Pink marched confidently into the girls restroom.
And immediately froze.
Someone was cackling.
And crying.
At the same time.
The sound echoed weirdly off the tiled walls.
Pink crept forward slowly and peeked around the corner.
It wasn't Alice.
It was Smiling Girl.
She stood in front of the mirror clawing at her own cheeks.
"No... no, hehe... stoooop!"
Tears streamed down her face.
But her smile never faltered.
It stayed stretched across her face, twitching and cheerful and completely wrong.
Even stranger...
she was wearing a bizarre school uniform.
The colors looked flatter somehow.
More vibrant.
Like she'd stepped out of an anime.
Pink blinked.
"...Huh."
Smiling Girl caught her reflection in the mirror.
Her head snapped around.
Their eyes met.
Her smile twitched violently.
"Oh God..."
She let out a nervous chuckle.
"You're here?!"
Pink looked left.
Looked right.
Pointed at herself.
"Me?"
"YES, YOU!" Smiling Girl squeaked.
Then immediately laughed.
"Hehehe! Are you stalking me?!"
Pink frowned.
"Stalking who?"
She crossed her arms.
"I was stalking Alice."
Smiling Girl's smile froze.
Pink nodded seriously.
"She looked like she needed help."
Smiling Girl stared.
Pink tilted her head.
"Have you seen her, by the way?"
For a moment...
Smiling Girl forgot how to breathe.
"No."
She laughed weakly.
"No, I haven't."
Pink clicked her tongue.
"Dang it."
She glanced toward the ceiling.
"She must've escaped through the vents."
Smiling Girl blinked.
"What?"
Pink pointed upward.
"Can you give me a boost?"
Smiling Girl stared at her.
Just...
stared.
Then suddenly doubled over laughing.
"You are SO DAMN UNHINGED!"
She wheezed.
"It's making me want to flush myself!"
Pink rolled her eyes.
"You're weird."
"No, seriously!"
Still laughing hysterically, Smiling Girl climbed onto one of the toilet stalls.
"I am leaving reality!"
"What are you doing?"
Smiling Girl gave Pink a thumbs up.
"Goodbye forever!"
Then...
she jumped into the toilet.
Pink stared.
"..."
"..."
Flush.
Pink blinked.
"What."
A moment later...
the sink behind her exploded upward.
Smiling Girl burst out of it like an aquatic gremlin.
Water sprayed everywhere.
She slammed both hands onto the counter, gasping for air while tears streamed down her face.
Pink slowly turned around.
The two girls stared at each other.
Smiling Girl pointed weakly at herself.
"I..."
She wheezed.
"I thought that would work."
Pink looked at the toilet.
Looked at the sink.
Looked back at her.
"You are somehow crazier than I am."
Smiling Girl immediately stopped laughing.
"EXCUSE ME?!"
Pink marched over and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Enough messing around!"
She shook her violently.
"HELP ME FIND ALICE!"
Smiling Girl's head bobbled back and forth.
Inside her mind she screamed:
I AM ALICE!!
WHY IS THIS MY LIFE?!
