Keegan’s POV
I catched her on time before she could ever fall at the cold floor.
My arms wrapped around her back and my face went pale and nervous as she started losing consciousness.
“No, no please. Savannah wake up don’t you ever sleep. Please” I begged but her eyes went off.
Anger rushed through me as Riego burst out of the room, leaving us behind.
I turned towards her.
I didn’t think twice and crossed the room, I scooped her body into my arms, and rushed outside.
People froze as I passed beside them.
Blood stained the front of my tuxedo, and Savannah’s body hung limp against my chest.
“Boss!” Caspien shouted.
My jaw locked.
“Call the surgeon. Now!”
I looked down at Savannah’s back and pressed my hand against the wound, but the bleeding wouldn’t stop.
“Damn it.”
Caspien rushed outside and got the car ready for us.
My fingers were already shaking.
“Drive faster!” I said as I didn’t avoid to got worried.
“We’re already at the limit, Boss!”
“Then push the fucking car harder!”
The tires screeched as the SUV tore down the road.
I kept Savannah’s hand in mine.
It was getting colder. And panic drove me crazy.
“Come on, Savannah.” My voice cracked.
“Stay with me.” I muttered while I pressed two fingers against her wrist, searching for her pulse.
My body tensed as I felt it getting weak, but still there.
“Don’t you dare give up on me.” I retorted holding her hand tightly.
The car swerved around another vehicle.
I tightened my grip on her hand as my heart slammed against my ribs.
“Faster!”
“I can’t go any faster!”
“Then find a way!”
The mansion finally came into view.
Before the vehicle had completely stopped, I opened the door and carried her out.
The private surgeon was already waiting.
“Move!” I shouted as they give way for me.
I rushed her inside and carefully placed her on the bed.
The surgeon immediately began checking her condition.
I grabbed his collar before he could say anything.
“You better save her.”
His eyes met mine.
“Mr. Ciffarelli—”
“You save her, or I’ll make sure you never get another chance to practice medicine.”
Caspien grabbed my arm and pulled me away.
“Boss, let him work.”
I shoved him aside.
“What the fuck, Caspien? If something happens to her, I’ll bury every person I saw and including you! ” I shouted at him pointing my finger at his chest.
The operating-room door slammed shut.
I stood there, the creeping silent made me crazy and even mad.
For several seconds, I couldn’t bare to move.
Then I turned and walked into the lobby.
My breathing grew heavier.
I tore off my jacket and threw it across the room.
“Fuck!” I groaned and my fist slammed into the nearest wall.
The pain barely registered.
I grabbed a vase and hurled it against the wall.
It shattered.
“AAARRRGGHHH!” I shouted letting out my frustration and anger.
Venting it out with the furniture inside the room.
I swept a lampshade off the table and threw it toward the door.
It crashed loudly.
I kicked the broken pieces aside and grabbed the nearest chair and threw it hard against the door.
The furniture hit the floor with a violent crack.
Yet nothing helped.
Nothing eased the anger that suffocated me.
The fear stayed that keep me from breathing relentlessly.
Damn It!
I looked down at my blood-stained hands.
Then I saw Savannah’s blood mixed with mine.
My chest tightened.
I turned toward the bed and kicked it.
I hit it again simultaneously.
Until the wooden frame split apart.
I stopped only when my lungs burned.
I sat heavily on the broken bed, dragging air into my chest.
I groaned when a shattered pieces from the brocken vase stung the palm of my foot.
“Damn it.” a curse echoed in the walls.
I was about to lose my mind again when a knock came from the door.
I stood immediately.
And Caspien was there.
“The operation was successful.”
I pushed past him.
I didn’t bother answering.
I went straight upstairs and shoved the door open.
The surgeon stood beside her, adjusting her IV and checking the blood transfusion.
My eyes went straight to her.
She was Pale.
My chest tightened in pain and I can’t help but to be concerned.
“When will she wake up?” I calmly asked.
“Soon, if she continues responding well. You should have your own injuries checked, Mr. Ciffarelli.” the doctor said.
I glared at him.
“I didn’t pay you all that money for advice I didn’t ask for.”
He lowered his gaze, shaking his head in disapproval.
I walked towards Savannah’s bedside and took her hand.
It feels warm.
I closed my eyes for a moment.
A breath escaped me, shaky and quiet.
I lowered my head and pressed a kiss against her forehead.
“I’ll make him pay, my queen.” its a promise that will never fail.
I released her hand.
Then I walked out the room.
My footsteps echoed through the corridor as I headed toward the main entrance.
My associates and soldiers were already waiting.
“Double the guards.” Everyone straightened as they listen.
“Don’t let anyone enter or leave this mansion without my permission.”
“Yes, Boss.” I looked at Caspien.
“You stay here. And take care of Savannah.” His expression hardened.
“Yes, Boss.” he said and went back inside.
“Killian. And men of honor group B you’re coming with me.” They immediately followed.
I climbed into the SUV and slammed the door.
The engine roared as I pulled away.
My hands tightened around the steering wheel.
The veins in my forearms stood out as I accelerated down the road.
Riego’s face kept flashing through my mind.
And Savannah lying motionless in my arms.
The blood and her cold hand made me feel traumatized for nearly losing her.
My foot pressed harder against the accelerator.
Minutes later, the tall gates of Riego’s mansion appeared ahead.
I leaned on the horn.
A maid hurried toward the gate and opened it.
I didn’t wait.
And I drove straight through the wide entrance.
The moment I stepped out, I drew my gun.
BANG!!!
BANG!!!
BANG!!!
The bullets struck the main door.
Men rushed from inside.
“Take cover!” My associates raised their weapons.
Gunfire erupted across the courtyard.
I moved behind a stone pillar as bullets struck the walls around me.
“Push forward!” My men advanced.
I fired twice.
One guard dropped his weapon and stumbled backward.
Another rushed toward me.
I sidestepped him and struck his wrist, sending his gun skidding across the floor.
A gunshot cracked beside my ear.
I ducked.
“Keegan!” I heard Riego’s voice in disgust.
I turned.
He was coming down the stairs, a gun was in his hand.
I raised mine and aimed straight at his head.
“You think I’m afraid of you because you’re a Ciffarelli?” he retorted.
I clenched my fist.
“That’s your useless opinion, motherfucker.” I fired back at him.
The bullet struck the wall beside him.
Riego flinched then I fired again.
This time, the bullet tore through his arm.
He stumbled and grabbed the wound.
His men opened fire.
I dropped behind the nearest cover.
“Move!” My associates returned fire.
The hallway erupted into chaos.
I rushed forward, still firing as I moved.
A large man suddenly tackled me.
My back slammed against the hard ground.
He punched me across the face. And I tasted blood coming out from my lips.
I drove my knee into his stomach.
He doubled over.
I shoved him away and got back on my feet.
He charged again.
I caught his arm, twisted it behind his back, and threw him onto the floor.
He tried to rise but fail.
I kicked the weapon away from his reach.
Then I pinned him down.
My fists came down his face again and again.
He surrendered as his face became swollen and blood were across his lips and eyes.
A sudden movement caught my attention.
I looked toward the entrance.
Riego was crawling across the floor.
My associates had already surrounded him.
His men were down while others are retreating.
My breathing was heavy as I walked toward him.
I raised my gun.
“You wished for this yourself, Salvador.” I aimed at his temple.
Riego laughed.
A bitter, mocking sound.
Then the distant rumble of a helicopter filled the night.
His smile widened.
“Go ahead, Keegan. Kill me.” he insisted
The helicopter grew louder.
“You think my father and the Mafiosi will just let you walk away after killing me?”
My fist connected with his face.
He fell sideways, laughing through the pain.
“Fuck.”
I tightened my grip on the gun.
I should’ve ended this sooner.
I should’ve pulled the trigger while I’m at it.
But the helicopter descended into the courtyard.
The force of the blades sent dust and wind across the ground.
I shielded my eyes with one arm.
The helicopter touched down.
The blades slowly began to lose speed.
Then I saw her.
A familiar woman stepped out and hurried toward me.
My jaw clenched just as her hand swung toward my face.
My face moved sideways and I caught her wrist before it swung to my face again “Cassandra.” I called her name
Her eyes were swollen.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
“You lied to me!.” I released her wrist.
A faint smirk pulled at my lips.
I stepped closer and lowered my voice.
“I don’t love you.”
Her expression crumbled.
“And I never will.”
I turned and walked toward my SUV.
Behind me, Cassandra remained frozen.
I stopped beside the door and looked back.
“This wouldn’t have happened if your brother hadn’t started this.”
Then I got inside.
The door slammed shut.
I started the engine and drove away from Riego’s mansion without looking back
