[Holy crap! Holy crap! My jaw just dropped! This little girl isn’t the amateur child they originally booked?!]
[So they filmed the wrong kid? The production team got the wrong person?!]
[Very possible… A five-year-old girl with a similar build, and with her face all dirty like that, they really could’ve mistaken her…]
[Sisters, that’s not even the important part! Do you remember what she just said? She said she was stolen by a fake mom… and that she escaped after running away for a long time. No wonder she’s so dirty! This is a trafficked child!]
[Oh my god! I admit I spoke too loudly earlier! Little sister, I’m sorry, I even said you were dirty just now… I deserve a slap! Ahhh! Human traffickers should die!]
The livestream instantly exploded into chaos.
Viewers and fans who had been watching the split-screen feeds of the other celebrity families all rushed into Wen Chengxi’s channel after hearing the news.
The variety show, which had already climbed several trending searches right after premiering, shot to the top of the trending list once again.
For a moment, the channel lagged from the overwhelming traffic.
[I heard the production team filmed the wrong person and accidentally captured a trafficked child?]
[Is this real or fake? Could it be scripted?]
[If this is scripted, then using a child for attention is disgusting. Hope the show gets canceled! If it’s real, I hope the baby finds her biological parents soon!]
The production crew had never expected such an accident.
The show already had plenty of attention, but this incident completely ignited the internet.
Yet while the comments continued flooding the screen, the livestream suddenly went black.
The feed was cut off.
The audience only had time to hear the director shout—
“Call the police, now!”
Then even the audio was cut.
Wen Chengxi’s channel went completely dark.
The livestream viewers were utterly confused.
The production team had called the police?
Could it actually be real?
Meanwhile, the livestreams for the other celebrity family groups continued as normal.
So viewers flooded into those channels instead, frantically asking in the comments whether this was the production team stirring up hype or something that had genuinely happened.
But the celebrity family groups had started filming from the moment they left home.
They were all still on the road going through the planned filming process and had no idea what was happening.
The reason the amateur child’s filming started from the gathering location was to build anticipation for Wen Chengxi, the “intern dad,” meeting his “daughter” for the first time.
After all, they were not a real father and daughter pair, just temporary partners.
The huge flood of comments also caused confused viewers, who had no idea what was going on, to start spamming question marks too.
Very soon, clips from the livestream recording appeared on trending lists across every major platform.
That included the conversation between Wen Chengxi and the director, as well as the director’s desperate shout before the livestream completely blacked out—
“Call the police, now!”
Countless netizens anxiously waited for the truth.
Meanwhile, at the filming site of Happy Family Trip.
The directing team, camera crew, and all the staff members sat gathered around Niannian.
Her little face had already been carefully cleaned with wet wipes.
A pretty older sister had even given her water to drink, and Niannian finally no longer felt thirsty.
She sat obediently on a small stool, eating a little bread roll.
After every bite, she thanked the people around her.
“So yummy! It’s really, really yummy! Thank you, big brother! Thank you, big sister! Thank you, uncle! Thank you, auntie…”
After another bite, Niannian narrowed her eyes happily in satisfaction.
“Niannian has never eaten anything this delicious before! It’s really so yummy! Thank you, big brother! Thank you, big sister…”
She was already very thin, making her eyes appear especially large and dark. Now that her little face had been cleaned, her delicate and refined features became even more obvious.
Beautiful children always made people want to look at them a few more times.
Unfortunately, Niannian’s skin was somewhat yellowish, the result of long-term malnutrition, which only made people feel even more heartbroken for her.
The directing team responded kindly to Niannian’s endless thanks while carefully trying to ask about her family situation.
Niannian answered every question obediently.
“Daddy and Mommy are getting divorced.”
“They both don’t want Niannian anymore.”
“Mommy said she isn’t my mommy.”
“Daddy said Mommy stole someone.”
At this point, Niannian pointed brightly at herself.
“Mommy stole a little person! She stole Niannian!”
The director fell silent.
The other staff members exchanged glances.
Oh dear, what a pitiful little baby. None of them had the heart to explain to her that the “stealing someone” her father mentioned did not mean stealing her, a “little person.” It probably meant her mother had cheated on him.
Which meant her mother, because she wanted a divorce, did not want to keep dragging around a burden like her.
And her father thought she was someone else’s child, so he did not want her either.
As for the “real mommy” and “fake mommy” business, it was simply the child’s innocent misunderstanding.
They had actually thought the little girl had encountered human traffickers.
The director sighed.
“We’ll wait until the police arrive.”
No matter what, a missing child had to be handled by the police.
The police arrived quickly.
And arriving together with them was Wen Chengxi.
To avoid affecting Niannian, after the other celebrity family groups arrived, they were all sent elsewhere to continue filming.
When Wen Chengxi learned that the camera crew had filmed the wrong little girl—and that she might even be a trafficked child—he was stunned too.
