Cullen stared at the rambling woman speaking gibberish in his arms; wondering what could be going through her mind at that moment while Adria wondered why she was this excited to meet someone as rude and demeaning as him?

She’s grateful that he saved her life but he has been raining insults on her and she doesn’t like it.

He’s almost like another version of Aria, only more meaner and angrier. His face was stretched in a taut frown which almost made her squirm in fright.Full novel: The Lycan's Regret: Accidentally Married To The Defiant Twin — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Cullen can’t ignore the fact that for the first time in thirty years, his wolf is this excited and he can’t believe that it was because of this crazy woman standing in front of him.

He scoffed and pushed her away from him. "Foolish woman."

Adria slurred and fell to the ground as she kept on muttering strange things that he couldn’t understand. Cullen looked at her with nothing but pure disdain and irritation.

Yes, the woman is undeniably beautiful. She had long brunette hair that cascaded down her waist in luscious curls and her lips are oval shaped.

Staring at her is dangerously tempting and for some reason, he is already tempted. She is the type of woman that can make a man sin.

Cullen looked away, ignoring his already agitated wolf that wanted to claim her so ravenously and proceeded to pick up the dead bodies of the men that he had killed to dispose.

But when he came back to the spot that he had left her earlier, he found out that she was no longer there.

If it were any man in his place, they probably would’ve gone out there in search for her but sadly, he wasn’t interested. He doesn’t want a mate and he most definitely doesn’t want any woman in his life.

"My Lord!"

Cullen tuned In his werewolf ears and Degar’s voice sprang through. He was looking for him.

"Walk through the back exit Degar, I am outside." he commanded in a deep voice and a few minutes later, Degar comes rushing towards him.

"Thank goodness I found you. I have been looking everywhere for you. I thought that you had left without me already." Degar panted, for some reason he appears to be out of breath.

Cullen studied him carefully and his wolf picked up the smell of sex emanating from him like rich perfume clung to clothes.

"Were you really looking for me Degar? Or were you busy with some other business that I should know about?" Cullen stared at him with intent as he spoke while Degar tried his best to avoid his penetrating gaze.

"Forgive me, My Lord." Degar ducked his head, feeling embarrassed.

"You do not have to apologize." He simply stated "You are an animal after all. The wolf must have needed a little skin. I just hope that the woman in question is still alive because you have a ferocious appetite."

Degar wanted to laugh at that statement but refrained himself from doing so because he couldn’t tell if Cullen was being funny or sarcastic and he doesn’t want to take any chances in finding out.

And speaking of ferocious appetites, he knows that Cullen’s appetite for sex is simply insatiable. He could go on for hours until his partner passed out.

There has been rumors spreading around the pack that the women in his harem were scared shitless to share his bed because having sex with him only meant that you were taking not only him but his wild animals and you may not come out alive.

He sometimes wonders how Anya, his favorite sex slave was able to put up with him and his sexual appetite without burning or passing out.

Degar’s eyes roamed around Cullen’s body until it landed on the small injury that he had gotten from the bullet fight that grazed his arm earlier.

"What happened to your arm?"

Cullen studied the wound that Degar was referring to. It wasn’t deep so he was certain that he’d heal soon.

If he was back home then he would’ve summoned Anya and one night with her would’ve taken care of it but he wasn’t home. The thought of it was already suffocating him.

"I was involved in a little fight with two men whom I perceived to be wolf-hunters." He told him plainly as he started to walk away leaving Degar to follow.

"I do not know if I’m right because I perceived a familiar scent and it’s been a while since I smelt something like that but I know that it’ll come to me, eventually."

"They attacked you?" Degar’s eyes almost popped out in fright, completely ignoring the second remark. Why would wolf-hunters attack Cullen? How did they even know where to find him?

They have been very discreet ever since they arrived here and have tried their utmost best to blend in so that they don’t get noticed.

If he was attacked, then it only means that someone tipped them off. But who would want to harm Cullen?

"They attacked my mate and my wolf decided to get involved." he responded nonchalantly.

"You found her? After all these years?" Degar asked gleefully. "This is incredible news My Lord. Where is she? I’d like to meet her too." Degar asked, scanning the entire premise as they walked by. He was very excited that Cullen has finally found her.

"I don’t know and I do not care to know either." Cullen brushed off the question like it meant nothing because obviously, it doesn’t.

Degar knew that Cullen wasn’t interested in a mate and wasn’t ready to be committed to one so he had already anticipated this kind of reaction from him.

"You have to find her My Lord." Degar pointed out.

They arrived at the entrance of the club and located their car that was parked just around the corner and got inside.

"I do not wish to get involved with her. She is a foolish woman with no sense of self-preservation and there’s no doubt about that."

"But you rescued her?" Degar was forced to ask "Isn’t that you already getting involved?" Degar pressed.

"The call from Velez, how did it go?" Cullen changed the topic which only means that he doesn’t want to talk about the previous topic.

Degar knew that Cullen has been through enough troubles already but shouldn’t he be excited that he has found his mate?

Why didn’t he look for her at least? What if he never sees her again? What would happen then?

"It went well, My Lord." Degar responds as he took to the steering wheel and pulled out of the club.

"They were able to find a better means to salvage the situation for the vines to thrive. If all goes according to plan then we’ll be up and running in no time."

"Good!"

"So did you figure out who those men that attacked you were?"

"I didn’t. Although somehow they seem strangely familiar. It was as if I had met them before."

Degar looked on curiously "Weren’t you able to at least make out their scent? You never forget a scent no matter how faint it is."

"I tried to but I couldn’t and another thing that bothers me was the fact that they had none. And if in fact they did, then they did a pretty good job in masking it somehow." He stated, his brains calculating as though he was lost in thoughts.

"But that’s impossible." Degar blurted out "You have an olfactory sense greater than any animal alive. The wolf and cougar reside inside you so how is it possible that you weren’t able to pick up a single scent especially when they’re all humans?"

"Even I am surprised." He mumbled to himself. Cullen has heard of leaves and plants that were able to mask a human’s scent but he thought that they had gone extinct and even if they weren’t, could it be possible that those men knew about them?

And if they did know about them then how? Humans are dumb and could never figure something like that on their own except they were getting help from someone. Or maybe he was thinking too much about it.

Another thing that troubled him was the fact that they came to this club. Did they somehow follow him there? And why try to kidnap the woman if they truly came for him?

Maybe they were just thugs. He’d leave it as that and would try his very best not to let his imagination run wild concerning the matter.

For all he knew, it could be a mere coincidence.

"Anyway," He breathed heavily. "I highly doubt that they were sent by someone. For all we know, they could be thugs. The human world has always been filled with them and last night wasn’t our first rodeo."

Degar nodded in understanding even though he wasn’t convinced. "You may be right."

"Make arrangements for our journey back home to Valtheris." Was all Cullen said before shutting his eyes briefly. He does this when he’s thinking about something or doesn’t want to be talked to.

So much for having a friend whom he doesn’t quite understand.

At least there’s one good news worth celebrating for tonight despite the chaos. Cullen has found his mate whom he wants absolutely nothing to do with.
