The “True and False Young Masters” drama had been the talk of the town lately. Because Qi Zhi was a “campus idol” with a bit of a reputation, busybodies had started a thread on the school forum as soon as the news broke. The students were well aware of the situation; hearing Qi Ran’s words now, they all turned their gazes toward Qi Zhi.
“Is that so? Did I trip you?” Qi Zhi sat on the ground, looking up at Qi Ran as if watching a clown jumping through hoops.
It had been two weeks since the truth was made public. This wasn’t the first time; he had grown used to it.
“Qi Zhi, are you sick or something?”
The clown didn’t speak, but his friend, Zhang Dong, stepped forward. “If it weren’t for Ah Ran, your gambler of a biological father would have sucked you dry by now. And yet you purposely trip him? Do you even have a conscience?”
Zhang Dong was Qi Ran’s best friend and had always been fiercely protective.
“What’s going on?” A tall, handsome guy wearing a blue basketball jersey pushed through the crowd. It was Qi Zhennan.
Qi Zhennan walked over to Qi Ran, half-kneeling to check his leg. A large bruise had formed on the knee, and the skin was scraped raw in the worst spots.
“It’s not too serious. I’ll take you to the infirmary,” he said, without spared a single glance for Qi Zhi.
“But Qi Zhi…”
Leaning on Qi Zhennan for support as he stood, Qi Ran looked at Qi Zhi and said gently, “Are you hurt? Let’s go to the infirmary together. Dongdong, help Qi Zhi up.”
“He tripped you and he’s the one who fell?” Zhang Dong snorted. “What’s the point of acting now? A fake is a fake; they can never stay dignified for long.”
Despite his words, he reached out to pull Qi Zhi up.
“Don’t touch me.” Enduring the piercing pain in his ankle, Qi Zhi stood up and brushed him away.
“Stop making a scene,” Qi Zhennan finally looked at Qi Zhi, his voice laced with impatience. “Haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough? If you aren’t hurt, finish your fitness test.”
“I…”
For a split second, Qi Zhi wanted to explain. He wanted to show Qi Zhennan his injured ankle.
But when he met those impatient eyes, the words died in his throat. It wasn’t the first time; even if he spoke, Qi Zhennan wouldn’t believe him. He would only take Qi Ran’s side. Why subject himself to more humiliation?
Seeing that Qi Zhi had nothing to say, Qi Zhennan supported Qi Ran and walked away without looking back. Zhang Dong made a face at Qi Zhi and followed them.
As the drama ended, the other students dispersed. No doubt, new comments were already flooding the “True and False Young Masters” thread on the school forum.
“The Fake Master is unwilling to lose everything, uses every trick to retaliate against the kind and generous Real Master.”
“Forgets he’s a common sparrow after a few days of being a phoenix is this a twist of human nature or a total moral collapse?”
The headlines would probably look something like that.
“Heh.”
Lowering his head, Qi Zhi’s eyes grew red with a bitter smile. He didn’t understand how his life had turned into this. He hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Do you need help?”
Just as Qi Zhi was drowning in his misery, a stranger’s voice drifted into his ear. He looked up to see an exceptionally handsome young man.
The man appeared to be between a youth and a young adult, perhaps nineteen years old.
He was very tall, a full head taller than the 1.78-meter Qi Zhi, likely around 1.9 meters. He had a commanding stature, dressed in a black shirt and black casual trousers, with limited-edition sneakers that gave off an air of immense wealth.
Most striking of all, he had heterochromatic eyes one blue and one black.
Heterochromia?
Qi Zhi froze, his gaze involuntarily locking with the man’s. Then, he watched in shock as the handsome stranger’s face transformed into Qi Zhennan’s. The man reached out a hand toward him.
“Xiao Zhi, let me take you to the infirmary.”
