Dad didn’t say goodbye to Mom, and Mom seemed completely accustomed to it. The relationship between the two reminded Little Pi Xiu of a cold joke.

A rare steak meets a medium-rare steak. Why don’t they greet each other?

Through the little cub’s memories, Bai Li knew that the cub really hoped Dad and Mom could live together. That way, the cub could see Dad often, and even if she got bullied, Dad would stand up for her.Full novel: The Little Pixiu Falls into a 70s Military Compound and is Spoiled by the Whole Army — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If Dad and Mom continued like this, wouldn’t they end up getting divorced?

That wouldn’t do. What the little cub wanted most was for Dad and Mom to stay with her. Little Pi Xiu had to find a way to make Dad and Mom live together and slowly nurture their feelings.

Little Pi Xiu needed to use its brain. True Sorrow Beast.

“Dad, are you coming home today? Li Li misses Dad so much!”

This was what the little cub wanted to say to Bai Dingting but never did. The little cub had always missed Dad and hoped he would come home often, especially when her cousin bullied her.

The little cub wondered in her heart: if Dad came home often, would her cousin stop bullying her?

Even though the little cub was no longer here, Little Pi Xiu could help her say it and, in the process, get Dad to come home and nurture his feelings with Mom.

Hearing his daughter’s question, Bai Dingting paused in his steps. Thinking about how he owed the success of this mission to his daughter—completing it in less than a day—he could take half a day off. He turned around, looked down at Bai Li, and said, “Li Li, be good. Dad will go back to submit the mission report, then come home.”

Bai Li’s eyes lit up. “Promise? Dad can’t lie to Li Li!”

Bai Dingting nodded. “Mm!”

Bai Li beamed, happily waving her little hand. “Bye, Dad! Hurry and submit the report, then come back quickly.”

After his regiment commander left the room, Liang Junping also reached out and gently patted Bai Li’s cheek, smiling as he said, “Li Li, Uncle Ping is leaving now. Sister-in-law, I’ll have a young soldier follow you and Regimental Commander Yu back to take your statement.”

I really wish I had a daughter as adorable as Li Li.

Bai Li: Uncle Ping, you don’t even have a wife yet. It’s too early to be dreaming!

Seeing that everyone had left, Yu Lixia held Bai Li and looked at Yu Yingyi, her face full of apology. “Brother, why did you come?”

Yu Yingyi looked at his calm yet guilty younger sister, a slight smile curling at the corners of his mouth, carrying a reassuring tone. “You and Li Li have been out for over two hours without returning. The family was worried, so we went to the supply and marketing cooperative to ask. When we found out you hadn’t gone there, Mom and Dad grew anxious about you and Li Li. So, I brought a few people out to look for you.”

“We happened to run into your husband at the entrance of the alley, so we came to find you.”

“Li Li, you have a wound on your forehead. How about Uncle and Mom take you to the hospital?”

Finally, Yu Yingyi gently asked Bai Li.

At that moment, Bai Li was secretly examining Yu Yingyi’s leg. The healing condition… wasn’t very good.

Suddenly hearing Yu Yingyi say he wanted to take her to see a doctor, she immediately clung to Yu Lixia like an octopus, shaking her head like a rattle drum. “No hospital! Li Li doesn’t hurt. Li Li wants to go home and wait for Dad.”

With Little Pi Xiu here, the little cub’s body was fine. If not for worrying that the sudden disappearance of the wound on the little cub’s forehead would raise suspicion, no one would even be able to see the injury.

Seeing that Bai Li absolutely refused to go to the hospital, Yu Yingyi and Yu Lixia had no choice but to take the car back to the Yu family home together.

The Yu family’s house was located at the very back of the military compound, a three-story detached house with a yard.

As soon as Yu Lixia, carrying Bai Li in her arms, stepped through the main gate of the Yu residence, she saw her sister-in-law Qin Xiuqiao standing at the entrance of the main hall, constantly looking toward the gate. The moment she spotted the two, Qin Xiuqiao immediately called out toward the inside of the hall, “Lixia and Li Li are back.”

Then, Qin Xiuqiao quickly walked a few steps to Yu Lixia’s side and said with a smile, “It’s good that you’re back. You really gave us all a scare earlier. Just now, Qingqiu came back and said he found you, so Mom and Dad have been sitting in the living room waiting for you to return.”

“Li Li, come to Auntie, okay? Mom must be very tired today after being so frightened.”

Qin Xiuqiao was very good with words, first expressing the Yu family’s concern, then separately voicing her own care for Yu Lixia.

Hearing Qin Xiuqiao’s words and sensing the genuine kindness radiating from her, Bai Li gave Qin Xiuqiao a sweet smile and stretched out her arms, “Auntie, hold me!”

The little girl had delicate features, with almond-shaped eyes that were clear and bright, and her voice was sweet and soft. Qin Xiuqiao’s heart melted, and she quickly took Bai Li from Yu Lixia’s arms, affectionately pressing her cheek against Bai Li’s.

Girls were just so adorable. Her two sons only knew how to annoy her—one always had a cold face, and the other was so foolish it left her speechless.

Yu Lixia followed behind Qin Xiuqiao and Bai Li into the main hall, greeting Yu Jianguo and Shen Qionghua, who were sitting in the center of the living room. “Dad, Mom, Lixia and Li Li are back. I’m sorry for worrying you.”

Shen Qionghua replied with a kind smile, “It’s good that you’re back. Let Li Li’s aunt take her to freshen up first, and you go give your statement.” She hadn’t overlooked the disheveled state of Yu Lixia and Bai Li, but since Yu Lixia needed to give her statement, she had to let her daughter-in-law take her granddaughter to clean up first.

While greeting them, Bai Li took a quick glance at Yu Jianguo and Shen Qionghua and sighed inwardly. On the surface, these two seemed fine, but one had many hidden injuries—a gunshot wound near the heart that left severe chronic issues, and now dangerously high blood pressure; the other had organs deteriorating too rapidly. If it couldn’t be stopped, organ failure would occur in three months, and they would be gone.

Troublesome. This family really had too many problems.

Bai Li couldn’t help but scratch the little tuft of hair sticking up on top of her head.

These two were her mother’s parents. If they died, her mother would surely be heartbroken, right?

Unfortunately, Little Pi Xiu couldn’t retrieve anything from her Companion Space right now. Otherwise, the problems with her grandfather, grandmother, and uncle wouldn’t be issues at all.

No one expected that as soon as Shen Qionghua finished speaking, a sharp girl’s voice suddenly rang out in the hall, “Mom, Aunt and Bai Li are back, so you can’t glare at me anymore!”

Bai Li followed the sound and saw her little cousin Wei Linlang sitting beside Yu Qingqiu, glaring fiercely up at her.

Seeing the indirect culprit behind the harm that had come to the little child, not only showing no remorse for her actions but even blaming the Yu family for scolding her, a surge of anger rose in Bai Li’s heart. She instinctively frowned. She hadn’t even settled accounts with this little brat yet, and she was already acting aggrieved?

But soon, Bai Li noticed that Yu Lixia seemed accustomed to Wei Linlang’s reactions. Apart from frowning, she took no further action—a stark contrast to her earlier response in the cottage when she mistakenly thought Bai Li had been harmed.

This isn’t normal, Bai Li thought to herself.

However, she had only been in this world for half a day. Although she had the memories of the little child, a three-year-old’s recollections were limited. It was better to observe the reactions of the Yu family first.
