Qu Mou and Wang Qiuyu’s faces darkened completely. Qu Xiao was truly becoming more lawless and arrogant by the day.
Qu Bai stood up with a cold expression. “Elder brother, you’re going too far. Even if you refuse to acknowledge my mother, she is still your elder.”
Qu Xiao looked at him coldly. “Don’t call me brother either. My mother only gave birth to me. Besides, you can treat her like an ancestor for all I care, but don’t call her my elder—she doesn’t deserve it.”
Qu Bai’s face turned completely grim. Qu Xiao humiliating him was one thing, but to insult his mother like this? He would make sure Qu Xiao regretted his actions today sooner or later.
“Enough!” Old Master Qu shouted. “I’m not dead yet. Do any of you still have any respect for me?”
Qu Xiao didn’t even glance at him, speaking coldly instead. “Why did you call me here?”
The old man frowned at him, his expression darkening completely. “Can’t I even ask you back for a meal?”
Qu Xiao sneered. “A meal? Can any of you actually swallow your food while looking at me?”
Old Master Qu remained silent. Qu Xiao turned to leave with Gu Yan and Liang Yueran.
“Xiao Xiao, do you want your mother’s bones and ashes scattered? The old master’s calm question made Qu Xiao’s face turn completely gloomy.
He turned to look at Old Master Qu, not bothering to conceal the murderous intent in his eyes.
Old Master Qu was shaken by his gaze, but he knew that as long as he held his mother’s ashes, Qu Xiao wouldn’t act recklessly.
Yet he also understood that with a madman like him, the same threat wouldn’t work more than a few times.
He rose from the sofa. “Alright, everyone’s here. Let’s eat.”
With that, he headed toward the dining room. Qu Mou, Wang Qiuyu, and Qu Bai followed.
Even Qu Ting, with his prosthetic leg, went along, though he couldn’t hide the hatred in his eyes when he looked at Qu Xiao.
The first thing Qu Xiao did upon returning to the Qu Family was break Qu Ting’s leg, and crucially, they could do nothing about it.
They had thought that abandoning a six or seven-year-old child alone in a foreign land would lead to his quick demise.
Who would have thought he’d not only survive but thrive out there? If The Qu Corporation hadn’t been on the verge of collapse, they would never have brought him back.
Qu Ting’s gaze grew increasingly venomous. Sooner or later, he would make Qu Xiao taste the agony of a broken leg too.
Gu Yan, witnessing all of this, felt deeply unsettled. She whispered quietly in his ear,
“It’s alright, Uncle Qu. I’ll always stay by your side from now on.”
Having been cherished and pampered by her family since childhood, she couldn’t comprehend why Qu Mou would hate his own son, but she resolved to remain with him always.
Qu Xiao smiled and nodded at her. Having her by his side was enough.
He quietly instructed Gu Yan and Liang Yueran to eat only whatever he ate.
When he led Gu Yan and Liang Yueran to the dining table and sat down, the servants began bringing out the dishes one after another.
Seeing that all the dishes were served, Old Master Qu said, “Let’s begin.”
“Wait.”
Just as everyone was about to pick up their chopsticks, Qu Xiao’s voice rang out.
Qu Ting looked at him impatiently. “Qu Xiao, don’t push your luck.”
Qu Xiao let out a cold laugh as he looked at him. “Third Uncle, has it been so long that you’ve forgotten the pain of your broken leg? I don’t mind helping you remember it again.”
Qu Ting could still vaguely feel the piercing pain from that leg and said nothing more.
Old Master Qu set down his chopsticks and looked at him. “What do you want to say?”
Qu Xiao met his gaze directly, unflinching. “No one should touch their chopsticks until everyone has arrived. Isn’t that what you taught me and my mother back then? How come you’ve forgotten it yourself?”
Old Master Qu frowned and glanced at the people around the dining table. Not only was everyone present, there were two extra people.
Qu Mou looked at him impatiently. “Isn’t everyone here? Who’s missing?”
“My second uncle, Qu Feng.”
In an instant, the expressions of everyone in the Qu Family changed.
Qu Mou slammed his hand on the table. “Your second uncle has gone mad, don’t you know that? If you don’t want to eat, then get out.”
Qu Xiao didn’t even glance at him, looking directly at Old Master Qu instead. “Where is my second uncle?”
Old Master Qu was also reaching his limit, but thinking of the request he needed to make later, he held back. “His madness has gotten worse over the years. I’ve had him confined to the backyard.”
Qu Xiao looked at him with cold mockery. “You really are a wonderful father.”
“Yu Yang, go bring my second uncle here for the meal. If anyone dares to stop you, deal with them as usual. I’ll take responsibility.”
“Yes.”
Yu Yang took those two men to the backyard, handing Qu Xiao his gun before leaving.
Qu Xiao toyed with the gun in his hand, and for a moment, no one dared to speak.
Soon, Yu Yang brought in a filthy, disoriented man.
His body had begun to stink from long periods without bathing, his hair and beard grown long and unkempt.
If not for the tattered short-sleeved shirt and shorts he wore, one might mistake him for a wild man from the mountains.
Seeing how Qu Feng had been tortured into this state, Qu Xiao slammed the gun in his hand hard onto the table.
His eyes narrowed dangerously, like a tiger in the jungle preparing to strike its prey.
Wang Qiuyu was terrified, her face pale as she clung tightly to Qu Mou’s arm.
Qu Xiao was a madman—no one knew what insane thing he might do next.
Qu Xiao stood up and walked over to Qu Feng’s side. “Second Uncle, it’s Qu Xiao.”
If there was anyone in the Qu Family he still respected, it was probably only his second uncle.
Qu Feng looked at Qu Xiao and grinned foolishly, as if he had no idea what was being said.
Seeing his trembling body, Qu Xiao took off the overcoat he was wearing and draped it over him.
Witnessing this, Qu Mou sneered. “How filial. One might think you were his son. But then again, maybe you are—the bastard your mother had with him.”
Qu Xiao’s eyes sharpened. He picked up the gun he had just handed to Yu Yang, loaded a bullet, and aimed it directly at Qu Mou.
Instantly, the atmosphere froze.
Qu Mou broke out in a cold sweat—the gun pointed at him was loaded.
If it were anyone else, he would have thought they wouldn’t dare to pull the trigger. But this was Qu Xiao. Qu Mou didn’t dare to gamble, because he was a madman.
Old Master Qu and Qu Bai both stood up. Qu Bai stepped directly in front of Qu Mou, shielding him from the gun’s muzzle.
“Xiao Bai.”
Qu Mou and Wang Qiuyu cried out simultaneously, both wanting to pull him over.
Qu Bai, however, smiled faintly and said without a trace of fear, “Dad, Mom, don’t worry. Big Brother is just joking with me.”
“Joking?” Qu Xiao sneered coldly, his finger beginning to squeeze the trigger.
