Chapter 12: Golden Blood

The Male Lead Chooses The Forgotten Side Character

But Vivienne Blackwood paid attention to nothing else.

She hastily opened up the blood-soaked clothes of the child with no delay.

She did not mind that her white hands quickly turned red.

She gently moved the fabric away and examined the wound.

She tightened her teeth so that her lips split open and blood dripped down her chin.

The girl’s liver was punctured by the stab.

Due to the fact that the child’s body was so small while the knife used against her was so large, the internal damage was catastrophic.

Their time was up.

The blood loss was far too much.

The ambulance probably won’t arrive in time to save the little girl’s life.

According to Vivienne’s medical knowledge, they had less than ten minutes left to stabilize the little girl’s condition before—

"Damn it. Damn it! Damn it!" Vivienne Blackwood cursed loudly as her eyes swept across the cabin.

"What are you looking for?"

A deep, rough male voice rang out beside her.

Leo Thompson had somehow appeared at her side, staring down at her with those green eyes that looked darker than the night sky itself at that moment.

Ignoring everything else around her, Vivienne spoke in a weak yet unwavering voice.

"Anything that can be used for a blood transfusion. Hurry and find me a long hollow vine."

Without another word, the man vanished.

A gust of wind swept through the cabin from the sheer speed of Leo’s tall figure rushing outside.

Vivienne knew he would bring back what she needed, and the suffocating tension in her chest eased slightly.

"What? A blood transfusion?" Arthur Williams finally recovered from the shock of everything that had happened over the past few minutes.

Then Vivienne Blackwood’s words stunned him all over again.

Everyone stared at the beautiful girl before them in disbelief.

The others had already lost hope.

After the initial shock, they had stood there helplessly with tears in their eyes, but deep down, they had already surrendered to fate.

There was no doctor here.

And even if there had been one, treating such a fatal injury without proper medical equipment was nearly impossible.

The sheer amount of blood staining the floor was enough to tell anyone that the child had been bleeding for a very long time and was already on the verge of death.

Vivienne ignored Arthur.

Ignored everyone.

She rose to her feet and walked straight toward the broken man sitting in the same corner where he had fallen earlier.

Without warning—

Slap!

The sharp sound of her palm striking his face echoed through the cabin, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

Some of the younger villagers even grew furious, thinking the cruel woman had completely lost her mind.

Then Vivienne Blackwood’s delicate yet powerful voice rang through the silence.

"Your daughter is still alive. She’s still breathing. She’s still fighting death with everything she has just to survive."

Her crimson-stained eyes locked onto him coldly.

"As her father, you should support her. Don’t sit here crying and mourning her already."

"Before she dies, you have no right to cry."

"Before she takes her final breath, don’t sit there motionless like a defeated coward waiting for her death."

"Stay beside her. Help her. Call out to her and give her strength."

The moment she finished speaking, light slowly returned to the man’s empty eyes.

Hope.

His daughter was still breathing.

He needed to stand beside her.

Needed to support her like he always had.

The man wiped away his tears and slowly stood up, determination returning to his face.

But before he could move, the beautiful girl who had slapped him suddenly asked,

"What’s your daughter’s blood type?"

"Rh-null..."

His answer came quickly, yet filled with hesitation and fear.

And instantly, despair returned to him again.

Even if his daughter somehow reached the hospital alive, she possessed the Golden Blood Type—the rarest blood type in the entire world.

Fewer than ten people on Earth were known to have it.

The moment everyone heard those words, their faces turned pale.

Whatever hope they still had nearly vanished.

Some had already begun imagining the little girl’s funeral.

[Oh my God... just when I started feeling relieved that she was alive and the helicopter was on the way, another problem appears...]

[What horrible luck... how can she have Golden Blood? Is this child destined to die tonight?]

[Has anyone noticed how calm Vivienne is in this situation? Did she study medicine before?]

[No, but did you notice what Vivienne asked for earlier? Is she seriously trying to perform a blood transfusion in that environment? That’s impossible! Both people could die!]

When Vivienne Blackwood heard the man mention his daughter’s blood type—

She smiled.

Then, to everyone’s confusion, she let out a soft laugh.

"Heh..."

The reaction instantly sparked outrage among several people, but before anyone could speak, the girl’s angelic voice echoed through the cabin once more.

"It seems God hasn’t abandoned your daughter after all."

The man did not understand what she meant.

Neither did anyone else.

Not until Leo Thompson returned.

With quick strides, he stopped before Vivienne and extended his hand toward her.

"Will this work?"

Vivienne’s eyes lit up the moment she saw the wild vines in his grasp.

Flexible climbing vines.

Hollow inside.

Perfect for immediate use without any preparation.

"Yes," she replied softly. "That’s enough."

Vivienne immediately returned to the little girl’s side.

Then, beneath everyone’s horrified gaze, she gently lifted the child’s arm and—within two seconds—inserted one end of the hollow vine directly into the girl’s vein.

"Vivienne..." Camila Hall sighed shakily as she rested a trembling hand on Vivienne’s shoulder. "People with Golden Blood can’t receive blood from anyone except someone with the same type..."

Vivienne Blackwood said nothing.

Instead, a sweet, breathtaking smile slowly bloomed across her face as she looked toward Camila.

Then, under everyone’s stunned gaze—

Vivienne pierced her own arm.

And inserted the other end of the vine into herself.

"That’s why I said God loves this child."

Her voice was soft.

Gentle.

"But it just so happens... my blood type is Golden Blood too."
