Adria pulled her hands away from Cullen’s grip forcefully. Her eyes lit up in unwelcome rage.
She couldn’t believe that he had said those words to her. How could he insult her and in the presence of these workers as well.
She wouldn’t say that she expected any less from him. He was a beast and everyone termed him as so.
Not only had he killed his wife and her mother but he had also married her because he wanted to taunt her and make her carry his damn babies.
But he has another thing coming. He thought that he can break her but he can’t. She won’t let him.
She was only here exclusively because of her father and her people and that won’t change no matter the obstacle he throws her way.
This was only the beginning. He thought that he had her in a tight spot but in real essence, he was basically just wasting his time.
"Welcome to hell, dear wife." He told her in a condescending tone before storming out of the kitchen.
"My Lady, are you okay?" Calla reached out to her but she smiled at her in a reassuring manner.
"I am fine Calla. So much for wanting to have a peaceful breakfast." She discarded the plates with a hurtful smile.
"The Lycan King shouldn’t have done that to you. You’re his Luna and Anya is nothing but a mistress so why would he put her over you?" Calla voiced out her anger and frustrations.
"I simply don’t care who she is to him and I certainly won’t let him get to me so be rest assured that I will be fine. He is the King after all and he can do as he wishes."
"But your breakfast—" Calla pointed at the ruined dishes on the floor.
"Have someone make another one and take it up to my room. I’ll have it later after I’m done with my chores for the day. My husband has turned me into a maid after all." She instructed and Calla nodded her head before rushing off to carry her orders.
Adria started her chores as soon as possible. Folding up her sleeves, she set out to do her job. She cleaned up the kitchen and went further to wash up the laundry.
By the time she was finished, her entire body ached massively. She needed a break but knowing the situation at hand, she knew that she couldn’t afford one just yet.
"Aria?" Someone called out to her. She raised up her eyes to meet the confused ones of Moira who was utterly surprised to see her there.
"Oh Moira." She called out happily. "I could’ve sworn that you weren’t in the mansion today because we haven’t met all morning. I even asked about you but I was told that you might be busy. Good afternoon and how are you?"
"That isn’t exactly the question I was expecting from you. What are you doing here? Why are you doing all this hard work?" She stated with both hands spread widely apart.
"You don’t have to worry about me Moira. I’m okay. It feels so good to do the chores once in a while, don’t you think?"
"But you are the Lycan King’s wife. The Luna of this pack. You’re not allowed to do this—"
"Not even if the King had ordered me to do it himself?" She cut her short and the woman’s eyes widened in shock. Obviously not believing what she had just heard.
"Cullen asked you to do this? Why?"
"It doesn’t matter Moira. What matters is that Cullen had ordered me to do them so I have no choice but to follow his orders."
"You don’t need to worry yourself about the details of how it got here cause trust me, you won’t like it." Adria tried to make her drop the matter but so far, it wasn’t proving successful as she had hoped.
"Get up My Lady, I will help you finish up." She tried to help but I stopped her just in the nick of time before she would get into further troubles herself.
"He has also instructed that no one helps me Moira. If you do then Cullen will take it out on you and it might not end well. I don’t want you both getting into a fight because of me." She explained while the woman looked on.
"I will definitely have a word with him concerning this."
"He can do whatever he wants. Trust me, I’m not complaining at all." She smiled at her.
"Of course you aren’t and why should you in the first place when you have no right to do so?" Adria heard another voice boom from behind and she rolled her eyes when she saw the figure of Anya walking towards them.
"You cannot complain because no matter how much you do, no one, not even the King would listen to them." She clicked her tongue in utter mockery.
"You are just like his late wife. She came here hopeful but still got nothing from this excuse of a marriage." She clicked. "And as sad as it may sound, one day, that will also be your fate."
"This is the Lycan King’s wife, Anya. You must show your respect." Moira cautioned her but she wouldn’t listen.
"Respect?" She laughed mockingly. "If her husband doesnt even respect her then why should I do so in the first place?" She teased and proceeded to laugh out loud.
"He stood up for me, Instead of you and I’m his mistress. With time, you will know your place and learn that the King is mine. I don’t only rule his body but his mind as well."
"I am happy that you realize that you are his mistress Anya. You’re not his wife and no matter how much you yearn for it, you will never become one." I told her in a calm voice.
"I could die today or end up like his late wife and he still won’t choose you. He will marry someone else of his status because you’re only meant to serve him as his mistress and not as a titled Luna."
"And while we’re on the subject of respect; trust me, I do not need your respect because I have absolutely no use for it."
"Also, I have no intention of getting anything from this marriage. I hate the King as much as I hate you so you don’t have to worry because coming between the two of you isn’t my intention at all and that, I can assure you." I bridged the gap between us.
"In fact, while we’re still on this very subject, I have a small favor to ask." I took her hands in mine while she looked at me weirdly. "Please promise me that you will always continue to rule his body and mind."
"Promise me that you will always make sure that he’s obsessed with you to the point where he doesn’t even glance at me or look in my direction."
Adria’s lips stretched into a smile. "If you can promise to keep your master and King under a tight leash then I will bow down to you and even give up my title as his wife because I want nothing to do with it or him."
"Make sure to satisfy him and all his sexual urges so much that he becomes so taken with you that I become utterly useless to him in this marriage." Adria took a step backwards, her smile not faltering.
"Rule over him like you’ve always had even before I got here so that one day, he gets tired of seeing my face and sends me packing. It’s a small favor but I’m certain that only you can do it."
"One last thing, you might as well just suck up this disgusting attitude of trying to talk to me rudely or I will have you reported to the council of elders and let them decide your fate." She threatened and Anya shivered at the threat.
"Your duties should be to your King and only him. I am not a part of it so don’t test me, otherwise I will make sure you regret it and no, I don’t bluff."
Swallowing hard, she ignored Adria and walked away. And to think that she was the one who put her in this mess.
"You handled the situation well My Lady. I am incredibly proud of you. You did well." Moira applauded her.
"Anya has always believed that the Lycan King would come for her. She has always believed that she owns him and no one else but that is not the case. Cullen has no feelings whatsoever for her."
"I know that you would defend him because you love him Moira but I don’t see that man the way you see him and I never will." Adria told her off.
"I meant everything I said to Anya. I hate him and I despise his very existence. What’s even worse is the fact that I don’t care if he has feelings for his mistress or not and I certainly don’t wish to have any kind of relationship with him now or in the future."
"But My Lady—"
"I will finish up with my chores and have some rest later so please go ahead Moira." And with that, she walked out of the older woman’s presence as she thought of more ways to get back at him for what he had done to her.
