Mu Yining was pondering where she could bring Alan and Xiaoyao out of her space. She certainly couldn’t conjure living beings out of thin air right in front of them, could she?

Just as she was thinking, she heard Chu Yu’s inquiry from behind.

“Where are Miss Mu’s younger brother and pet? Are they safe? Given the current situation, we had better hurry over as quickly as possible. If anything were to happen to them, it would be entirely our fault.” Chu Yu was genuinely worried. Yet, considering Mu Yining’s extraordinary strength and her composure that remained as steady as Mount Tai, she bound to have her own arrangements. In any case, her family shouldn’t be implicated just because she saved the two of them; otherwise, he would be plagued by a guilty conscience for the rest of his life. At the end of the day, this was his dereliction of duty. He was fortunate to have had good luck, or else the two brothers would likely be part of the zombie horde by now.Full novel: The Max-Level Expert Overthrew the Apocalypse — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“There is a vegetable greenhouse in the suburbs. I’ve already cleared it out. Once we see them, you’ll naturally understand my reasons.” Mu Yining knew what kind of person he was. After answering politely, she focused on driving toward the outskirts. Naturally, there was no vegetable greenhouse—it was merely an excuse she made up.

The suburban area was close to the interprovincial highway. Without even thinking, one could guess it was already jammed with long queues of cars. It was human nature to flee when faced with danger, holding onto the hope that the outside world might be different. The place would be crowded and chaotic, so she only needed to find an excuse to step away and bring out Xiaoyao and Alan.

With a plan in mind, she pressed the accelerator all the way down, speeding along the route.

Mu Yining could tell that her smooth progress along the way owed much to the assistance of Chu Yu’s Spiritual Ability. In her heart, her impression of him rose considerably.

In this life, Chu Yu had awakened the Spiritual System. She wondered if his Lightning Ability would arrive as expected. Regardless, she believed Chu Yu was by no means an ordinary person, and his strength would surely surpass hers.

To Mu Yining, Chu Yu was not only her savior, but he had also provided substantial help to her Faraway Base in her past life. Should she share some information with a person like him? Yet revealing too much might arouse suspicion.

While she was torn in thought, the car gradually came to a stop. As Mu Yining had expected, the road ahead was completely blocked.

She made a decision decisively.

“Get out of the car. We’ll walk from here. Bring all your belongings and leave the car behind.” She already had plenty of cars inside her spatial dimension, so missing this single one wouldn’t matter. Bumping and scraping all the way here, the vehicle was splattered with blood stains and zombie parts attached to it. She had neither the time nor the need to clean it now—after all, her journey of collecting supplies had only just begun.

“If we leave the car behind, how are we going to…” Chu Yan, outspoken as always, asked his question directly, but Chu Yu cut him off and got out of the car swiftly.

“Miss Mu has her own plans, and we have no right to interfere. Remember, the car isn’t ours, but we can find one for ourselves.” Chu Yu understood the priority of matters. He offered just a single line of explanation to Chu Yan, and the latter understood immediately.

Overhearing their conversation, Mu Yining glanced lightly at Chu Yan. Straightforward and generous, she had known what kind of person he was from the moment she first saw him—astute, capable, loyal, sometimes serious, yet occasionally naive. Someone like him would inevitably suffer losses in the apocalypse sooner or later. She could only hope he would stay safe and sound by Chu Yu’s side, even though she personally favored such a personality.

After stepping out of the vehicle, the three of them headed straight ahead. They carried very few belongings with them; Mu Yining had only a single backpack, while Chu Yu and Chu Yan had long since changed out of their military uniforms. They had hurriedly found a bag in the supermarket to hold their backpacks and firearms, but carrying it in their hands still looked somewhat conspicuous. Seeing this, Mu Yining emptied out her own backpack and handed it to them to store their guns.

“Don’t bring unnecessary trouble upon yourselves.” As for whether the two of them could understand her intent, that was no longer her concern—after all, neither of them was foolish.
