”
Looking up, she saw standing there.
Fuuka, wearing work clothes that Miyako had prepared to match her own.
A camel-colored overall over a checkered shirt.
Her glossy black hair was tied up in a ponytail.
So cute!!!
“Yah-hooo!!!”
“Wai—please don’t hug me at full force!? You’re getting dirt—”
“It’s fine since you’re not in a dress!”
“More importantly, what about your muscle pain!? Just when I was going to help you out.”
“Ehehe, it flew away when I saw Fuuka-chan! Thanks for helping me. You’re so kind.”
“Th-that’s!” Fuuka stammered.
Mumbling if you summed up what she said,
“It’s just that you looked like you were having so much fun weeding so clumsily, Miyako!”
That’s what it amounted to.
“Now then, let’s get this cleaned up quickly!”
“Mm-hm!”
By the time the sun was directly overhead, signaling noon.
The weeding in the small field was mostly done.
Now, for lunch.
Soon, the traveling merchant would arrive.
