Another comfy sleep today... Right, I need to buy more Magic tools and Magic cores for crafting soon. Am I really gonna go to Lilien Trading Company in this heat...? I could carry the Magic tool I use in my room with me... no, that's a pain.

...Oh yeah, I had a small fan I carry around in summer. Should I make the Magic tool I'm using now smaller so I can carry it? Even then, it's kinda awkward to carry.

-Add a Cooling Function to a folding fan... that'd be light and compact enough to carry, so yeah, that sounds good.Full novel: The Marquis's Third Son Wants Comfort - Crafting Magical Appliances in Another World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I headed to the Workshop right away and got to work. I have three folding fans: a plain black one, a plain navy one, and one that fades from light blue to navy. For summer, cooler colors feel better, so I decided to use the one that goes from light blue to navy.

I picked up my Magical circuit drawing pen-the one that can draw the thinnest circuits-and started drawing circuits onto the fan's frame. The circuit I'm using for this Magic tool is a smaller version of the cooling Magic tool I have set up in my room and the Workshop. The basic structure is the same, so the adjustments went faster than I expected.

I made a small base on the handle to hold the Magic core, and placed the core right in the center. You can turn a knob around it to adjust the flow of Mana. Next, I drew in the Magic circle for the Cooling Function and Mana control. I also added a simple Magic circle that senses the fanning motion and turns it on. If I set it so Mana only flows while it's being used, I can cut down on wasted Mana.

"...That should take care of it," I said, setting down my tools with satisfaction.

I gave it a test fan, and a gentle breeze came through along with a cool chill. I turned the knob and checked the airflow too, and it seemed fine. Once you turn it on, the wind and cold air keep going for a while. I set it so one good fan every ten minutes or so keeps things comfortable.

This is way easier than a regular fan. I thought once every thirty minutes might be enough, but if I'm making these for Mom and Tiana, they might use them at tea parties. If that's the case, having wind and cold air going the whole time might actually make it harder to use. I'll set it to cut off after a reasonable amount of time, so they can cool down only when they need it. That should be easier for Mom and the others to use.

I tweaked the small details and finished checking how it worked.

"...Done," I muttered to myself.

Yeah, the airflow and the cooling level are just right. Plus, it came out lighter than I expected, which is nice, so this should work fine outside too. For Mom and Tiana, I'll let them pick their favorite fan first, then add the Cooling Function. They're gonna love it.

I glanced at the Magic clock-it was almost time for lunch. I'll go to Lilien Trading Company after I eat.

After lunch, I headed straight to Lilien Trading Company. Normally I'd walk there as a little stroll, but it's hot today, so I decided to just take a carriage. Of course, I loaded the cooling Magic tool from the Workshop into the carriage too. On top of that, I lent the fan-type cooling Magic tool to the driver so he could test it out. While I'm at the trading company, he can rest in the carriage, and I'll get the fan-type cooling Magic tool back then.

With this, I'm all set against the heat.

Inside the carriage, even with the cooling Magic tool running at about 20% less power, it feels a little chilly. For a space this size, about 60% of the original Cooling Function should be plenty comfortable. If I shrink it down to match, it shouldn't get in the way inside the carriage either--while I was thinking about all that, we arrived at Lilien Trading Company in no time.

"Welcome, Lord Finn," The receptionist bowed politely.

"Hi there. Today I'd like twenty small Magic cores, five thin iron plates, and about fifteen Mana control Magic circles."

"Certainly. I'll get those ready, so please have a seat over there and wait."

"Oh, is Uncle Alex here?" I asked curiously.

"Lord Alex is in a business meeting right now, but I believe he'll be done soon."

"Got it, I'll take care of waiting. Thanks," I replied, nodding with a friendly smile.

"Then, I'll go get everything ready."

Trivia:

- Finn specifically chose the light blue to navy gradient fan for its cool appearance, showing he cares about aesthetic details matching functionality.

- The adjustable knob design on the fan handle mirrors the larger cooling Magic tool's controls, suggesting Finn values consistent user interfaces across his creations.

- Finn lent the prototype fan to the carriage driver partly as a field test, showing he values real-world feedback before gifting finished products to family.

Notes:

• Tiana - Younger sister who returns from the academy. Complains about the cold Workshop and worries about their mother. Curious about her brother's inventions.

• Finn - Third son of a marquis family and a magical tool maker. Graduated from an academy and became a full magical tool maker after apprenticing. Currently staying at the family estate during summer. Working on a prototype magical tool that can cool the air, using a fan blower's magical circuit as a base. Has a tendency to forget meals when absorbed in work, though this has improved. Finds the dining room and hallways uncomfortably hot. Wears his shirt with two buttons undone at home. Knows Noah well since childhood. Third son of a marquis family living in the royal capital. Aspiring magical tool maker who retains memories of a past life. Currently working on creating a cooling magical device to deal with an unusually hot summer. Gets absorbed in work and loses track of time.
