Over the next few days, Mu Yining remained in City A, collecting supplies—focusing on a wide variety rather than huge quantities, since she could always continue collecting more in the future.

After collecting the final batch of coal, Mu Yining looked at her space, which was now filled with the warmth of everyday life, and her mood lifted even higher. Thinking of the future, all she had to do was protect herself and live safely; at the very least, she wouldn’t have to worry about going hungry.

With all her business in City A wrapped up, Mu Yining planned to head toward the surrounding second- and third-tier small cities, making her way continuously outward. The fewer people there were, the safer it would be.Full novel: The Max-Level Expert Overthrew the Apocalypse — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Counting the days, if nothing unexpected happened, the virus would break out on the morning six days from now. From there, it would spread from one person to ten, and ten to a hundred. In less than a day, the entire world would transform into a living hell.

Mu Yining brought Alan out with her, and one person and one dog set off along Haizhen. Sitting on the front passenger seat, Alan tilted his head and quietly watched the scenery flashing past the window, as if he too were trying desperately to memorize the world’s final beauty.

When it was mealtime, Mu Yining would find a secluded spot and take Alan into the space from inside the car.

After a few days of setup, the space had come to resemble a farm. The seeds Mu Yining had scattered days ago had all matured; as long as they weren’t picked, they remained fresh, leaving the entire vegetable patch brimming with vitality.

Mu Yining casually pulled up a few heads of napa cabbage and tossed them into the enclosure where the chickens were kept. The chicks over there were also growing rapidly. Perhaps because there was no pollution in the space and spiritual energy was abundant, even the produce generated was irreproachable—the eggs were both large and flavorful.

Beside the enclosure, Mu Yining had dug out a pond and diverted some water from the river into it to grow lotus roots. The flowers and leaves complemented each other, creating a lovely scene within the space.

One might ask about those pigs: had it not been for their delicious meat, Mu Yining wouldn’t have wanted to raise them at all. Far away from her usual area of activity, a few pigs were letting out mournful grunts…

At the foot of the mountain were cattle, sheep, horses, and little rabbits that Mu Yining had bought from rural villages, free to roam up the mountain or wherever they pleased.

It was rather hilarious—whenever Mu Yining didn’t know what to eat, Alan would always drag back strange and unusual things. Case in point: right now, a certain dog had his mouth stuffed with a large handful of vegetable leaves…

Alan liked eating raw vegetables and fruit. The produce grown in the space was crisp and sweet—even Mu Yining couldn’t resist taking a couple of raw bites, sensing a faint trace of energy within them.

Still, Mu Yining couldn’t eat like Alan. She set up a pot, lit a fire, poured in hot pot base, picked plenty of vegetables from the field, fetched some frozen meat slices, dug up lotus roots, and scooped out a few shrimp, kicking off a simple lunch.

After lunch, Mu Yining stared speechlessly at the overflowing basket of fruit in front of her. Production in the space was too fast; she couldn’t finish it all. Grabbing a backpack, she packed some water, snacks, and fruit, then returned to the car with Alan.

She still had a long way to travel and couldn’t just stay inside the space forever without coming out. She didn’t know whether she would team up with others after the apocalypse, but for now, traveling alone with Alan didn’t seem bad at all.

Mu Yining started the car and resumed her journey. Aside from weapons and medicines, she had prepared almost everything else. Once the apocalypse broke out, she could collect a bit more, which would be enough to last her several lifetimes.

Her funds were nearly exhausted. Medicines were manageable—she could just collect them from hospitals after the apocalypse. However, hospitals were always crowded with a complex mix of people, mostly patients; once infected with the virus, hospitals would definitely become places to avoid. Still, with plenty of time ahead, she didn’t believe she couldn’t find a way inside. The critical issue was weapons. Her remaining money was nowhere near enough for those, so she would have to resort to special methods.
